Just a Face and a Caption: Make The Dog Testify

JAFAAC. Just because the caption is a speech bubble photoshopped in doesn't make it any less so.

Surely there HAS to be ONE property out there that offers a shot of an animal on the witness stand.

Can't think of one right now, but...

I like Enlong's suggestion better.

#3 seems like a parroty rendition of the trope title, so while good, it's not as amusing as #5.

5 is funny. 3 is not. Therefore, I vote for 5.

I think the dog in #5 seems intelligent enough to testify on his own. A parrot, less so, but on the other hand, I get the feeling it's just there to repeat what someone said.

I prefer #3, as it's more direct. I also don't think #5 is funnier.

I grabbed the images from this youtube video. It's a letsplay, so just ignore the audio.

The relevant bit is around 6 minutes.

There are a few screenshots from that bit floating around. Like this◊, or this image of the parrot on the stand◊.

If we wanted it in a single shot, I think a clip of the bird squawking on the stand with "TESTIMONY" blinking in the corner would be pretty good.

Personally I prefer the parrot. It's a clear illustration of the trope at its most basic form.

The dog thing is cute and funny but doesn't illustrate the trope as well. Plus, there's not much point in having an image which is only text. Also, it's not as immediately comprehensible as the parrot. And usually this trope involves a normal animal which is incapable of actually giving intelligent testimony. A dog which seems to have the writing skills of an elementary-schooler isn't a typical example.

That's how I feel. The dog one is adorable and funny, but not a better example or image.

The parrot works well enough to get a from me, I just think we're losing an opportunity for wit by not using the dog. *shrug*
