Because what it's being used for is not likely even remotely to be what anyone who uses it is looking for?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThe only reason to make it a redirect at all is to avoid breaking the inbound links pointing to it. Which is the safer assumption: that someone who linked to it from an outside site meant "Red Herring" or that they intended to link to the page with the list of tropes?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Neither seems particularly likely, to be honest; I'm at a loss to explain how it has inbounds at all.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableIs there a way to see where the inbounds come from?

Any time you want to check inbounds, replace "Main.Dead Herring" with the page address.
At a guess, it probably has inbounds because it's a great name for a trope. It's just too bad we don't (yet) have anything to fit the name.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Entertainingly, one of the inbounds is about exactly that.
Oh, and nearly all of them are either false inbounds or else not confirmable.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI think that, assuming we care about these uncomfirmable inbounds, redirecting this page to any kind of related index is more useful than redirecting it to the term it's Snow Cloned off. Since the index has more diverse content, it is more likely to contain whatever it was that the user is looking for.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! So, are we set to redirect this to Death Tropes?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWorks for me.
EDIT: Actually, the name seems like it would fit Dead Star Walking. Any thoughts on making this a redirect to that?

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. How's that a red herring, though? I mean, I guess it's kind of a fakeout on a meta level, but when I think of "red herring" I think of something actually misleading in the context of the story.
They're both about misleading the audience that something or someone is more important than they really are. I think it's a good fit.
Check out my fanfiction!Fair point.
I'd actually prefer the name to Dead Star Walking, to be honest. After all, that is a meta Red Herring that relies on audience awareness of the cast-list, rather than the actual plot elements, to increase the impact of the unexpected death nicely.
Well, unless the headliner is somebody like Sean Bean, of course. Hmm... spotted a couple of problems. <gets out the staple gun to add some tropes to the explanations... doubt anybody will mind what I'm about to do...>

I have no objection to redirecting to DSW.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Alright, so, blank the current page and make it a redirect to Dead Star Walking?
Yeah, can we call this one?
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Obvious consensus in favour of redirecting to Death Tropes, so barring urgent objections I'll do that soon.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell, I think there's been a pretty strong consensus to make it a redirect to Dead Star Walking. At least, since it was suggested no one seems to have disagreed with it.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.OK, dewicked it and redirected it to Death Tropes. If we want to change that to Dead Star Walking, sure, do so.

Then I'm all in favour of cutting it. A future trope with the same name can still be YKTTW'd, but at this time I don't think there's any extant pages that it ought to actually be redirected to.
