So I've been playing more Shin Megami Tensei IV.

I haven't forgotten my Kamen Rider / Shin Megami Tensei crossover, I just want to beat this game as it's the only one I own so far. Whether I will get more depends on whether I can do something about my current gaming backlog, which is new for me.

I haven't even written anything down yet, but I got some vague ideas.

Plus, there are still a few more Rider series I want to watch. I caught up on Double and OOO's, and the movies that came during that time.

I only have Ultimatum, Z, The rest of the Fateful Sengoku battle that I haven't seen yet, and Heisei Vs Showa. I may consider watching some older series for reference as well. I've only seen Ryuki and Faiz for pre double Heisei, and haven't watched any Showa at all (something I kinda feel I should do).

Still a lot of work to do. I can't even say when it will start. I also have to check Youtube Videos of other games in the series as well. It's a lot of researching to do.

But I haven't abandoned this idea yet. I may even get to start it before I give up on it.tongue

Cross posted from Tokusatsu thread:

So I'm still kinda going slowly on my Kamen Rider / Shin Megami Tensei crossover.

Still haven't beaten IV yet (got other games I'm playing, so it's slowing me down a lot) Also, since I plan to use some characters from Devil Survivor 2, I want to wait for Record Breaker (the english title for Break Record) to come out, and see if there is anything there I want to use.

I have however, caught up on the full Neo Hesei era, with the exception of the Golden Soccer Cup (since it's not subbed yet, or at least not subbed on the place that I saw) and the most recent Movie Wars movie (since it just came out, so it also hasn't been subbed yet).

I got other things to do, but at some point, I will hopefully start writing some preliminary notes to get myself started.

Double post( well, I'm well past double honestly) and Cross Posted from Tokusatsu and Kamen Rider threads:

S'up bitches!

Watching me some Newga Kuuga!

I stopped at ep 6 the last time, just caught ep 7, and am doing episode 8 as I write this.

That idea Kamen Rider / Shin Megami Tensei idea is still in my head, but I feel I got a lot more research to do.

I still gotta finish IV, watch some more of Devil Survivor, and I want to wait for Desu 2 Overlocked to see if there's anything there I want to use.

I may also check out Nocturne, which I observed a bit of, and maybe Strange Journey as well.

In terms of Rider series, I'm more or less good, but I'm checking out Kuuga anyway, and maybe I'll see about some Showa series as well. It doesn't feel right not to watch at least some.

I promise, sometime before the next Millennium, I will start.....thinking....about .....when....I will......start....to write this.......

....hopefully.

Man, I've taken up a lot of posts with this one.

Contemplating running a P3 crossover quest over at Sufficient Velocity.

Anyone have characters they might be interested in playing as the lead?

Ryoga?

Oreki Hotarou from Hyouka?

George de Sand?

Sgt Sagara Sousuke?

I recognize all but the second of those guys, unless we're not thinking of the same Ryouga. In which case, I only recognize the latter two.

Is there another? Probably.

Is he as well known? Probably not.

.....

Huh. Kinda funny that there aren't many Ryougas now that I think about it.

Then again, there aren't many Ranmas, Genmas Akanes (though that's a bit more common I think), Nabikis, Kunos, Kodachis, or Souns, and I'd damned positive there's only one Happosai.

Kasumi is a damned common name however.

George would have interesting interactions with that Frenchman guy from Persona 3. And with all of the female cast, from what I know about him.

Sousuke would really help SEES get their "Execution" up to proper standards. Writing from his POV might be tricky at times, though.

That guy from Hyouka has keen observation abilities and powerful deductive mind. This might be more relevant for Inaba, however. He's also lazy, and would probably freak out a lot. I liked that series, by the way.

Ryouga (and yes, I'm talking about Hibiki) would... Huh, other than his martial arts, I'm not sure how he'd be able to help, since he has a tendency to get lost. Although, finding a way (I'm talking from the author's perspective) to keep him in Gekk... Uh, in one place for so long might result in a very interesting plot hook just on it's own.

I've settled on the character options.

Quest will still be held on Sufficient Velocity, but things are slow there, so I'll open up voting here as well.

What are your parents like?

[]Dead. You killed them yourself. ...you're not proud of that.

[]You've never met your estranged father, but your mother is pretty much normal.

[]Your dad was a selfish prick before he died, and you don't remember your mother. Your foster parents were totally cool, though.

[]Your constructor is a scientist of justice, and his wife is secretly a corporate supervillain (not that you're aware of that). They love each other very much.

[]You didn't get on very well with your loner scientist dad, but you've still got baggage over how someone killed him right in front of you. You've never met your mother, nor do you know anything about her.

[]You never had parents to begin with.

Three male options, three female options. Pick one plz?

[X] No parents to begin with.

I voted for this because this option is the closest I can think of to Sgt Sagara. Is he even there?

No (in fact, you voted for a lady protag), but one of the other characters is fairly similar to Sousuke.

I don't actually have a thread proper for the quest yet - I'm still waiting on the ideas thread for more people to vote. ...although, that seems to be working out not well at all, so I may as well do a thread proper...

EDIT: You ask for a link, and a link you shall have.

Anyhow. No Sousuke, but there are actually two socially stunted teenage military commandos: Setsuna F. Seiei, the first option and Rei Ayanami, the option you actually voted for.

Looks like the new reveal of Persona 5 is fanfic material, especially with the main guys being a robbery crew.

I figured if I post this on this thread as well, it will be actually relevant. And, who knows, someone might even enjoy it.

When Arisa, Suzuka, Fate and Nanoha came to Hayate with another visit, she again already had company. It was the guy with the headphones, like before; and instead of that pretty blonde boy there was another, older guy. Also blonde, he was much lager in size, and knelt at Hayate's side, holding her hand. When the girls walked in, he frowned at Suzuka and Arisa, then glared at the other two.

The headphones guy - what was his name, again? - was in the middle of telling something amusing, apparenly. He was making a face and holding his hands at a weird angle; Hayate was giggling quietly.

"Oh, hi! You came again!" he greeted the girls. "How have you been?"

"Arisa, Suzuka! And Nanoha, and Fate!" The ill girl waved her hand. "So nice to see you."

As they started talking, the large guy shifted to sit between Hayate and Fate-and-Nanoha. He now clutched her hand more posessively and still glared at the other two. It looked like he didn't follow the conversation at all, just giving the two an evil eye all the time.

"Why are you glaring?" Nanoha finally asked, unnerved.

"I ain't. My eyes are like that," he spat out. Nanoha couldn't help but think that he sounded familiar.

"Kanji, it's not nice to lie," Hayate scolded him. Incredibly, the blond managed to look ashamed and threatening at the same time.

The doors opened, and two more girls walked in. One was very pretty, with long dark hair. The other one had short brown hair, and was... Less pretty.

"Oh, you must be Hayate's friends," the pretty girl said. "She told us many things about you. It's nice to finally meet."

"Hello, I'm Suzuka. It's incredible, how many relatives Hayate has!"

"Ah, well... Technically, we aren't all family. It's just, we're close friends, so a cute little cousin like Hayate is like a cute little cousin to all of us."

The short-haired girl only chuckled nervously.

As introductions were made, the pretty girl turned out to be Yukiko, and the other one Chie. And again, Nanoha thought she already heard their voices somewhere. They all chatted some more, and finally it was time for Arisa and her friends to go home. The headphones guy - his name was Yousuke, Nanoha remembered now - and Kanji were leaving too. As they were saying goodbyes, Yukiko stepped out of the room with them.

"Thank you for visiting like this," she told the younger girls. "You want to cheer Hayate up, and we appreciate it. You're good people, and it would be..." She looked away and sighed, suddenly looking very sad. "It would be nice if you visit more."

"Sure," Nanoha agreed enthusiastically, "We're Hayate's friends, after all."

And so they left. Kanji was striding a bit ahead of them, glaring at nothing. Yousuke hung back, and whispered, making sure that only Fate and Nanoha could hear him:

"We need to talk. It's about Hayate."

Puzzled as for why would he call them specifically, they separated from their friends and kept company with the guys under a made-up pretense. Kanji slowed down, but his steps were heavier now. Yousuke turned up the music so it was audible without putting the headphones on, and bobbed his head to the rhythm.

"You said it was about Hayate?" Fate asked.

Yousuke made a thoughtfull noise and dialed down the music. Kanji didn't turn around, silently glaring.

"Do you guys have siblings? Cousins, maybe?" the friendlier boy finally said.

"Um, I have a brother and a sister, they're both older!" Nanoha volunteered.

"Lucky you," Yousuke smiled. "Among us, we all were the only child. But, it's as Yukiko said. There was this one little cousin, who was family to all of us. Hmm, those were fun times." He tilted his head back, a melancholy smile on his face. Kanji, however, slouched and glared harder.

"So it was somebody else, not Hayate? But you feel the same about her?"

"Yup."

"But what of this involves us?" Fate inquired.

"Well, your friends - Arisa and Suzuka - they're girly girls. Middle school, cute presents, pink napkins, some frills... You know," Yousuke made a vague gesture, "Girl stuff. But you guys are into this valour and justice..."

"Hardcore justice," Kanji grumbled.

"Right, that stuff."

That was very vague but pretty accurate. Nanoha nodded.

"So, what I'm trying to say here..."

"It's the same damm thing again," Kanji interrupted him; it didn't look like the large boy listened to the conversation at all. "Just seeing her like this, in a bed..."

"Well, as you can probably guess, it was kinda traumatic," Yousuke continued. "We couldn't help our cousin back then, couldn't do anything. But with Hayate... This time we can. We can do something. It's just..." He sighed and turned to Nanoha. "Your family. Can you imagine what they could do if you were in trouble? What wouldn't they do to help you?"

"Hmm..." Nanoha was aware that her family - especially her dad - were capable of doing things that weren't exactly nice. Much more aware than she showed, anyway. After all, her dad couldn't get that kind of scars by being nice to people.

"So you see, we know how to do something that might help Hayate, but she'd be upset if we did that." Yousuke scratched his head, looking at the sky again. "We might hide things from Suzuka and Arisa, but you will find out. We aren't... No, we aren't asking for your help, or anything - that would be just lame. Not even forgiveness... Just... Don't let her find out, okay? As long as possible, we want to protect Hayate."

"I understand," Fate nodded.

"We understand," Nanoha joined in, "But what's it that you do? We might be able to help you, more than you think."

"Making me feel even more like a douchebag," Kanji grumbled again. "You wanna know what we do? THIS!"

Without warning, he tuned around and swung a huge sword at them - a very familiar, lightning-bolt-shaped blade that the black robot used, on the night when Nanoha was attacked. Jumping away, she realized why his voice was so familiar. Fate was already transforming into her Barrier Jacket, so Nanoha followed suit. Kanji took a step to chase after them - and suddenly he was the black robot, with the skull and the bones painted on him.

"THIS is what we do!" He yelled, attacking the girls. "Hunting people, monsters, artifacts, and other stuff! And when we have enough, then maybe Hayate won't die!"

The girls split - Fate took to the sky, while Nanoha remained at street level. Kanji kept chasing after the latter, and a weird-looking thing in a jumpsuit (Yousuke's combat form, apparently) sent a few blades of wind at the former. Nanoha tried to give a telepathic call for help... But it didn't work. Then she heard a new voice, that of an older girl, saying:

"Jamming at full! Engaging Shadow Zone!"

Glancing at the nearby side-street, she saw a female figure in a gown, with an antenna for a head. The world shifted to dull, subdued tones - and then Kanji went all out, demanding all of Nanoha's attention with his scenery-destroying attacks. He fought harder, less reluctantly than the first time they met. But Nanoha (or rather, Raising Heart) had a new trick herself. Dodging another deadly swing, she blasted Kanji point-blank. He stumbled, and the girl leapt at the opening...

"What do you mean, 'Hayate won't die'? Do you know what's killing her?"

"Shut up," the robot grumbled and tried to stab Nanoha. She dodged, but her Barrier Jacket flared up anyway - and the girl was slammed into the ground by another melee attack.

"Unfortunately, we do," The new arrival wore blue, a funky helmet and a cape that looked like insectoid wings. It was also very quick. "The Compendium is draining Hayate's Linker core, and it will do so untill it's filled. A recent strain... Made it worse. The same thing that gave us to her is now taking her away from us."

For a few moments, Nanoha was so focused on defending that she couldn't talk. Straining herself, she managed:

"Are you going to fill up the Black Compendium? But that... It will kill her!"

"Fucking LIES!" Kanji roared and unleashed his full rage. Attacking Nanoha relentlessly, with no regard to his own safety, he would have killed her... If his partner didn't hold back.

"Tell us more," the blue thing asked.

"But that's not true!" the robot insisted.

"Kanji, we have to know."

This argument switched Kanji from murderous rage to a barely restrained one. The blue thing also remained on guard. Hastily, Nanoha told them everything she knew about completing the Black Compendium.

"No, no, no!" The robot tried to attack Nanoha again, but the blue thing got in his way. "This shouldn't be possible, it can't be!"

"And what if it is?"

Kanji yelled, like he never yelled before, and tossed his sword away with all of his might.

"Dammit!" He knelt and started punching the ground. The street cracked, but he kept pounding and pounding away, even as he turned back to human. "Dammit, dammit, dammit!"

The blue thing also transformed, into a person in a blue gakuran-style uniform. This person patted Kanji on the back, and addressed Nanoha:

"Our concern is Hayate's life above else. If there is any way we can cooperate to save her, we are willing to do it."

"We cannot allow it," said the Masked Man, stunning both of them with a powerful spell.

Unit-kun might recall a similar idea he had once. If you do, how's it shaping?

So with the new info on Persona5 out there, I'm still brainstorming my Rider / Megami Tensei story.

I'd been thinking of using [[Persona4 Yuu / Souji]] as the main character, but the new guy for 5 has my eye now, and I feel that Yuu has gotten enough play in the fandom (and enough milking from Atlus) so I may use him. I'll use the time it takes for the game to come out to think more about my setting and some of my other characters.

Also waiting for more info on Devil Survivor 2 Break Record, as a few characters from there might make it into the game as well.

Been watching Kuuga, and it's given me some new inspiration as well (I'm thinking of using something similar to the Gouram actually).

Might check out a Showa series at some point. I feel I've been putting it off to be honest. And it would feel right not having something Showa related.

Still have to beat Shin Megami Tensei IV and still need to check out some other games on Youtube as well. But there's a lot to draw from, and I just gotta decide where to go.

This idea still exists. I just gotta get off my butt and do it.
