No one can think of two movies they like for similar reasons?
If you like Watership Down, you might enjoy Plague Dogs. Maybe.
I've always wanted to screw with people with this phrase with two clearly different movies:
"If you enjoy National Velvet, you'll clearly love Blue Velvet!"
Alright, lemme give it a go.
If you like 500 Days of Summer, you might like (a lot more) High Fidelity.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again. If you loved Toy Story, you'll love Toy Story 2.
Am I doing it right?
If you loved Scott Pilgrim Vs The World you'll love Wreck It Ralph
This is off to a great start. Links to all the pages would be helpful. Two titles that are in the same franchise or have a common actor are okay if they are otherwise similarly good, but I'd rather pairings that are less obvious. Don't forget to say if you agree with something if you've seen both movies.
If you like The Princess Bride, I suggest Secondhand Lions.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWow, that's funny because PB is one of my all time favorites, but I hated Secondhand Lions.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Huh, really? Why is that?
I love them both, but I despise the third film I could compare to those two, Big Fish. The running theme in all three is the intergenerational bond established between a young man and his father-figure(s) through the telling of tall tales and swashbuckling adventures.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableNow this is just getting weird, 'cause I like Big Fish.
I guess nothing in Secondhand Lions really captured my interest. The story segments were kinda boring, and I thought the kid was really bland.

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Huh, really? He doesn't show a lot of personality at the beginning, I agree, but I think he's sympathetic because of his family situation, and as he's allowed to flourish he becomes more a character in his own right. And he gets clever and drily witty. :)
Big Fish irritates me because the entire reconciliation process is on the shoulders of the son. The father doesn't change at all over the course of the story, so he basically forces his son to come to understand him without attempting to understand his son at all. That's a bittersweet ending at best, not the happy ending the film tries to sell it as. And the fact that he gets that reward at the end of a film in which he's been nothing but annoying to watch takes the rest of the enjoyment out of watching it for me.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWell, I don't really think the father was supposed to change. It's more about the son coming to realize that he's in the wrong, and his father's stories are just his way of coping with life, but there's a lot of truth in them.
I might have to watch SL again. It's been a while.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.I think that's pretty much exactly why it rubs me the wrong way. :P The fact that the son is able to come to terms with his father's coping mechanisms doesn't really change the fact that his father actually was a pretty terrible father, who doesn't care enough to make any effort to understand why his son is so frustrated with him. The ending shows that the son has sought out his father with his whole heart, telling him a story of his own. The son truly loves his father, but the father does not reciprocate; the relationship is not truly restored, despite the son's best efforts. A tragic ending.
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable...bump?
If you liked Primer, then depending on why you liked it you may like Memento or Moon.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableIf you like Inception, I recommend Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!Can we ask for movie recommendations here too? I think this is a great idea, but I have limited familiarity with movies.
What do you mean ask for movie recommendations?
Isn't that the point of this thread?
If you want to ask for recommendations go here. In this thread you can tell what two similar movies are that you've seen that you like. If a person has seen one they can go see the other.
If you HATED Are We There Yet?, then you'll HATE RV: Runaway Vacation.

MY EYES ARE SO CUTE THEY WILL KILL YOU
Here's something I hope we can do. If you've seen two movies that you like for similar reasons you list them. If someone thinks that one was good and not the other then they say so. On the other hand, if they agree that the pairing is good they say that. Ideally we'd have a crowner so it can be seen that a certain number of people recommend two movies together but the same number disagree, so they cancel each other out, or there's a pairing where all the people who have seen both like them both. To start with:
If you like Hitch I recommend How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days.
