Not Tropeworthy (new crowner 8/2/13): Completed Fic

That's only three days. Normally we leave a crowner up for at least a week total.

Shoboni, there's no hurry. Crowners are allowed to run at least three weekdays (since forum traffic falls off over the weekends — as you noted, the activity fell off on Saturday — that's exactly why we want them open three weekdays.) in order to let people who don't check in several times a day to see it. This one was made on Friday — today is the second weekday it's been up. It will stay open til at least tomorrow to meet the "three weekdays" standard.

Also, as long as they haven't stabilized, they are left open. The fact that the vote count has changed in the last few hours means that this one hasn't stabilized yet.

I wish the last person to say that would've clarified weekdays.

I propose a rename to Completed Fics, as this will now be an index of completed fics rather than a definition page.

I also propose that oneshots are excluded from the definition, as this trope is an aversion of Dead Fic and oneshots cannot become dead.

(Per the three-day rule, the existing crowners must remain up for one more day before the new ones go up.)

I don't even know if we have any one-shots on the wiki...

I forgot it was weekdays only.

I'm sure we have a handful. And yeah, one-shots should be excluded.

Personaly, I didn't even think of those. I was concentrating on the bigger fics.

Of course we have one-shots. How about Cupcakes? That is definately not a Completed Fic.

Maybe we could make a One Shot index for those someday or something.

That is a good idea. There are plenty of One Shots. Just a few from MLP, there's: Patty Cakes, Pinkie Watches Paint Dry, Rainbow Factory, Are You Kidding?! There’s Porn of Us?!, and Party of None, to name a few.

So, where are we?

If that's an option, then make an index of one-shots and of dead fics, and just let people assume that everything else is a completed fic.

That seems... very arbitrary.

It's not ideal, but it's definitely better than having an index for completed fics.

How, exactly, is that better? The reason that Completed Fic is a thing is that most fics aren't completed.

When it comes to indexes for pages people want to find, I'd think having one for actually completed works is far better than for snippets or unfinished works...

Currently, we must make an index for Completed Fic. I think we have an index of Dead Fic, and it has been proposed to make an index of one-shot fic. How about we finish the first one, check on the second one, and send the third to ykttw so we can close this thread?

That's not a better idea at all, that just sounds like a convoluted way for the people that want it cut to get their way even though they're losing.

And it would be horrible because you'd have to crosscheck every thing on the wiki with that index to find the complete ones. Just a complete list of finished fics is far easier to use.

The current Dead Fic page is a definition and list of examples of fics both with and without work pages.

Should we maybe cut it down to works with pages, or leave it?

I'd support that, given the entire argument given in this thread that Dead Fics are a huge majority, but that's probably other thread.

So, should we come to a decision and close this up?
