Do subjective tropes belong in YMMV?

Specifically the 'Deconstruction' trope. If 'Mary Sue' belongs in YMMV, doesn't 'Deconstruction' belong there, too? They're both subjective; whether or not a character is a Mary Sue or a Deconstruction varies from person to person.

Deconstruction is not subjective, though. How well a character, trope, or genre is deconstructed may be, but that they're deconstructed isn't.

Hitch-hiking here, what about Tropes that include a statement of a character's beauty/ugliness? Not as an informed attribute.

If they are tagged as YMMV, they go on the YMMV tab.

Attraction Tropes are for when the other characters act like a character is good looking. It's about how the character is treated by others in the story, not what the audience thinks.

To elaborate, if a female character walks through the shot and the male characters whistle and waggle their eyebrows, that's a factual, In-Universe use of an attractiveness trope.

If it's the audience's opinion of the attractiveness of the character, then it's YMMV.

Well, in some cases it's possible to objectively tell that a character is supposed to be attractive without other characters reacting to it.(and with or without the viewer actually thinking it.)

Take for example a Hot Witch.
Does she have sickly green skin covered in warts or is her skin normal?
Does she look like an 'old hag' or fairly young woman?
How 'curvy' is she?
Does she show of those 'curves' with tight and revealing clothes?
Does she have legs?
Is she part of any Fanservice?
And so on...

How do you start a YMMV page or tab? I want to add one for Deep Dive Daredevils, but I'm clueless. sad

Just hitching on here, if you want to suggest that a trope become YMMV/subjective, do you post in the TRS? I believe UST should be classed as such, but don't want to waste anyone's time writing in the wrong forum. Cheers!

Yep, TRS would be the place.
