Well, the writers of Batman The Animated Series, The Batman, Batman The Brave And The Bold, Holy Musical Batman, and The Lego Movie did it pretty well.

I shall watch Ao S AND Gotham...and Arrow and Flash and Constantine and Person of Interest and maybe the Blacklist, though that last one I might boxset again.

I have a long commute. Phones you can watch TV shows on are great grin

[up]I too will also be tuning in to Person of Interest when it comes on as well as Flash. And of course I can already see the "flash is better than shield" comments rolling in as we speak.

It really depends on how they handle the upcoming season. The lasts twists removed some of the problems from the first season (like: Why should SHIELD send a bunch of rookies to this kind of mission?) and hopefully they will go for a tighter connection to the movie and create it as some kind of built up for Avengers 2 (they could stumble over files concerning the twins for example). But the whole issue with Skye's parents doesn't excite me at all.

I want them to have a looser connection to the movie. Half the first season was weakened because they were so tied to what was going to happen in Cap2, it stole their freedom.

The movies already have the movies. I want the stuff that isn't the movies; Characters who won't get cinema outings and more intricate stuff that you can't fit in a two hour action movie, like how the rise of super-heros effects the world.

[up][up]Really? I thought that the first season was way too disconnected from the movies, which made it a very predictable run-of-the-mill series and only got better when they started to forge a visible connection to the "greater scale", showing what went on behind the scenes.

[up]By their own account, they pretty much had to do a bunch of boring done-in-ones because they were forbidden from doing anything related to HYDRA, and many of the characters they wanted to use were off-limits. Being tied to the movies hindered the series for much of the first season.

[up]They might have had to do done-in-ones, but they didn't have to be boring.

[up][up]Which meant they had plenty of time to properly built up the character and above all, feature SHIELD the way it was before everything fell apart. They could have shown how the news of the aliens impacted the population and how the different governments reacted to it. There is certainly a lot they could have done which didn't involve HYDRA. Instead they did a bunch of predictable and contrived plotted episodes, and a few which went right against what was already established. I still have a hard time to believe that Coulson would storm a Shield facility and kill the people working there to rescue one life with a procedure he knows is questionable. It didn't fit what was already established about him at all.

I think it is telling that the one character I really liked in the pilot (aside from Coulson naturally) was the one which only got a recurring role in the end.

[up]I mean Deathlok. Most likely because he was the only character who got a proper backstory and motivation. With everyone else, the show turned it into some sort of riddle, which is something, which rarely works for me. How am I suppose to identify with a character when I don't really know him/her?

Guys, is it just me, or is Trip being sidelined in favor of Lance Hunter? Sure, he's going to be a recurring character anyway, but the last episodes of Season 1 kinda built Trip up as a replacement for Ward. That, and this bait-and-switch has some pretty blatant Unfortunate Implications (far be it from me to be a PC SJW ASRC etc., but come on, the "token black guy" cliche has been worn to tatters long ago!).

I think we should wait until a few episodes are broadcast before we decide that.

Frankly, I think the Ward role was filled by May before Ward ever left. They had two dedicated ass-kickers. It was the non-fighting stuff that made them both unique in the group.

Whatever role they end up in, I suspect all the SHIELD agents (and Lance) will have Badass as part of it.

It's only natural the beginning of this season will focus a bit more on Lance than Trip: They have to introduce Lance's character, while Trip has already been established. He gets the lion's share of the promotional and presumably screentime because they need to show the audience who Lance Hunter is.

[up] While I partially agree, Trip hasn't had much focus. Understandable, given when he came in, but he needs some time in the spotlight too.

I haven't seen anything about Lance Hunter nor do I actually know who he is. He's appearing in Agents of Shield?

He's the Doctor. He could be anywhere in time and space.

as someone perpetually interested by side characters/side settings/side plots, I would really like to see if there will be any mention of " oh yeah all our soon to be agents at the academy and our biochemists and inventors and stuff got gunned down/ possibly captured" aka: please give me follow up about what happened at the academy. give me a young adult who was in the academy, who hid in a closet, is recruited by Coulson, has nightmares every night, and finally breaks down screaming " why didn't you come for us?" and I mean it's not Coulson's fault he was a lil busy but still. I want it. screw it, that's not going to happen. in ~completely unrelated news~ I have some fanfiction to write.

it was an example. I'd settle for literally any mention of " at least a hundred young adults/ college age students, most with only minimal training, were killed or taken prisoner by HYDRA" even if it's just that sentence and Coulson going " we won't let that be in vain"

any mention, at all.

probably? I mean, rebuilding shield. I think hydra will play a role in the season, as an enemy—maybe not the main one, but in a few episode certainly. because hydra's out there, and they really won't just go away, not forever.

Brett Dalton loves that HYDRA shirt. Just one reason he's a better HYDRA agent that Ward ever was smile
