Yup. Starting Days covers the Middle School era, I think. It's supposed to build off of High Speed! as well, but yeah. Sucks that Rei and a few others might not come and just be reduced to a cameo, since it's just focusing on Makoto and Haru w/ two other new dudes.

The website for High Speed just updated! Pictures for Nagisa, Rei, Rin, and Sousuke are added in now. Real excited! Plus new posters that show what the main four characters' intentions are, like Makoto on Haru and Haru on the relay.

This trailer and character preview trailers have been out for this month.

So if the spoilers for the movie are true, show actually went gay.

If the spoilers are right then Haru didn't even want to be a pro swimmer at all and that season 2 Eternal Summer was basically him giving up being "Free" to do what others want him to do rather than because he wants to do it. Heck he didn't even want to read the letter from Rin. Also Rin had Australian friends afterall making his angst in season 1 and the episode where they went back there and talked about how he didn't have any friends moot. Just Rin being dramatic~

You could tell that was the case from just the end of season 2, that ending was much too neatly wrapped up. Haruka spends the entire season dragging his feet over the issue until nearly the last minute when he says he's going to do exactly what everyone said he should be doing the entire season.

Crunchyroll has uploaded season 1 dubbed on their site. Same cast, so nice sigh of relief there. Unfortunately, Tatum apparently hasn't curbed his writing tendencies...not really a big deal for me, but I know how the more rabid fans are.

So they DID go back and dub Season 1!

Discotek still has the license for season 1 though, so I can only assume there'll be a rerelease with the dub.

Dubs under different licenses are getting very weird.

You should see how bad NISA has it thanks to Aniplex — they've been screwed out of two seasons of WORKING!!, as well as the Ano Hana TV series (which might've gotten a dub later on).

Saw the movie recently. There's also more Free! stuff planned from what I heard.

I like how the movie retconned Rin having no friends in Australia.

I just saw it.

• Asahi and Ikuya: I like Asahi, he reminds me of the Mikoshiba brothers, so that's always good. Ikuya I'm kinda neutral to, although I do like his plotline. I was also expecting his voice to be higher, so that was a bit weird.
• Haru and Makoto: Seriously what in the ever loving fuck happened in this movie holy crap. So that happened. Just. Wow. I don't remember this happening in the LN. And I never thought anything would top Their break-up/make-up during s2, but this is super gay and I love it TT__TT
• Miscellaneous: I wasn't expecting Rei to show up at all, so his scene with Asahi was a very pleasant surprise. Now I wanna know how that reunion would turn out. (Also, as someone who've always thought Rei looked better without glasses, he looked really cute with them on. o_o)

I know it's not going to happen, but after Yuri On Ice proved that it can be done to great success I wish they'd make MakoHaru official.

Speaking as a multishipper, I highly doubt that any ship involving Makoto, Haru, or Rin will become canon because making MakoHaru canon would enrage the RinHaru fans, or vice versa, and then there would be a substantial drop in merchandise sales. Reigisa, however, has a chance. A small chance. I, too, was optimistic after Yuri!!! on Ice was a smash hit, but I'm no longer too hopeful after the disaster that was Kado: The Right Answer. Obviously a mishandling/denial of Reigisa wouldn't be that bad, but I'm just not going to get my hopes up.

I admit that Rin is my bias, so I'm really excited to see him in Sydney, but if they're doing all of his scenes in English there's a huge risk of Narm. Rin's English was cute for part of one episode, but this could easily be too much.

Sorry for double post, but the trailer for Dive to the Future has dropped! What are you most hyped for?

Rin is best boy and Gou is supposed to be the Audience Surrogate, but that would dip into a straight use of the sleazy anime tropes that I can't stand and that this show mostly avoids. I was rewatching some episodes to get hype for season 3 (ONE WEEK) and saw some troubling signs of this.

(I'm sorry for posting so much I'm just really excited and I hope other people are too)

Hiyori and Ikuya managed to up the homosubtexy a bajillion with all the Little Mermaid talk. A story literally about someone without a vagina wishing for one so the Prince notices them.

And of course the reason why Hans wrote said story in the first place.

I'm worried that season 3 might suffer the last-quarter trainwreck. The bit about Mikhail somehow being Nitori's uncle made no sense, and this Albert guy just shows up out of nowhere and his voice acting is TERRIBLE, oh my god, and why is the world college champion even in a Japanese regional competition. At least Rin finally had more than one line and we got to meet Isuzu Mikoshiba.

This entire season was a trainwreck the moment it started. Too many characters and Ikuyas crazy stalker.

But I kinda like how its heading to a crash and burn. Made it oddly entertaining.

So this recent episode starts off a new, shorter arc of sorts with a new swimming opponent from Sweden who has ridiculously brilliant skills. Also apparently he's the first cast member to speak completely in English, and while this actor speaks it very well, his acting still isn't very good. I'm glad the drama and angst seems to be over. I do miss the antics of Nagisa and Rei though.
