Of course, in my headcanon,which can be seen in my fics, Dr. Time Turner "Whooves" Hooves is a time pony with a similar ponyality to the tenth Doctor, but is not THE Doctor.

Comic has broken 100,000 sales and is going into a second printing.

I'm not intimately familiar with comic book industry practices, but I want to say its probably fairly common for a new series to have a bunch of variant covers for the first issue. Also Issue #1 Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters, another series from IDW, holds the record of over 100 variant covers (a chunk of these were variations of a template featuring Godzilla crushing your favorite comic book store!).

Still, we're getting off easy with 19 covers.

Issue #2's variant cover from Dynamic Forces, featuring some seriously Giant Spiders. I assume that this is related to the issue's story, given that one of the same issue's basic covers◊ features spiders as well (also, it may be worth noting that Issue #1's variant cover from Dynamic Forces is actually art from a page of the comic).

EDIT: Colorist Heather Breckel has confirmed that this is indeed art from a page of the comic as well.

Surprised no one's posted in this thread about the synopsis for Issue #4 and the announcement of a micro-series!

Yes, they announced a second series before the first issue of the first series. Sounds like it will be like the Transformers Spotlight comics. There's apparently also a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles micro-series that focuses on specific characters as well.

I checked the list of upcoming releases on Diamond Comics' site. The first issue of FIM comics will be released next Wednesday, November 28.

Now I'm wondering how easy will it be to find issue #1 in a store. I say this because I remember looking for individual issues of the Elf Quest anthology comics in the late 90s, and occasionally having trouble finding the next one. The last series that I followed issue-by-issue was Bone, which ended about eight years ago.

well given how big it is, should be easy. And if you don't have a local shop there are online places you can order it from.

We now have numbers and descriptions of the other three of those four Friendship is Magic Issue #1 pages that were displayed at My Little Pony Project 2012 New York:

• Page◊ 4: "This page features our first look at two of the Mane Six ponies, and also features two of the Cutie Mark Crusaders! Applejack, Rarity, Apple Bloom, and Sweetie Belle all on one page (or ARE they?). The lovely Rarity is hard at work at her sewing table, and good 'ol Applejack is serving up apples (surprise!) for breakfast at Sweet Apple Acres."
• Page◊ 9: "You want all six Ponyville girls on one page? You got it! Dig Spike? He's there, too! Like Pinkie Pie goofiness? This is the stuff for you! Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Spike are all trapped in Golden Oaks Library! Leave it to Pinkie to weird-up any Mane Six gathering!"
• Page◊ 16: "It's not a party without Pinkie Pie's patented, perfect party cannon! The girls get down and dirty with Changeling flank-kicking action! Also, here's the Hastings exclusive cover of Friendship is Magic Issue #2.

Something to note about the micro-series, is that other the IDW micro-series put a different writer/artist on each issue, meaning that we should get six different takes on the characters, but also that the issues can vary in quality and style. Should be interesting, to say the least.

So, I found out something, This USA Today article (which has spoilers for an upcoming Season 3 episode) also has some more preview pages for the first issue. Nothing necessarily new other than seeing more ponies under the Mind-Control Eyes and a Continuity Nod to the wedding, but hey its there for those who can't wait.

Oh, and the Ghost Variant's been revealed as well. Its just Derpy, Lyra, and Bon Bon at Sugarcube Corner, with milkshakes & muffings. Slightly anti-climatic.

Things got really creepy there for a moment, especially with that changeling creeping up on Fluttershy like a zombie, but then it immediately snapped back to funny with the "TO THE LIBRARY!" panel. Also, RD apparently got wasted at the wedding reception from drinking too much sugar.

Can I also say that I love the faces in this comic? They're extremely expressive, but in a distinctly different way than the ones in the show.

They actually bothered to include one of the non-show ponies from the toyline: Sweetcream Scoops◊! We now have our second Canon Immigrant! I really hope that there'll be more; the show brought in Blossomforth and got my hopes up, but then just stopped after her

Also, Rainbow Dash was dancing with Soarin' at the reception. If a Season 3 episode reveals she had a kid in between seasons, we'll know why

Wow, RD's a real shithead in the comic.

I'm not really sure about it. The art is great but the writing feels kind of off. I guess it may be something I will need to get used to, maybe.

I'm getting mine from iBooks on my phone. I'm not sure what digital copies are available outside of that, though.

I have a tiny bit of speculation. We have the first 7 pages, and page 9's outline◊. I think I can guess what's going on there.

Twilight is wondering how they're gonna escape the Library, and Pinkie offers her solution - pretend to be brain hungry zombies. The plan ends up being Crazy Enough to Work.

Not a huge stretch of the imagination, but hey I thought I'd bring it up before the comic comes out.
