The current picture for Tall, Dark, and Snarky is a textbook case of Just A Face And A Caption. It's just a picture of Snape from Harry Potter, it says nothing about the trope, and the caption does most of the work. Does anyone have any suggestions for a new image? I think it would be best to use one from a comic with a speech bubble of the character actually saying something snarky.

Here's the current image:

He looks tall, dark, and Alan Rickman just oozes sardonic charm, so it's not bad enough for an instant pull. If you have a suggestion, we'll consider it.

Also, you need to add in the link to the page as a wick, not just Copy+Paste the page title.

I think that the image is good.

For someone silent, he sure looks snarky. Or mean. I don't think it's a bad image, though I'm open for suggestions of the better kind.

I had this one on my to-do list for JAFAAC; thanks for making the thread.

He doesn't look snarky to me so much as irritable. They can go together sometimes, but...

Snarky means rudely sarcastic or disrespectful. It sounds like an attitude toward an adult, not from an adult. I don't think someone just frowning and folding his arms says snarky anyway.

I think the image sells 'snarky' just fine, but I would not mind seeing some suggestions.

The description, because I am not sure if we are going off the trope name where not appropriate:

A variation on the Insufferable Genius, this character is usually charismatic, incredibly good at what they do, and rather good-looking. Members of the same sex both admire and envy them, while those of the opposite fall all over them (often forming an Instant Fan Club), and the only thing that saves them from being a Mary/Marty Stu is their overwhelming arrogance and constant annoyance at being surrounded by people they see as idiots. They'll often make snarky comments on the current situation which show that they know much more about what's going on than anyone else, and answer any questions with the preface, "Are you so stupid you can't see it?"

That makes it sound like just a really snarky Marty Stu, or more of an Only Sane Man. Snape isn't really either.

^ IMO, book Snape is not but movie Snape is.

I think we can show the surrounded by idiots part with a character rolling his eyes. It would make as much sense to have a pic of Ebenezer Scrooge as Snape. They show 'bitter' better than 'snarky'.
