Poor Image: Tomboy And Girly Girl

I can identify the tomboy by her sporty outfit, but I don't think the girl on the left really look that girly. I don't know anything about the anime, but to me it just looks like she's wearing a school uniform. If I could make a suggestion, I think a picture of Ami and Yumi from Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi would fit. [1]◊ (It doesn't have to be that picture.) I think their contrasting appearances (Yumi's skull t-shirt and spike collar, Ami's dress and flower in her hair) make it easier to tell which is which.

Fixed the tag - you need to put the title in CamelCase.

This was the topic of a previous thread and it shows the trope for me, so it's Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Personally, I think the current has both mannerisms and clothing pointing to the trope, while the suggestion is only the latter (and I am not 100% sure that that clothing is associated with tomboys)

I barely see it in the suggestion. The current is a little subtle on some details, but it works, due to the contrast between them.

I suggested this one back during the last discussion. It was not chosen, but I found the objections ("Neither one looks particularly like a tomboy" and "They don't look that different") to be unconvincing. There are substantial differences in hair style (short, cropped vs long loose and curling), clothing (tailored skirt suit with heeled shoes, and hat vs. short sleeved shirt, men's-style vest, jeans cuffed up, and bare feet) and posture (sitting perfectly straight with impeccable posture vs. laying down with her feet up the wall).

Never saw it like that, but now that you mention it there is that degree of ambiguity about whether the one is even a tomboy at all.

10 works pretty well, though it would be awesome if there were a version without the creases.

But that's a story for another time.

Yeah, it's a picture of a vintage poster that was, at some point, folded in sixth. I think it was a thing you could mail away for, and it was folded to fit the envelope. I've never seen one that wasn't creased. Maybe one of our photoshop wizards could make the scarring less noticeable (hint hint?)

It was suggested late in the discussion, and there was a heavy "I prefer images from anime" thing going on. And it was up against the current image, (which was already the current image). Septimus linked to the thread in one of the early posts of this thread. It's an interesting read, if only for a glimpse at what the IP thinking used to be.

Even though I wasn't there for the first discussion I apologize on behalf of anime fans for picking the current over that, it's just perfect. Toss that up.

Do we have a completely different group from before? The last crowner had the current be the only one in the green at 11 with 17 for and 6 against and the Parent Trap-Haley Mills in red at -4 with 4 for and 8 against.

I am neutral on using 10 instead of the current.
