And who says that people who evoke it don't "move past the fact it does"?
You'll have to move past the fact that some people dislike certain twists and happenings in movies so much that they pretend that they don't exist. Think of it as an AU!

See, this is the thing: It's not an AU. It's the series as it always was.
Ignoring what you don't like doesn't make it go away, even if we'd like to thing it does.
~realises this conversation is basically happening in two places at once~
YUUGI WANTS YOU FOR DRINKING BUDDY
Who says that they think it randomly goes away? They just like to pretend that certain happenings didn't exist because they dislike it. You're going to have to live with that.

Which is what I do... Y'see, I live with it by acknowledging it exists instead of ignoring it because it disagrees with my sensibilities. :3
But I am talking to Kay, and she's probably deliberately leading me on for jollies. I'm going to have to live with that too.
YUUGI WANTS YOU FOR DRINKING BUDDYSo, you think endless complaining about it is better than just completely ignoring it? Hm.
Again, who says that people don't acknowledge that it exists? I don't think you really understand most people who evoke Fanon Discontinuity.

With regards to what the trope is used for? No, since it's already been produced.
With regards to me complaining about it? I'm not complaining. Use the trope all you want. It exists for a reason, after all. I just think it's crap.
YUUGI WANTS YOU FOR DRINKING BUDDYThey left two holes open. Not one. They could leave two. Also, there was never a movie.
The series ended in October 2007.
Passive-aggressivness sure is lovely.
Well, I actually wasn't being passive-aggressive. I apologise if I came across that way though.
I'm just saying I think the trope is crap. But that doesn't mean other people can like it, have fun with and use it! I never meant to imply any sort of mean-spiritedness in my post and, again, I apologise if what I said was offensive in some way.
YUUGI WANTS YOU FOR DRINKING BUDDYChildren, children.
Bones never got pregnant. I'm sorry, I prefer when the series was "socially awkward bone person and retired Iraq soldier", not "dramadramadramababiesdrama"
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.I accept your apology as I am very kind, but don't let it happen again!
Hmph.
Appreciated.
YUUGI WANTS YOU FOR DRINKING BUDDYHm, I tend to dislike happy or laughing smileys after saying you think something is crap. But that's just me!
So that's what the issue was? Made it seem a bit... Over the top 'Lol, but u can use the shitty lame trope' sort of deal? Well, it's not what I meant. Was more a matter of me trying to show I was not being a dick about what we were talking about. ^^;
I'll keep that in mind when conversing with you in the future, Kay.
YUUGI WANTS YOU FOR DRINKING BUDDYHm, alrigthy then!
The Pokémon anime hasn't gotten more episodes since season 13, though it may return some day.
So far, it's the only time I've invoked this trope.
EDIT: Related to my avatar: Snowboard Kids never had a DS game.

"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Paris and Janeway never had salamander babies.
These Are The Voyages is either historical fiction, inaccurate, or from an alternate reality.

Fear is a superpower. The Mortal Kombat reboot.
They retconned the backstories of some characters, which were fine as they were. Only thing good is they did a good job portraying Johnny Cage well. But they screwed over the original canon, as a plot point. Killed off many of my favourites including Human Smoke (who appeared for the first time in ages), (apart from Johnny thank god) and decided to have Quan Chi involved in the original trilogy.
Also, not pleased that Shao Kahn won. I reckon it should have been Taven that won, considering that Konquest mode is somewhat canon.

"You'd never do something as irrational as dying."The ending of Clannad After Story. Everything after Ushio dies is Tomoya's Dying Dream. There is no happy ending.
I normally consider Fanon Discontinuity to be silly, but I have to make an exception for the Fallout 3 DLC: Mothership Zeta.
Aliens are not a real thing in Fallout, Bethesda. Those encounters were jokes of the non-canon variety.
I don't really like the rest of Fallout 3, either, but I can accept it as canon since it isn't too ridiculous.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I only invoke Fanon Discontinuity as a joke and to emphasis on how bad I think some of the stuff are.
I consider Mothership Zeta to be a very convincing dream. So convincing, in fact, that you forget that every unique item on the ship was found during your normal exploration.

So, in the U.S., randomly stripping is a signal that you want to sing the national anthem? - That HumanI never believed the ending of Bridge To Terabithia. It always rang false to my eyes.

If you want any of my avatars, just Pm me I'd truly appreciate any avatar of a reptile sleeping in a Nice Hat Read Elmer Kelton booksMax Payne 3 and Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 2 don't exist. They don't!
Hey, other people can invoke it and use it.
I just think it's bollocks. I recognise it exists and simply move past the fact it does.
