This is a proposed relaunch of the Final Fantasy Infinity game I ran in these boards a few years ago. There is no direct connection to that game (yet) other than being in the same setting- an original world where ALL Final Fantasy characters happen to co-exist. You can play a character from any series -even the anime or movies- or an original character of your own.

I call this world Gaia Infinity. It is a world both of magic and science, though the technology is limited to the richer city-states; the rest of the world is poor and effectively lives at a Medieval level. The Summons are worshiped as gods, and the various "Jobs" are actually specialized guilds that control the use of magic, technology, the military etc. Each Guild has an uniform all active members must wear (the classic Job costumes.) Ex-members don't have to.

Original characters must belong to a race and class from the games, but otherwise any combination is possible (so if you want to play say, a Dragoon Moogle, it's OK! ;) ) You can be multi-classed but only belong to one Guild at a time. Note humans are called "Humes" here.

Note that unless stated, the events from the games have NOT happened yet (so for example, there is no Sin monster crushing everything in its path- yet.) But the characters and forces behind them are there, and the events of the gameplay might just provoke some of them into happening. The main story will involve a war between the Summons.

Existing characters are available in a first come, first served basis! So if you really want to play say, Squall, ask now! Remember to adjust the character's background to fit the setting.

Here's the Basic Character Sheet:

*Race:

*Job:

Nice, but I need you to fill in the descriptions, guys. Yes, existing characters too. Like this:

Name: Cyan Landswalker (original character)

Race: Hume

Job: Blue Mage

Equipment: Magic Staff, Magic Robes, a few healing Potions

Unique Abilities: none

Background: Cyan is from a small, unremarkable town. When he was a boy he was out hunting with his older brother when they were attacked by goblins; a goblin shaman used a spell on him and to his surprise, he absorbed it and was able to use it from then on! This meant he had the gift of using "Blue Magic". After fighting off the creatures, Cyan signed up with the Blue Mage's guild. He recently completed his training and is now on a quest to learn as much monster magic as he can so he can make a name for himself and his family.

Description: Cyan is in his late teens, and has black hair (with a bluish tint) and dark blue eyes. He wears the Blue Mage hat and robes.

Personality: Cyan is a nice person, but still somewhat naive as he doesn't have much experience outside of the countryside and the Blue Mage school.

This is my character, btw.

  • Name: Kyle Dalkhain

  • Race: Hume

  • Job: Dark Knight

  • Unique Abilities: Kyle has a very nasty curse on his person, namely, the "Decaying Hand Curse". This spiteful curse results in anything living being drained of life force the longer skin contact with him is maintained, and healing him proportional to the amount of damage dealt.

  • Equipment: Lifehunter, a scythe, which can inflict poison.

  • Background: Despite his class of Dark Knight and his Curse, he used to belong to a loving family, his father being a knight and serving a country. However, they displeased a Dark Mage who proceeded to put a curse on the young Kyle, resulting in him reducing his mother to ash in an accidentally deadly hug. He was then cast out, and has since become a morose wanderer trying to find a place for himself. His course toward Dark Knight was done mainly because he thought that this would let him achieve revenge on the one who put the Decaying Hand Curse on him.

  • Physical Description: Kyle is a very attractive looking teenage young man in the Bishōnen sense, having a muscular build and broad shoulders, though this does not show often due to his slumped stance. He has black hair that looks rather unkempt and light green eyes. He usually wears an armored vest under a trench coat, slacks sewn with black armor at certain points, and black greaves connected to steel toed boots.

  • Personality: Kyle, despite the curse afflicting him, tries his very best to be the nicest person he can, while he does have a bit of a morbid depressive streak to him. He mainly wants to try to remain optimistic about his future, that he can live a normal life, and one day let go of revenge. He has an odd psychological component to his curse, namely, as he gets riled at someone, he starts to have an urge to touch them. He is deeply ashamed of this facet, and credits it to a Superpowered Evil Side, rather than a facet of his own psyche, and to this end does not make use of his curse very often (to use RPG terms, he cannot use Vampiric Grasp for three "rounds" after using it once). He is a frequent sufferer of "Dulcinea Syndrome", and in general has a tendency to leap to the defense of people he barely knows. He does, though, have a repressed aggressive side to his personality, and while he tries to be nice, occasionally he shows a more temperamental side of himself under stress. Indeed, it seems he doesn't handle stress very well...

  • Name: Hope Estheim
  • Race: Hume
  • Job: None
  • Equipment: Airwing, a large blue and yellow boomerang with the inscription "To the heavens soars the phoenix" written on it.
  • Unique Abilities (if any): His boomerang uses AMP technology which allows him to control its direction when thrown, able to hit multiple targets before it flies back to him.
  • Background: Hope lived a normal life in Palumpolum with his mother Nora and his father Bartholomew. However, that all changed when he and his mother decided to take a vacation to Bodhum for the fireworks show... (sorry I couldn't provide a better description, that's really all the game tells us about his past.)
  • Physical Description: Hope has short silver hair and light blue-green eyes. He's fourteen, and a little short for his age. He wears a short-sleeved orange and yellow jacket with a green neckerchief over a black shirt, and black gloves with white palms. He wears dark green cargo pants with a black storage pack hanging from a belt over his left leg, and green boots. Also wears a yellow wristband on his left hand. Like so.
  • Personality: Hope is close to his mother, always confiding in her and relying on her for protection, but he has had a distant relationship with his father ever since he reached adolescence. Hope tends to run away from his problems, specifically things he can't change. Hope starts off as naive, insecure, and sensitive. His speech is reserved but he makes outbursts of anger and frustration whenever his emotions get the best of him. His naivety makes him quick to blame others for his misfortunes, and he is easily affected by harsh words and rash actions, especially when they involve personal subjects. Hope has little to no battle experience and is often afraid to get into confrontations, and thus tries to run from a fight or tense situation when he has the chance.

[up][up]Accepted.

[up]The Spirits Within, you mean? Well so far this setting doesn't resemble the movie's at all, but note the characters from it exist here (modified appropriately) and can be played.

Luckybreak and tails Doll, I'm waiting for your full character sheets before I post the official Game Thread. Please post them ASAP. (Note you don't need to list *every* single blasted spell, limit break etc. each character has; it's the background that is more important right now.)

  • Name: Sazh Katzroy

  • Race: Hume

  • Job: N/A

  • Unique Abilities: Sazh is a professional airship pilot, and has also served as a train conductor at one point. He also possesses a pair of pistols that can combine into an assault rifle.

  • Background: Sazh's appears to be from a technologically advanced part of the world, which explains his access to modern weapons. After his wife died three years prior to the events of the game, Sazh has been taking care of their son. A tiny chocobo chick also travels with him, often hiding inside his afro.

  • Physical Description: Sazh is a tall, middle-aged man with an afro in which he keeps an unnamed chocobo chick. He wears a long, olive military coat over khaki trousers, a white button-down shirt, and black buckled engineer boots. He keeps his two pistols in holsters strapped to his thighs.

  • Personality: Despite being in his forties, Sazh has a youthful, carefree, and lively personality. He is silly at times, and can be bumbling in stressful situations, but he has a strong will. Underneath his goofy exterior, Sazh has a level-headed and mature side.

As mentioned in the intro, there is modern technology in this world but it is restricted to the richer cities; most other people make do with magic or alchemy. So characters like Sazh are OK. (There's also a conflict between The Engineers Guild and The Summoners Guild over the use of technology- think Final Fantasy X.)

Hopefully, this works. I'm reusing a character from another RP.

  • Name: Lapin Delacroix (original character)
  • Race: Hume
  • Job: SeeD mercenary. (Technically, dual-class Black Mage/White Mage)
  • Unique Abilities: As part of her "privileged" magical training, she has the ability to summon Shiva.
  • Equipment: Misc Potions and recovery items. A rather large Triple Triad Deck (more than enough for six people to play simultaneously).
    • Weapon: "Perfect Ward": A small, round shield, cobalt blue in color. The insignia of her father's company, DelaCorp, is emblazoned on the front.
  • Background: Lapin grew up the wealthy daughter of a business tycoon and lived in Deling City. Her father sent her to the Galbadia Garden under the assumption that the combat and magical training that she would receive there would toughen her up and prepare her for life in the cutthroat world of business management. Not to mention that she would be getting the best academic education money could buy... Unfortunately for her father, Lapin performed so well in combat that she was recommended to become a SeeD, and she was transferred to Balamb Garden to finish her training.
  • Physical Description: Standing at around 156 cm and weighing 54 kg, Lapin is certainly not what someone would call "intimidating". However, she carries her small, slender, teenage frame in such a way that strongly suggests she comes from money and power. Her straight, raven black hair comes down to the middle of her back, and her eyes are icy blue. She wears dark-rimmed, half-frame glasses that almost never seem to need adjusted unless for dramatic purposes. Her usual attire is a black one piece skirt/shirt combo with black knee-high boots. Her primary weapon is a round shield, called "Perfect Ward", which she carries on her back when not in use.
  • Personality: Usually comes across as stoic and icy, she is civil enough to interact with "lower class" citizens, and always shows others "proper" respect, even if ahe doesn't always believe they deserve it. She resents any insinuation of her being anything akin to a "spoiled princess", and can more than hold her own in a fight. She is deeply fascinated by the game Triple Triad, and is considered a "Power Gamer" in both the Galbadia and Balamb Gardens. Also, while possessing a "refined" palette, her favorite foods are, and will always be, sweets.

Yes, Guardian Forces are more typical Summons in this game. Why don't you describe her ability and then we can see how we might fit it in? Otherwise, she's OK.

I was just going to list her two Guardian Forces (Shiva and Siren). Since GFs are an integral part of FFVIII, I thought they beared mentioning.

But we can just nix that part if it doesn't gel with your version of the world. (But keep her ability to cast spells intact.)

I see no problem with her having two summons. However you must decide if you want to treat them as Guardian Forces, which would be unusual (but we could work something out. Maybe they're part of an experiment?) Personally, I just recommend saying that she took a bit of regular Summoning training along her other spellcasting classes.

  • Name: Adelbert Steiner

  • Race: Hume

  • Job: Knight

  • Equipment: A Mythril Sword with a few chips in the blade, Plate Mail(heavy armor), a gold choker and power belt.

  • Unique Abilities: If a friendly black mage is around Steiner can combine the mage's black magic with his sword abilities to cause massive damage against a target.
When suitably stressed Steiner enters a trance where he will do 3x his regular damage.

  • Background: A loyal knight of Alexandria and leader of the Knights of Pluto, Steiner seeks the missing princess and will do anything to get her back. While his fellow knights have given up hope of finding the princess after two years of fruitless searching, Steiner has followed rumors that the princess had been spotted booking passage on an airship to [Game World].

  • Physical Description: Roughly 5'7 and 180 pounds without armor, Steiner goes no where without his distinct sounding *CLANK CLANK* silver colored knight armor, a tattered white feather tops his helmet. His broadsword is held in place securely with a leather strap on his back when not in use.

  • Personality: Gruff but loyal, Steiner is a man focused on a single purpose to get the princess back, he is willing to ally with others if they can serve this purpose but does not seek out help.
