As much as I like the female chorus going on in the background in "Nice For What", its ubiquity makes the entire song feel like a single, endless verse. That music video also feels like an exercise in wasteful spending, with all the big name people, ridiculous locales and all that. This especially now that music videos are not as lucrative business they once were.
I haven't really followed Eminem's career since, what, "Love the Way You Lie", but "Nowhere Fast" surprised me positively. I was half expecting a weird, cross-genre Smiths cover.

I appreciate the message, but Em really needs to up his beat selection game. I also don't like the switch from Protest Song to Boastful Rap and back near the end. Do one or the other; doing both just cheapens the message.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. To be honest, I didn't listen to the lyrics that closely. But yeah, that sounds a bit tasteless.
It's one of the problems I have with Revival; one minute you're hearing a song about how America is headed to ruin thanks to Trump, the next, it's a song about ass. Like, come on, Em.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Drake replaces himself at #1 while Cardi B, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin debuts in the Top 10.

Nice for What is a debut as well, right?
Much better song than God's Plan.
Should be noted that Drake is the first artist ever in history to have a #1 debut song replace another debut #1 song by the same artist.
2018 belongs to Drake folks
I knew "Nice For What" would be the new #1.
I won't agree that it's "much" better than God's Plan, though. At least God's Plan had a distinct verse and chorus.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.I dunno. I may be biased considering Nice For What samples one of my favorite R&B songs, Ex-Factor by Lauryn Hill, but it’s just so much more fun than God’s Plan to me. Between Drake having more energy when he’s rapping and Big Freeda’s interlude (THESE HEAUXX), I just find this song to be much more entertaining. But then again, I’m just glad something knocked God’s Plan off the number one spot.
I’m just surprised Nicki Minaj didn’t release her songs yet. They are actually pretty good as well.

I just feel like Drake doesn't bring much to the song. There's a chorus/verse, than a verse/chorus, then a long interlude where it's just Drake's vocals being chopped up and then the chorus/verse again. It's less a Drake song and more [producer] ft. Drake.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Well, to be fair, one of the best things about Drake tends to be his production on his songs.

Dang, Nicki's singles are really lacking the staying power, huh?
I am happy for Drake. Although, I do want to know what artist is going to dethrone him from the number one spot. Still, there's no one relatively on Drake's level that's releasing anything anytime soon. At least not that I know of.
Also, "Rockstar?" Seriously?
edited 7th May '18 2:41:25 PM by deuteragonist
The last artist to dethrone Drake from the #1 spot was Drake.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Honestly, at this point I'd prefer if it was Nickelback's "Rockstar" re-entering the Top 10.
Nicki’s videos drop soon, though (if they haven’t already).
Peace is the only battle worth waging.
Here's your new Drake single.
Whoever can discern the chorus from the verse gets a prize.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.
