Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987The way they showed the spider is an example of Medium Blending, right?
Yes.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I've seen some of these shorts on You Tube. I guess they're alright, but I don't like the art style much. I prefer the House of Mouse shorts.
Enjoy living in the past while Disney continues to reinvent themselves.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987That was really harsh. I like the new toons as well, but I sure don't think they should be the way Mickey looks for the next half a century or so.
As for the stories themselves, eh, give them the older art style, and most of them could easily have passed as House of Mouse cartoons, so it's not like they're really hoing anywhere ground breaking there. Cool and funny, SURE THING! but hardly a reinvention of the cartoon wheel.

Here's a new one. Another awesome world short which is written in the language of the region.
If the fellow Mickey gives the ride to is supposed to be Ganesha, that's an interesting bit of Genius Bonus: as far as I know, one of Ganesha's main roles is to place and remove obstacles into/from people's goals.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. These are very adorable and fun. Mickey isn't a boring everyman with the personality of white bread!
They must take more influence from the earlier Mickey shorts

Supports cartoons being cartoony!Mickey works in any part of the world because he can be easily applied to anyone!
You're right, but man was most of his shorts after Fantasia boring.
I was joking a bit with the whole personality thing though...he did have shorts where he wasn't just an everyman.
Supports cartoons being cartoony!Floyd Gottfreidson (artist of the Mickey Mouse comic strip) said he always felt Mickey should be presented as a "mouse against the world" rather than a general "everyman."
Surprised no one brought this up, but there's another one: it aired during Disney's Halloween marathon this weekend, and it might be one of my favorites so far.
Sometimes this series really reminds me of The Twisted Tales Of Felix The Cat, which makes sense I suppose: they're both call backs to the same era.

Nice Danish, Mrs. Taylor.
(Er, that was Danish, right?)

Yes, Russi Taylor knows Dutch.
Oh, the language of the Danish is named Dutch? Shoot. My apologies to any and all of the Danish tropers on the website.
Say, I know this and the other Mickey shorts that are exclusively foreign languaged are made so that you don't have to know the language to enjoy them, but has anyone ever translated them just for the heck of it or for the sake of finding the Bilingual Bonus?

"Space Walkies" actually made me laugh at Toilet Humor a little (when Pluto urinated on the satellite and the ice crystals floated away), and I loved it when the former planet showed up. Leave it to Disney to make you feel sorry for a heavenly body.
"Mickey Monkey" was pretty funny but I thought all of the characters especially Minnie (and possibly Mickey if the ending wasn't intentional) were carrying Idiot Balls.
"Clogged" I enjoyed, not much else to say about it, but I will point out that Danish and Dutch are different languages and correspond to different nations. The toon was in Dutch (Netherlands), not Danish (Denmark). A fairly common mix-up though.

Disney Channel Latin America already had premiered Mickey Monkey like half a month ago, actually.

Best part of "Space Walkies" is the space toilet. I have a brother-in-law who's a bit uptight around what he perceives as "kiddie" stuff, but that particular gag cracks him up every time he thinks about it.
"Goofy's First Love"
Oh hi, Scrooge McDuck.

That short's Twist Ending worked on me in a roundabout way. I figured there'd be some One Dialogue, Two Conversations misunderstandings going on, but I was expecting that to be an early joke, so when they moved on from there, I assumed that they were building up to something else.
It's weird seeing humans in this show, even if they're only on TV.
The ending was priceless!
