I'm really glad "Look What You Made Me Do" was dethroned so quickly. Not that it had much going for it besides the name recognition.

I'm not a fan of "Bodak Yellow", but it's neat she managed to top the charts as the first solo female rapper in almost 20 years.

"Rockstar" I just find incredibly repetitive. It's almost as if some "Epic Sax Guy" like looping meme had made it to the charts.

On the positive side, I'm glad to see Portugal. The Man make an entry to Top 10.

Jesus Christ, Lil Pump in the top 40. I thought I'd never see the day. I know the mixtape dropped, but still.

Oh, and I guess there's a new number one. Whoo. Like I said, it's a grower, and it's nice to see this make the top spot.

Damn, LWYMMD dropped hard.

LE0Night Since: Jul, 2011

She's gearing up for her next single so all support for LWYMMD has been dropped now, pretty much. We know this because the teaser for her new video appeared today and it is apparently a) anime themed (yes, really), and b) even more preposterous than the first one.

I'm glad the track is fading fast. "Track", because calling it a song would give it too much merit.

And I honestly can't be shocked by anything Taylor Swift has planned for her next single. She's reached the Gaga threshold where she's tried to outdo herself in the shock department so many times that there's literally no way to go forward with it, and it just comes across as trying too hard.

[up]*sighs* I actually liked and miss Gaga's shock value though. At least the weirdness was interesting and infectious.

Gaga also had good music to go with her weirdness. The songs Taylor Swift is dropping have been really bad.

Also, there always felt like there was a method to Gaga's madness. Taylor's just seems like it's meant to raise eyebrows with no further intent.

#3790: Oct 25th 2017 at 11:55:30 PM

I do not deny that. But there was a definite point when Gaga's shocking antics just stopped being shocking, regardless any artistic methods that were used.

And in Swift's case, she has tried to truly shock her audience, what, two or three times, and it already feels stale. Gaga managed to more or less keep that going for years.

Even though I'm not particularly a fan of the song, it still kind of bugs me that the radio edit of "Sorry Not Sorry" changes "bad bitch" to "bad chick": I guess because the uncensored lyric is supposed to be playing off a well-known expression, but I've never heard anyone say "payback is a chick". Also, the very first time I heard it I was hearing "payback is a bad check".

Am I the only one who thinks "Thunder" sort of sounds like "Paper Planes" (or "Straight To Hell" I guess)?

"Thunder" reminds me of the latter half of Kanye West's "Famous" more than anything else. The pitch-shifted voice repeating "thunder" reminds me of the Sister Nancy sample used in the West song.

But yes, I'd say the tempo and beat have similarities with "Paper Planes". Especially the percussion in the chorus, which seems similarly to be just someone slamming their hands on a table in the recording booth.

On another note, I do quite like "Thunder". I haven't been big on Imagine Dragons since their first album (and let's be honest, I wasn't fond of "Demons" either), but after "Believer" and "Sucker For Pain" this seems like fresh breath of air. Maybe because the song sounds more like an electronic number than nu metal revival.
