Though he has this weird irrational dislike for mountains. I suppose you could talk to him about it, if you like. Perhaps he is willing to confide in you.

I once saw a feminist blog that said that because she was a feminist, she inherently distrusted men. I don't get that. She does realize that without some sort of man, the human race can't continue? Even if you don't have to be dating a man, the sperm has to come from somewhere.

wuggles: Eh, I think she was misplacing causes. A lot of females I know do have an inherent distrust of men, because of how many times they've been harrassed by guys they thought were their friends. This led to them wanting it to stop, thus, feminism.

Well, be necessary doesn't make one trustworthy.

Of course, it cuts both ways. The mere fact that we have not yet perfected the technology to allow reproducing without invloving a female does not mean that women are trustworthy.

The bulk of human history suggests that, on the whole, they are not.

[up][up] The bulk of human history suggests that women have been pretty heavily subjugated. They've been called evil and malicious and punished for just being women since the Mesopotamians after all.

But that's a digression. I think my opinion's already really been stated here, there's always going to be extremists that use a political stance to promote their insanity, feminism's no different.

Which has no bearing on what I said at all.

It kind of does, I should have made my point a bit more clearly, sorry Jones. Still feeling kinda tired :L

The problem with making statements like "the bulk of human history suggests women can't be trusted" is that the bulk of human history's been written from a male perspective. I'm not suggesting women are any more trustworthy than men, on the whole we both have the capacity to be awful or fantastic, but I think sweeping statements about all of human history are probably the wrong way to make the point.

And we all know that there weren't any male traitors in human history. None whatsoever!

Can't people stop caring about sex and gender? tongue Its annoying how these kinds of discussions will eventually become "But male/female gender has also done/been subjected to something good/bad" type of arguments that are inane.

Spooky, that's kind of... a silly thing to say. Sex and Gender are always going to be hot-topic issues, there's no way to avoid that. I can agree with the general sentiment though, it's not a competition over who's been subjugated more [lol]

Those are my words of anquish over the subject tongue And besides, the way gender equality thing works, you'd think they would be equal when people stop caring about them.

I just realised in a second draft for a post something that is fundamentally sexist: females are allowed with little hassle to dress up as a male, but the inverse is frowned upon.

You could argue this is sexist towards men: women can wear whatever, but we're forced into a predetermined clothing pattern. But if you think about it, it's actually a bit sexist towards women. A girl is allowed to dress up as a male because deep in our minds, they're becoming what we judge to be the dominant sex. They're changing to what we perceive as a better gender. But when a male does it, they're seen as getting weaker, becoming what people consider the inferior sex. No matter how open-minded you consider yourself, if you grew up with fairly conservative parents, you will most likely have some small trace of this notion in your head.

Excuse me if this makes no sense, I can barely get my words in order atm.

If people didn't care about sex and gender, there would be nothing to be worried about in the first place. Unfortunately, people do care.

[up][up] It does make sense, but that still doesn't really compare to the discrimination of men wearing women's clothes.

^^^Thats another annoying thing, you can explain everything as being fault of male gender or being sexist toward male gender tongue

^^Not really, there are still stuff like wars, violent nature of human beings, political stupididy, environment, survival, etc

I mean when it comes to sex/gender. -_- And in any case, I don't think things are really so simple that things would be mostly the same if a fundamental part of all existing cultures disappeared. We really have no way of knowing.
