actually some of the Funimation's first generation of voice-actors already retired and quit in the middle of their DBZ roles back in the day like Dale D. Kelly(Narrator and Ginyu.),Mark Britten(Burter,Korin and Ox King) and Ceyli Delgadillo(Dende and Kid Goku for DB Movies 2 and 3).
Most of their voices were redubbed for the DVD re-releases to keep consistency with the V As that took over the roles either in the later episodes or in the Budokai games,so the only way to hear their voices is either getting the initial DVD releases or the original TV broadcasts.

Stuff announced at Otakon — Black Lagoon getting a collector's edition, Assassination Classroom season 2 picked up early, the Ghost in the Shell: Arise movie and the film series Project: Itoh were picked up, and rescues of Noein (which is getting a Blu-Ray release) and — of all things — Speed Racer (which will be bilingual and also getting a BR release)!

Speed Racer tho
I KNOW! Haven't had that much of a mic drop moment at a con since Viz rescued Sailor Moon.
Now all that's left is to wait for Sentai to grab Mazinger Z.
Oh, you mean that super robot show Discotek already licensed?

...what I meant was... Urusei Yatsura?
Tatsunoko recovered the full control rights to Speed Racer from Speed Racer Enterprises and this is its first fruition, huh?Much better than another season of that Next Generation crap... Hell, that could mean a full release of Speed Racer X,right?I mean,I barely remember the short-lived dub and I heard it bombed in Japan, but I was always curious about how the whole series was like.
hopefully, other Japanese companies grow some balls and do the same thing to Harmony Gold and recover Macross from their zombified hands...

...... wasn't Speed Racer rereleased on home video already in 2008, for the franchises' 40th anniversary?
Something kinda happened between now and then... Ironically, a couple years ago Sentai Filmworks struck up a deal with Tatsunoko and got to release some of its titles, so many people thought they'd grab this. The Yatterman Night license suddenly makes more sense now.
Yikes. Along with the live-action film bombing miserably, and an embarrassing side-TV show to boot, it seems that whole anniversary roll-out was a disaster.

Which is a shame, because the live-action film was spectacular. The Wachowskis said they were making a live-action anime, and that's exactly what we got.
I loved it too! ;__;
John Goodman is always great.
This podcast states that Funimation has.... now been transitioning under a company called Group 1200. Their employees now can't be as connected to fans anymore. This is the first place I have heard of this news, hell it's the first place I heard of this oTHER COMPANY to begin with! I don't know how this affects Funimation, or why this transpired. It may have something to do with their deals with Universal/NBC.
Sooo, is that... bad?
Not sure. It could also have something do with the more varied acquisitions they just got.
Here's their site. .... interesting. The CEO is Funimation is now.... or is in addition to... the CEO of Group 1200.

You guys are very late with that news. I didn't bother to post it because in the long run, it doesn't seem like it's gonna change anything. Two years later...nope, nothing changed.

Well tell that to the hosts of that podcast I linked to, because they apparently thinks this is new news.
So, still no words as to streaming their content outside NA? I know they put their stuff on Viewster in the UK/Ireland but nothing so far for Latin America ._.
Actually, there was the live action Attack on Titan movies — as I said before, territories are North, Central, and South America.
The reason their stuff isn't streamed for English-speaking European countries and Australia is that they have separate licensors of their own like Kaze, Manga UK, Anime Limited (for the UK and Ireland), and Hanabee and Madman AU (in Australia). Some stuff that's been out of print in the US for years and has little chance of coming back sometimes get licensed for a release overseas, and those in the US miss out.
At least, I think that's how it usually goes. Hopefully there aren't too many holes in that paragraph besides Canada still mostly getting locked out of the loop.

Canada mostly gets screwed over by Viz since they still exclusively use Hulu. Everyone else is accessible in Canada since American licenses automatically include Canada. The occasional bizarre exception aside (the Black-Rock Shooter game ended up with a really weird list of countries it could be released in for some reason), but for all intents and purposes, Canada is lumped in with the States in the licensing game.
Not Three Laws compliant.
Funimation should publish an Art and History of Funimation book.
