Since we have a topic where we list our Pet Peeve Tropes, I felt it would be good to have a topic where we list the tropes we love. What are your favorites?

Might as well give a few of mine:

Affectionate Parody: You can really feel the love the creators have for the things they are poking fun of, and that is always much better than something from someone who despises it.

Award-Bait Song: These always give me lots of emotions, and tug on my heartstrings. Plus a lot are Ear Worms, so that's a plus.

Bullet Time: Just love the effects placed into these scenes. If implemented in a game for instance, it makes the combat all the more visceral.

Cloning Blues: Cloning in fiction have always fascinated me, especially due to my religious beliefs. Considering that I feel everyone deserves happiness, clones add a whole new layer of ethics to my belief.

Cyberpunk: My favorite flavor of sci-fi. From the technology, to the themes, the character types, music, and stories, this has always grabbed my interest as a sci-fi fan.

Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory: What all can I say? I love to over-analyze stuff. Plus, it can give an even greater appreciation to those works.

Genre Deconstruction: One of my all-time favorites. It is always fun to pick apart and examine works of fiction, and doing that to a genre has lead to some of the best works ever such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Watchmen, Scanners, and Metal Gear Solid 2.

Grey-and-Gray Morality: I believe that no-one is 100% irredeemable, and that every side deserves to be heard. This trope is just that.

Heroic Sacrifice: I always love to see someone give up themselves for the sake of their loved ones, as it really shows the extent of their feelings for them.

Messianic Archetype: Being religious myself, I love to see the whole theme of Jesus retold in many different ways. He isn't one of, if not, the most influential being in history for a reason after all.

Playing The Player: Related to the whole Genre Deconstruction, I find these twists to be some of the most disturbing and thought-provoking in video games, and can really help us to look at ourselves more.

Reconstruction: As fun as it is to take apart our favorite works, it is just as fun to put them back together, and can also lead to some of the most triumphant works of fiction, such as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, The Incredibles, and Kid Icarus Uprising

Viewers Are Geniuses: I like to be challenged mentally, and I much prefer works that don't treat me like a ten year old. After all, us readers are definitely smarter than your average fifth grader.

Here. But it's ancient. We have favourite character archetype, which is (was) more active.

Complicated - because simple is simply too simple.
