Hippopotamus leg bones are much denser than the other bones in their body. This prevents them from rolling on their backs and drowning.

Elephant leg bones, by comparison to both the hippopotamus and the rhinoceros, are extremely skinny for their weight. This is resource-efficient, but prevents them from running, galloping, jumping, or taking any other gait that would involve placing all of their weight on a single leg at a time. (From a physiological standpoint, an elephant 'charging' is simply walking very, very fast.)

Whaling- that is, the act of hunting whales- is illegal in Ohio. This is despite the fact that Ohio is nearly landlocked, with the only major body of water touching it being the Lake Erie, which, as you may notice, is a fresh-water lake.

Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic in 1492 with three ships, the largest of which was the Santa Maria. The combined tonnage of all three ships, fully loaded, was less than the maximum takeoff weight of the Antonov-225.

Alfred Hitchcock had a lifelong fear of policemen after being sent to the local precinct by his father with a note. The sergeant locked him up upon reading it.

"Between Heaven and Hell", by Peter Kreeft. Kreeft is Catholic, so he has a bit of a bias, and I think I like some of his other books better, but all in all it was good nonetheless.

Terrence Malick had a walk-on role in his debut film, Badlands, due to the actor being a no-show. This is interesting due to his being a Reclusive Artist and never showing up anywhere nowadays.

Protein is so inefficiently processed by the human body that only about 30% of the calories from it are actually stored; the rest are used up in the process of digestion.

Christopher Tin's "Baba Yetu", the main theme to Civilization IV, was not only the first video game song to be nominated for a Grammy ('Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)') but also the first to win.

...this despite the fact that the music itself is rather pedestrian, the song relies entirely on the accompanying music video for context and emotional impact, and the lyrics are simply the Lord's Prayer in Swahili, unaltered in any way. Nobuo Uematsu, people; forget this poseur.
