Actually, some people say American Dad, The Cleveland show have different styles from each other.
@Geek Code Red
Yeah real mature bro. Believe it or not, super-hero films (which may or not be based on comic arcs) aren't always a big bundle of joy nor be praised by critics and hailed as a master piece.
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenAmerican Dad? Sure, I'll bite. The Cleveland Show? Nope.
Personally hoping for The Avengers to get the Visual Effects Oscar, since that's the only one it's nominated for. I'd expect Oscar politics to keep The Hobbit away until the trilogy ends, and if Avengers doesn't get it I'd give it to Prometheus. If one of the other 2 gets it I may just flip my work desk.

Why? Any particular reason why a blockbuster has to win the Oscar?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatIt's probably more about it being a superhero/sci-fi film.
Looking for some stories?Oh, I see. But why would that be inherently more important to win the Oscar than say, Life of Pi or whatever it's called?

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThat's all? So they need to win the award, not because of advances in effects, but because they're movies that don't win awards all that much? Even though Life of Pi's effects garnered positive comparisons to Avatar?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatPrometheus was stunning. I'd support it for visual effects - for one thing, they had to invent everything they were showing, whereas Life Of Pi was working with things, like tigers, that actually exist in the real world, so it doesn't really require the same kind of creativity as Prometheus (or as Avatar). The Hobbit would also be a good choice for visual effects, though - Rivendell doesn't get less impressive with time, and Gollum was great. (And the visuals overall were spectacular. The Hobbit should have gotten the Cinematography award, but it didn't even get a nomination.) The main thing Avengers has going for it is motion-capture (their "highlights reel" for the Academy Awards features a lot of the Hulk), and Gollum is frankly leagues ahead of the Hulk in quality.
Also, with regard to "genre" films, the problem is that exceptional acting, writing, directing, etc. in "genre" film (be they superhero films, science fiction, fantasy, even comedy) is rarely recognized because the Academy has an automatic bias towards drama and doesn't see other categories as sufficiently "serious". So it's a double blow if the Academy decides to give the technical awards to dramas as well rather than recognizing "genre" films in categories that are their strengths.
(As a note - it's funny that there are actors from "genre" films this year that are nominated - but for their performances in other films. Notably Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway.)

Particularly Lawrence who is best known for her genre work.
I'm a skeptical squirrelHoping that Anna Karenina wins something. I've only watched the first twenty minutes of it, but damn, is it pretty.
Looking for some stories?Out of all of the Best Picture nominations, I've only seen 1 (Django) and only have a desire to see 1 other one (Silver Linings Playbook). Maybe Les Miz, but I've had Love It or Hate It reactions from my Facebook friends. Either it's the best movie ever, or it's pretty boring. I've never even heard of Amour. Also, I am kind of peeved that Jamie Foxx didn't get nominated for anything for Django, he did an excellent job. Also, this is the only year when I think it's truly a toss up as to who will win Best Picture, whereas last year it was pretty obvious that The Artist would win.

Whether you like Les Mis largely seems to correlate with whether you like musicals. If you do, you should like it; if you don't, you likely won't.
I'm only wishing death upon them because they're all old and it's only a few years away, and they're the people keeping the genre ghettos alive.

They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!Don't worry, a new generation of old people deadset on keeping the ghettos alive will pop up right after they die...
Yeah, I really don't think it's the age of the academy members keeping those ghettos alive.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Going through the Best Original Score nominees. Just finished listening to Anna Karenina, which was nice but nothing special. Have listened to about half of Life Of Pi, which is pretty good. Still need to finish it and listen to the other three.
Looking for some stories?lol Macfarlane is Hilarious

"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenLord only knows why he didn't become an an actor or comic in the first place. His place is not in the writer's room.
I'm a skeptical squirrelMaybe because he initially wanted to be an artist or animator. He went to the Rhode Island School of Design, anyway.
Heh, I chuckled.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. His acting ability really is very good. I showed the Hellboy movies to my brothers and my dad recently and they were absolutely shocked when they saw who Krauss was in the credits.
Not Three Laws compliant.I like Mac Farlane. I agree that Family Guy got shit later on, but I'm sure he had less and less control as time went on. The early episodes were good. And I really like the persona he gives off, very old-school.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.I enjoyed his presentation of the nominations (which I heard through Kermode and Mayo) and thought that it was a good sign for what we can expect. Apparently, the nomination announcements are meant to be one of the most boring parts of the process but they decided to change things up this year.
See, now I can judge presenting the Oscar ceremony on something actually related to that.

Regardless of its quality compared to TDK, I think that people are afraid to promote TDKR because of Aurora.
