Worse than the dreaded Friendzone?

Last week, I was talking to this girl I really liked. I had gotten the courage to go up and talk to her around two months ago, and she really seemed to like me back. She even said I was sweet!

So, I had found out that this one girl had asked my love interest out to the movies even though she was straight and had refused, so I decided to ask at last:what is the relationship between us?

She said we were just friends, and she liked someone else.

Damn.

And yet, I still was nice to her, and even got her number(even though it won't work for some reason). But then, some complete douchebag told her that I was telling people we were going out, and even though I said I wasn't, she still told all her friends, and they told their friends. One of her friends(and former boyfriend) confronted me, and though I remained calm and told him I was doing no rumor spreading, he still told his friends I was the one behind it!

So, today at lunch, I was eating by myself(despite how I tried, her friends did NOT like me), when one of her friends(I like to call him "Messenger Boy") came up and told me that she wanted me to stop talking to her completely. No talking, texting, or calling. He said he would beat me up if he found out I was talking to her, and since she told her friends EVERYTHING, he wouldn't be in the dark for long.

So, I basically went from Potential, to Friendzoned, to this. What should it be called, and the hell should I do about it? Friendzoned seems better than this!

Outcast. Or worse. And if someone's spreading those rumors despite you rejecting them entirely, it sounds like you have an enemy.

Don't be surprised if that asshole tries to beat you up . . .

After all, the rumors KEEP growing directly after you refuse them.

Oh my God, we need to make a campaign to ban the use of the word "friendzone."

Because it doesn't exist? It's just a stupid, made up Hollywood thing used to discourage men from being overly friendly with their beloveds, and to encourage us to be distant-seeming bastards who leave our wanted one to their own devices until they're ready to join with us?

But is that really ALL you've gathered from this thread? The damn friendzone word?

Like okay I get feeling sad because of unrequited feelings, like, yeah, that's always bad, but this is just silly.

I tend to think about most people who seriously complain repeatedly about the friendzone "how the fuck do you even have friends to begin with".

Not directed at the OP of course, just an observation.

On topic, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Sounds terrible :/ I'd recommend setting the record straight with her in private at some point, if possible. And avoid the douchebag threatening you, like, don't even acknowledge his threats. That's what they hate the most, when you just don't care about them :P

I too hate the term "friendzone", it comes off as trying to a blame a person for not liking you back. At least in how people on the internet uses it. Anywho, that really sucks OP. If I were in your position, I would try to set things straight with her at least.

She shares everything with these people, to quote the Op.

If these assholes are jealous and doing shit to step between them, any effort she makes to calm them is going to result in a beating. I'll assume you don't have any friends of your own, which means you don't have any go betweens for your sake.

Just let it lie until school ends and get back in touch when those people can't do anything any more. Assuming they don't make up excuses to come after you, at which point, this might end tragically.

On second thought, report them to your school's authorities and get into peer counselling with her so it's all on record. Don't let them win. Start recording everything, and bring any further threats to the principal.

Urgh, "friendzone" is a terrible concept that needs to go away.

On topic:

If the phone number she gave you doesn't work, that means that she wanted you to fuck off and stop bothering her. Then you didn't stop bothering her, so she told her friends to confront you about it.

She doesn't like you, she is never going to date you, and you should just leave her alone.

But the reason she doesn't like him (as a person, that is—romancewise, you're right there) is because of something someone lied to her about.

Honestly, as a girl, if someone came up to me and said an acquaintance of mine was claiming romantic entanglement, he would have had to have done something else previously before I'd believe it.

I think that OP is either not telling the whole story, or he's oblivious.

I dunno. Still, if they're threatening to beat him up, that's really not cool no matter what the circumstances.

I dunno, I've gotten male friends to threaten a guy who wouldn't get the memo before.

Then again, that guy was texting me threats of rape, so that's a bit different.

Yeah, assuming the cops would listen. It's much more effective to just handle it with yourself and some friends.

It sounds like OP goes to school with horrible people.

But you'd have evidence of it right there on your phone. And I would think that people in law enforcement take crimes like that very seriously.

I had to fight bullies back when I was in elementary school, and I very much plan to teach my kids to do the same. So, in a way, I may kind of agree. Still, if a school is that violent something is very very wrong.
