Honestly, depends on the type of Eldritch Abomination you see,I mean the cluster was one and they were absolutely terrified by it
The kind where people go insane at the very sight of it, possesses unfathomable power and is eons older than Gemkind.

[up]You kind of answered your own question about their reaction then, by saying it's the type to make them go insane on sight.

I know. But still, how would they react to such a creature other than insanity?

Really? I think they would be absolutely TERRIFIED by an Eldritch Abomination.

Why? They're a massive empire of immortal planet killing parasites who have the power to project military force across multiple galaxies and enough bodies to occupy them.

They've been shown to have the means to warp space and even travel through time.

But many abominations are powerful not on a galactic or even universal scale, but a MULTIversal scale.

You keep bringing this question up a lot. Are you writing a fic or something?

By definition, Eldritch Abominations are things you can't understand at all. What's mundane to you can seem bizarre from an outside perspective. Thus, it depends on the perspective of the viewpoint characters. That's the basis of Humans Are Cthulhu.

the cluster was one and they were absolutely terrified by it
We know exactly what the Cluster is and Steven is able to communicate with it. Thus, it's not eldritch.

Yeah, we know where it comes from, what it wants, why it exists, and it's perfectly capable of understanding human thought once it's properly communicated with. That disqualifies pretty much any category that would make it one.

It would be interesting to see what kind of powerful opposition caused the Gempire to have such an emphasis on military and warrior culture. If most species they encounter are like humans, they don't need quartz soldiers to steamroll them.

The lack of mixing between Gem and Human casts appears to be about to be shattered big time.

An Eldritch Abomination would terrify the Gempire as much as anyone else. Gems, behind the gimmicky quirks, are tremendously human, so what scares us would scare them. The problem is that we have about a century of experience imagining EA, so it takes a lot to even mildly impress or unsettle us, let alone terrify us. Lore doesn't drive you mad, it just makes you jaded. Cthulhu is a joke. The Cenobites are ridiculous. The God Hand... are legitimately worrying, but not that impressive once you get used to them. By contrast, Griffith, like Johan, isn't terrifying because he's ugly, but because he's a beautiful Complete Monster with a mind that we haven't figured out.

And then there's Aku. Aku's terror comes from how off and strange and ridiculous his mind is. We know that he's evil and cowardly, but it's anyone's guess what he'll do next, and he's extremely powerful.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Honestly, even without their quirks they still aren't even remotely human, they are inorganic, what could possibly scare something that's immortal and invincible to everything except physical force?

I suppose though they could have fear of being shattered in a similar humans fear dying

No, they're extremely human in terms of thought process. Most of what's different in terms of personality can be understood in the context of their culture. This is not xenofiction; the gems are written to be relatable.

Cthulhu (along with other EA) are really only jokes because media often portrays them as just ugly monsters - when that's really not it. Trying to comprehend a "properly" written eldritch horror would be like an ant trying to comprehend humans - human intelligence, human emotions, human society, and human motivation.

Is that really an official promo? Why are there big yellow subtitles in English?

It's more that Popcultural Osmosis makes everything less scary because uncertainty is a huge element of horror. I'm reminded of how Plague of Gripes said new Alien movies are almost inherently hopeless because everyone knows how the xenomorphs work by now.

By contrast, Griffith, like Johan, isn't terrifying because he's ugly, but because he's a beautiful Complete Monster with a mind that we haven't figured out.
Griffith is neither a mystery nor personally scary. Back when we regularly saw things from his POV, it was clear he just decided his ambitions (and spiteful envy) were more important than his (ultimately shallow) connections to other people. In the twenty years since then, he's become more mercurial, but also spoken, emoted, and moved so little, he barely even feels like a character anymore.
