It's odd how they have the video posted before the article. Usually they both come out around the same time.

Songs outside of the top 10:

12. Alessia Cara — "Scars to Your Beautiful"
14. Zayn and Taylor Swift — "I Don't Wanna Live Forever"
18. Big Sean — "Bounce Back"

I know I'm probably going to end up jinxing it, but I'm surprised by the competition for the top spot so far this year. I wonder if Ed Sheeran will finally go to #1, though it seems likely that he or "Bad and Boujee" will be staying for quite a while later on.

Just a heads-up: This week's Hot 100 Top 10 will be revealed a day later than usual due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Also, brace yourselves for the two new Ed Sheeran songs to possibly debut in the Top 10, one of which may just become his first #1 hit this week. It's worth noting that if this happens (which it most likely will), this will be the first time two songs from a single artist debut in the Top 10 in the same week.

Billboard has been delaying the chart an awful lot lately.

Dang, I'm feeling kind of bad for Bruno Mars right now. 24k Magic just didn't quite make it to the top 3. Guess it was too much of a throwback[lol].

Eh, Bruno Mars couldn't quite make lightning strike another time and put out another "Uptown Funk"-sized hit with a throwback style, but on its own "24K Magic" is doing just fine. So it's hard for me to really say.

24K is too much of a rehash, not to mention it's just too much going on for one song.

I haven't listened to "Shape of You", but I heard "Castle on the Hill" and I was not impressed.

I've listened to both, and while I can say that I can easily see why "Shape of You" is the higher-charting hit, it's kind of generic "Your Body Is Hot" type of song. It has only the minimum amount of Sheeran's personality in it. I'm in no way a fan of Sheeran, mind you, but I think even bad character is better than no character.

"Castle on the Hill" is much more indie-oriented, and thus pleases my ear more. Sure, it kind of sounds like a very calculated halfway between "Use Somebody" and "Story of My Life", but something about its bettersweet tone just speaks to me more than "Shape Of You."

My dad says "Castle on the Hill" is one of his favorite songs of the last five years.

In other news, Lukas Graham refuses to go away.

Castle on the Hill reminds me a ton of Thinking out Loud, and Shape of You sounds like an intermediary point between Sing and Sia's The Greatest. They're both decent in my opinion, but I prefer Shape of You, if only for its tempo.

Another Lukas Graham song where the music is inoffensive enough but the obnoxious and self-absorbed lyrics make it unlistenable.

Why won't Halsey stop

She's a talentless indie hack who's just one of the many Lana Del Rey impersonators with even less sincerity, creativity, and likeability

Twenty One Pilots, Flo Rida & Fat Joe have released new singles.

[down] I notice now that it was uploaded to YT a while ago, but it wasn't released as a single until last month.

Anyway

that Fat Joe music video takes forever to get to the song

I'll be honest, the last song I remember hearing Fat Joe on was "What's Luv?" and I don't remember his voice sounding so midrange.

oh my god this music video is so insufferable, that Remy Ma scene is so cringe. Her verse isn't that bad, though one line I thought was clever but I misheard it and it turned out to be infinitely more boringnote  but there was a different line I kinda liked note , and her flow is decent, but her lines are just...eh, I've heard it all before, and it doesn't even fit in with the rest of the song. Same for Fat Joe's verses, it's just meh, typical "I like strippers" song and nothing more. The beat's kinda nice at least.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
