Previous thread. Didn't reach a consensus then.
Not making a point with that; just noting it so we're all up to speed.
Moon◊I was pretty sure there had been one before but couldn't find it. Thanks.
Honestly, I lean towards yanking it (and along with it, deleting the Firefly example from comic books since it's not an example).

As a replacement, inspired by the awesome picture for Fisher King chosen a while ago, how about dead Mufasa and mourning Simba? It's well known enough, and everyone has seen it, right, so not very spoilerific.
Dead Mufasa and Simba◊. I'm totally not choking up right now.
I don't know about replacement, but the current picture? How are we supposed to know if they are remotely important characters?
Pierce its mouth with a rusty hook and pull.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Might be a slightly unorthodox approach but could this pic of a headstone work? [1]◊
I like it
Not too bad.

Either is a huge improvement.

I think Willbyr finally snapped
It's supposed to be what goes on the gravestone...I'm not where I can access the generator right now.
That just shows the default text.
... so it does. Anyway, it's the same as what Willbyr said, but the quote was "I have Plot Armo-"

It is certainly non-canon, since among the dead is Wash, who is an example of this trope, but not in this case and is a spoiler. I'm not sure Mufasa really sets up the Anyone Can Die mood, since no other characters besides Scar die. Mufasa's death marks the start of a time of death for Pride Rock, just not for the main characters. So far though, it's my favorite suggestion. I'm not big on the gravestone idea.
Actually, that's pretty funny

Works for me.
I'm not a fan. I prefer 6.1.
Perhaps
Birth - Death
might work better?
I like "Anyone" a bit better than "<Insert Name>", and I like the epitaph for 6 better than the others.

"Birth" - "Death" works a little better. I'm not really crazy about the epitaph in 6.1.
Here's another couple of takes:

I vote #6. That is hilarious and awesome.
I think #6 is the best one. The "Anyone" suggestions are essentially just repeating the trope name.
Check out my fanfiction!
It's a picture of a bunch of dead people. Nothing to indicate that they're main characters. Hell, I've seen Firefly a dozen times and I had no idea who they were since it's a comic book panel and Firefly's best known for being a live action series. And it's not even an example.
To be honest, I'm not sure how this can be illustrated. It's tough to convey "main characters being killed" but they definitely need to be more recognizable than a comic book panel based off of a live-action show.
