I think the image is an example and illustrative. There's an obvious Offscreen Crash and a wheel rolling away. That said, a page image should probably have more focus on the wheel, while still showing the crash, so basically an image with the wreckage in the background and a wheel in the fore, I guess.
Not sure about copyright - if this is a daily strip of Garfield, that would make this the entire strip, and so not usable. I'll try to find the original.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested for me if it isn't copyrighted.

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.The fact that it's two and one makes me think that it's three of four panels from a daily strip. And the trope is there. But I agree that the free wheel should be more obvious. I'd say keep it, until we find a better one.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Daily strips are always 3-panels AFAIK. Might be a Sunday strip though.
It's a Sunday strip (9-panel), so it's OK to use. [1]

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Previous thread. Voting Keep Until Better Image Suggested...actually, I'm perfectly fine with the current, so a suggestion's gonna have to wow me.
Current is good but not great. It's small (the wheel), and I'd prefer fewer panels, but it works well as it is.

Check out my fanfiction!I like both ideas, but the image seems kinda blurry/pixelated...
Moon◊Looks fine to me. Keep in mind that newspaper comics just tend to look like that.
If you can fix the quality issues, both of them are definite improvements.
Check out my fanfiction!Newspaper comics don't typically look like they were resized from a smaller source.
Don't get me wrong, I understand why the quality issues are there (AFAIK the small version's the best source we have at the moment)...

Moon◊I re-did them on my PC from the source image I linked to earlier, which is probably the best one available. Here are the two with original res: [1]◊ [2]◊. Kinda small, but best possible quality (note that the weirdly pixelated lines of the clapboards and the front step are like that in the original).
Unfortunately I couldn't find a better version, and I doubt that there is one around.

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.I honestly think the first two are better.
Much better.
Moon◊I like the first one in #13 better, solely because the text is easier to read, and not coincidentally shorter.

Check out my fanfiction! No (@8 and 13). Removing the crash makes it appear that a rollerskate wheel rolled from offscreen for no reason. They removed the lead-up, and thus the reason.
I suggest this one from Top Gear (@ 6:00). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhwoUxeTWsA

Seriously? Someone off-screen saying that they are going to skate and then "HONK!" / "CRASH" is not enough to indicate a roller skating accident?
please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Hilarious pair of videos (watch the first part too!) but I'm not sure getting a screen or two from it will be better than #13.1.

Check out my fanfiction!13 is the same, but worse version of the current image. Also, I don't want this trope's picture to be an Offscreen Crash.

Free Wheel is almost invariably preceded by an Offscreen Crash.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. The suggestions aren't demonstrably better than the current IMO, especially with the lesser image quality. The Top Gear video's amusing, but I don't really think we can get a good screencap from it.
[1]◊?
Although the car appears to be in pretty good nick, it's just the wheel that's come off. Then again, I'm not sure we want to use a picture of a real-life car wreck...

No Offscreen Crash. Already better.
The car doesn't look wrecked, though...
Here's some other options...not sure how well they fit but I figured I'd mention them:

This is not Free Wheel. It's one guy crashing into another guy. This YKTTW is a better place for it: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/discussion.php?id=q09d96ip0p21sumpol8hfc2f
