[up]When everyone was saying she is playing Carrie Kelly because she died her hair, I kept saying she is playing Barbara Gordon because she is a better character.

I also kept pointing out to them Barbara's hair is also red.

18 new details from the Empire Magazine article that no one is talking about.

Some are angry that it says Batman carries a machine gun at one point in the movie. It doesn't say he uses it he could've taken it from a soldier.

One interesting thing is Zack Snyder has a white board in his office with the DCEU mapped out.

[up][up]Funny, my brother (who's still in highschool) actually agrees with some of them. He thinks the very concept of making Superman and Batman fight is stupid because according to him realistically Batman doesn't stand a chance.

most of the time when the two are in some sort of physical conflict clark is holding back in some way.

i've always found the whole question pretty stupid to be frank. it doesn't matter who's "stronger", it doesn't make them a more interesting or nuanced character (i.e the only thing that actually matters) just because they won a dick measuring contest.

Yeah. Who are those guys that think Batman curbstomps Superman 10/10? Or people that like to list the ways Clark could murder Bruce...

[up][up][up]Yeah, I don't care much about it either. Always found it more fun to see them team up than fight each others.

But my brother's point is that realistically, there is no way a regular human, no matter how smart and well-trained, can defeat a Flying Brick with Super-Reflexes, Super-Senses, Super-Intelligence and enough strength to move planet-sized objects. So according to him all Batman vs Superman fight require either nerfing Superman, having him hold back or have Batman use Kryptonite (which according to him shouldn't even work because Superman could defeat him before he even reach for it). Personally, again I don't care much about who would win, but... yeah, I gotta admit he raises a few good points.

'Realistically' there's no way such a Flying Brick could exist either. So tell your brother 'realistically' kind of goes out the window the moment Superman appears in a comic.

well that's the thing with Suspensionof Disbelief. Superman having powers is one thing, but believing that a normal man (no matter how intelligent, well-trained, and resourceful) could somehow best him is a different thing that falls under logic of the story itself and requires a different set of justifications.

"Batgod" became a thing for a reason, after all.

Superman's archenemy has always been another 'normal' human.

tell that to The Dark Knight Returns fanboys.

don't get me wrong, I love TDKR. but I find it hilarious that some people cite the fight at the end as proof that Bats could beat Superman when

  • Bats had rigged a pretty big chunk of Gotham to his advantage and
  • Supes was still recovering from taking a nuclear missile to the face. so yeah, he was nowhere near 100%.

and even if Supes was, there's no way he'd go full tilt against an otherwise non-powered human who he still considered a close friend.

The question really only comes up anymore because of fanboys of one reacting to fanboys of the other.

Superman's archenemy has always been another 'normal' human.

Except Lex rarely ever fights Superman one on one because he knows he would lose. Lex uses his intelligence to think up schemes to stop Superman, he doesn't go out and just fight him, like Batman appears to be doing.

Except for all those times he's worn power armor to go fight Superman himself, which in all fairness has happened more often than Superman has fought Batman. Worse, it happened more frequently Pre-Crisis, when Superman was a lot more powerful.

Every time someone cites that, I always wonder why nobody thinks Green Arrow was the guy who beat Superman.

And in TDKSA, it took Batman, Flash, Green Arrow and the Atom all piling up on Superman to beat him.

Except for all those times he's worn power armor to go fight Superman himself

Or that time where he wore a Kryptonite ring that...gave him cancer...whoops, guess that didn't work out!

Yeah, all those stories of him putting on power armor and fighting Superman all led to him losing. The only time he ever came close was when he was able to depower Superman or in some way incapacitate him, like All-Star Superman.

Also, The Dark Knight Strikes Again was...no. It was a story full of no.

Yeah, all those stories of him putting on power armor and fighting Superman all led to him losing.

Well, yeah. Whatever the approach is... he ultimately has to lose anyway. Or else he just kills Superman. And the comic is over, which will never happen. Even his 'victories' have to be just temporary.

Just like, well, Batman doesn't have to beat Superman permanently whenever they fight, or even wants to.

[up] Except in those battles, it's not even close. Lex's power suit doesn't even come close to Superman's powers. That's why the post-Crisis writers discarded it as stupid — because it was.

For me, Superman is more complex as an emotional and symbolic character than a physical one. Any fights and physical conflicts he's involved in - even things as menial and boring as a crashing asteroid or something - are just window dressing to compliment the underlying theme that the conflict is (hopefully, presumably) presenting - which is the idea that this impossible, godlike being is just as weighed down by human emotions and problems as the rest of us. The humanization of a messiah figure - a guy who's a cubicle nerd that can't get a date with the hot chick who works next to him, a guy that goes out and works for a newspaper just to observe other humans and better understand himself, and feels like because he understands them he owes it to them to save them - because they saved him first.

Clark's powers and fights are always going to be boring and have the same outcome that everyone debates over. But he's a great character, and that's what these movies really have to grasp and dig into.
