Okay, asking for help because there's a lot of them and I'm not that good at grasping the difference between Trust Password and Something Only They Would Say, but I do know that there's seems like a lot of mixup between the two.

And help with the "episodes share a naming theme" cleanup.

Elemental Shapeshifter has several entries where the person undoubtedly changes their substance, but they never change their form while using their element(s).

The trope definition explicitly says "An Elemental Shapeshifter is a Shapeshifting character".

I've started a discussion on the Discussion page with the Human Torch entry. (Which needs fixing for another reason anyway.)

On Neptunia, I found this (and cut it):

  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Rom and Ram, respectively.
    • Neptune and Nepgear are also this since Neptune's got light blue stripes on her socks while Nepgear's stripes on her socks are pink. Neptune and Nepgear's alternate costumes also count.
    • IF and Compa are also made into this since IF wears a blue longcoat and Compa has light congo-pink hair.

All the characters mentioned are girls, and from what I understand the characters have to actually be female and male respectively for this to apply, not just one more "feminine" and one more "masculine" character like Tomboy and Girly Girl or Sensitive Guy and Manly Man, and even if going for this it would be a ZCE regarding how the characters would actually fit this. (Sidenote, Rom and Ram, and all other characters for that matter, would be mentioned in the wrong order too since the former wears blue and the latter wears pink)

Could some take a look at some non-Main entries in:

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/relatedsearch.php?term=Main/AddedAlliterativeAppeal

Because there's a lotta misuse about Alliterative Name-s, and troping our own words.

Although, Shapeshifting cleanup into Voluntary and Involuntary, since that's an index, is harder, because the proper context isn't always available.

Romantic Plot Tumor has the following entries:

  • This is actually kind of inverted in a story such as Berserk. Set in a world of dark, fantastic fantasy, Guts is always fighting monsters and traveling to new and strange places with his new team of companions. But despite the constant action and blood and gore that is present, some tend to forget that his main motivation in the story right now is centered around his love for Casca, since he is traveling to the distant island of Elfhelm in hopes that he can find a cure for her insanity so that they can be together again. The greater Myth Arc does involve a lot more than just their relationship (the story revolves around the relationship between Guts and his former friend turned foe Griffith), but Guts willingly put revenge aside for Casca, which adds to his Character Development. Due to how rarely new chapters come out, this has led to complaints that the series is spending too much time on fighting monsters, and not enough time on getting Casca cured so she and Guts can move forward. Casca is finally cured, Guts approaches her, they are about to talk... cut to more monster fighting.

  • Inverted in Splash. The film is billed as a Romantic Comedy and is one but eventually, the plot turns to rescuing Madison and protecting them from the government that wishes to "research" and dissect her.

I think both are shoehorned. Playing with a Trope says that YMMV tropes can't be played with, "it either happens straight or not at all". Cut?

Found in Tough Act to Follow:

  • Infinity Train: Voyage of Wisteria: This story comes right off the heels of Blossoming Trail, which was an insane adventure from start to end. To say this story has a lot to live up to would be an understatement.

This entry seems a bit gushy and doesn't really explain why Blossoming Trail was a Tough Act to Follow in the first place. Cut?

To our understanding, Tough Act to Follow requires the future work(s) to actually suffer from the previous work's success, as opposed to some people just vaguely being concerned in the general direction.

I meant Blossoming Trail - I'm raising an eyebrow at whether Tough Act to Follow can apply to a work that appears to be vehemently hated by at least one active segment of its 'fanbase'. (Again, I have no dog in this fight as I don't know the fic in question.)

I know this is late, but does that mean cut it?

If what nrjxll is saying is correct, it sounds like this fic series could use a cleanup thread similar to the one for Starfleet Magic. Any thoughts?

Edit: Axed.

[down] I'd for one say that's misuse.

[up]I believe so.

Do you all feel this entry from Characters.Miraculous Ladybug Chloe Bourgeois is misuse because Miraculous Ladybug isn't a video game?
  • Recurring Boss: She's been akumatized as the main villain of five episodes: "Antibug", "Queen Wasp", "Miracle Queen", "Queen Banana" and "Penalteam". She's also been akumatized back into Queen Wasp in "Mayura".

[up] - Misuse. Gotta be Video Game, otherwise there'd be a Non-Video Game section in its examples. Maybe:

Goldfish Poop Gang? Recurring Antagonist isn't a thing? Recurring Villain isn't either. I bet we have a Missing Super Trope on our hands.

Or you could look through Characters.Xiaolin Showdown Recurring Villains and see if anything fits.

From The Last Jedi

Flanderization: Luke's characterization in The Last Jedi as mentioned by Rian Johnson in the commentary is based on The Empire Strikes Back rather than the figure at the end of the OT. Luke's inaction is explained by Johnson as stemming from Luke feeling that his intervention at Cloud City ultimately hurt his friends, and they would be fine without him, even if eventually that failure led to him freeing Han Solo and destroying the Hutt family ruling in Tatooine. Luke's constant moping and self-pity is him regressing to the whining figure he was during his early training with Yoda, while his attack on Ben Solo is based on him reacting similarly to a vision of Darth Vader at Dagobah. Yoda in his return appearance also lapses back to his Empire era characterization, with his first meeting with Luke having him allude to his "always looking at the horizon" speech.

As I understand it, Flanderization is a trait being more exaggerated, whereas this is just character "regression", which feels like a different thing entirely.

Even then, I question the veracity of this bit for reasons I can't explain, other than Johnson has also said that heroes like Frodo are essentially stuck with the fears and scars of their journey

Found in Fake Defector:

  • Chip Whistler in Big City Greens becomes this in "Reckoning Ball". After discovering the Greens' kindness and heeding advice from Bill to "put in the work" before he can "reap the rewards", he pretends to apologize for his misdeeds and make amends with them, which is enough to woo Cricket into believing he really means it, and is the first to sign his forgiveness contract as proof before the rest sign as a family, but Gramma Alice remains suspicious. Now the CEO of Wholesome Foods and with his dad out of the picture, this gambit eventually results in the shutdown of Big Coffee and an ultimate battle to protect the Greens' legacy before it is destroyed forever by Chip's megastore expansion. Cricket soon realizes what he did and ultimately regrets his actions.

I think whoever added this has the dynamic the wrong way around: Chip is the villain who pretends to have turned over a new leaf to get at the heroes. This seems like a better fit for Heel Face Mole.

Apologies for the double post, but I found this on Visual Effects of Awesome:

  • The anime of Monster Musume may not hold a candle to most examples listed here, but the animation quality is well above most usual harem comedy adaptations. The last episode alone has several examples like numerous art shifts, the scene of Papi's takeoff and flight and Centorea's Disney Acid Sequence.

I don't really know how much leeway there is for subjectivity in Sugar Wiki compared to the normal part of the site, but the first sentence has me wondering if this might be a shoehorn. I'm also not really seeing any real explanation as to how these scenes qualify. This might be valid. If so, it could use some additional context.

On WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids.Star Trek, Troi's name is potholed to Token Evil Teammate. I really don't think that fits, since the worst things she's done were either A.) In self-defense, B.) While possessed, under mind control, etc. or C.) Extremely minor, such as calling someone a name.

For every low there is a high.

[up][up] I know Sugar Wiki's inherently a lot more more subjective than the main site, much like Darth Wiki. I'm just wondering if the entry I brought up actually counts for the trope.

It feels like it's relying on Overly Narrow Superlative to me, what with the "it's not as good as a lot of the things here, but it is good for a harem anime"

Maybe this isn't the right thread of this, however on Awesome.Oggy And The Cockroaches, there is a pothole that is misused. I put it in bold:

Would it be ok if I remove it because the main page states it's a Death Trope and nobody died; the show in question is a slapstick cartoon so characters can survive various things that are often lethal in other media (especially non-slapstick cartoons). Also, for the record, the original entry isn't Spoiler tagged.
