Double Standard has the higher quality.
However, this image could fit either trope just as well. I suppose Aggressive Categorism is the more narrow trope, but I dunno which one would be harder to find a replacement for.
Moon◊Double Standard would be harder to replace, because it's locked for editing. :D
That's a non-issue; Willbyr (or any other mod) is capable of replacing an image on a locked page if a thread concludes that it should be done.
Moon◊Double Standard is much broader, so it should be easier to replace.
It fits Double Standard well, and Aggressive Categorism not. The laconic of Aggressive Categorism from YKTTW (I waded through the description and it wasn't clear to me): "A character establishing or upholding prejudice in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary". There isn't any evidence to the contrary here; the equation shown is wrong.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I agree; I vote we keep it on Double Standard.
Someone will have to translate the Example as a Thesis on Aggressive Categorism for me to make a judgment.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe idea behind Aggressive Categorism is the faulty generalisation 'This X is Y, therefore all X are Y' (and acting accordingly, including when such conclusions are obviously absurd), which is what the image depicts. The picture is as appropriate on that page as on Double Standard, and Double Standard would be easier to replace, so we should keep the image on Aggressive Categorism.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWe can keep the full image on Double Standard and only the "girls suck" one on Aggressive Categorism.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman...that would still count as a duplicate image, wouldn't it?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI would think so, yes.
Bump. Which page are we going to pull the image from?
Actually, I think both panels are still needed for Aggressive Categorism, as it establishes the categorism as specifically directed, and doesn't apply to other groups of about the same size (i.e. men).
And if we don't find any replacement, I'd prefer leaving it on both pages.
Check out my fanfiction! No - applying the generalisation unfairly to a group is Aggressive Categorism. Failing to apply the generalisation consistently to all such groups is a Double Standard.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI think it says the categorism is unfair, as Double Standard is a form of unfairness. But fair enough, if people have a different opinion.
Check out my fanfiction!Works better for Double Standard.
I must be cruel, but to be kind That bad may begin, and worse be left behindHow about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boys_are_stupid,_throw_rocks_at_them!_controversy for Aggressive Categorism? It's both aggressive and has aggressive categorism :3

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.works for me.
I don't think it's an improvement, but in the light of duplicated image, sure.
Check out my fanfiction!Another abandoned discussion? Wow, tropers never get anything done. :P

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableLots gets done by tropers, but whining at tropers never gets things done.
Check out my fanfiction!Sorry, should I have labelled that Tongue In Cheek Mode, or possibly Self Referential Bump?
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable
Double Standard and Aggressive Categorism both use the same xkcd strip, arranged differently.
