On TV Tropes, it's very common for editors to misuse appearance tropes, as well as tropes whose names make them sound like they could be appearance tropes.
Meaningful Appearance tropes are often misused in ways that overlook the "Meaningful" aspect, resulting in Zero Context Examples and misuse in the form of examples that have no meaning even if the tropes themselves are not People Sit on Chairs.
The Appearance Tropes Cleanup sandbox covers tropes with potential issues. Tropes that simply require cleanup will go through this thread, while tropes that require more significant action will have to go through the Trope Repair Shop.
April 2, 2023 update: This thread is no longer for making changes to tropes, and was brought back from the Projects Morgue solely for cleanup. Making changes to tropes is still a job for the Trope Repair Shop.

I've got a TLP called Animalistic Yellow Eyes, some ideas from that could be added.
Added an alt names crowner to ratify the rename.
Re Animalistic Yellow Eyes: I am wary of such a colour-based split especially since Yellow Eyes was cut some time ago.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI dont think a spelling variation of color codes eyes should be on the crowner but i understand it wiuld only have one option otherwise
Macron's notesYellow Eyes are used for animalistic characters, it is a very common trope especially in anime. [1].
The only exceptions that I have seen are a few blondes with turquoise eyes,
I created the TLP because not every example of yellow eyes signifying something animal-related is covered by existing tropes.
Anyway, it's another meaning of yellow eyes that could be added to the page.
Bumb for votes.
7 to minus 1 is pretty clear
And it's basically the same name anyways so I don't think we would have to wait that much longer
Macron's notesWhat's the status on the crowner? Has it been called yet?
Direct link to the crowner. Only 8-0 so far on the top option.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCan we call it? its 8:0:-1 with the 0 just being an alternate spelling of the 8.
Calling the crowner at 11-2 in favour of Color-Coded Eyes.
The overall plan is that Windows To The Soul ought to have its description replaced by Sandbox.Color Coded Eyes and be renamed to Color-Coded Eyes.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI've created Color-Coded Eyes per request.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo, while doing a wick sweep of Windows To The Soul, I find that a lot of them are about eye symbolism and not eye color symbolism. Move those to Windows of the Soul or something else?
Macron's notesI'd like to move all of the "Windows to the Soul" examples to a sandbox so we can decommission it. That would discourage anyone from continuing to use it.
Do we still have a moratorium on new appearance tropes? Because Bubbly Blonde just got launched.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Dark Skinned Blond is :just character with such a description exists", going by the examples and Playing With...
Laconic adds that such characteristics: "combine to mark someone as foreign and exotic, yet still somehow "Western""
Is that required?
Nevermind. Solved my problem. But still, Playing With and Laconic don't match... How to resolve?

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Windows To The Soul is down to 1 wick, the Laconic, which I added to the cutlist. We'll see how long this lasts.
I notice most of the examples in the sandbox haven't been crosswicked to Color-Coded Eyes, which has only 18 wicks.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Say, what were we going to do with Windows of the Soul again?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. It seems like the plan was basically to turn it into Color-Coded Eyes.
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576So it looks like the examples in the sandbox have already been moved to Color-Coded Eyes? That said, the page still needs crosswicking.
Examples from there that I think should be removed/changed:
- Manga.Black Cat: What Beautiful Eyes!
- Manga.Ouran High School Host Club: 1st 2 bullets are borderline, third seems valid but needs context
- Literature.Harry Potter: These all seem kinda weak to me- Harry & family are What Beautiful Eyes!, Hermione is hardly the only brown-eyed character so it doesn't seem significant, and I don't remember the others being mentioned more than once in the books.
- Franchise.Discworld: Seems kinda forced to me
- Series.Firefly: Brown eyes in a live-action work where most people have normal eye colors. Seems weak.
- Series.Sea Quest DSV: Elemental Eye Colors
- Series.Tin Man: see Firefly entry
- Series. The Young Ones- multiple characters with brown eyes doesn't seem like much of a contrast
- Series.Lost - see previous
- Webcomic.Homestuck: Eyes as a literal window to the soul allowing demonic possession/hypnosis. This is a trope, but I'm not sure which one.
- WebVideo.Epic Rap Battles Of History: See previous
- WesternAnimation. The Simpsons: 1st bullet feels shoehorned to me
That's what's being done to Windows to the Soul. I'm talking about Windows of the Soul.
Say, Meaningful Appearance was launched in January 2017, and I wanted to just make sure before I add this trope... Is Color Motif by definition indicative of meaningfulness behind the color?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I agree with you on those examples so I removed most of them. I'm not as sure about the Ouran High School Host Club and Harry Potter examples so I left them there.
I am fine with Color-Coded Eyes.
