This manga have very surprising political allegories something that will made him survive even after his end for a unforesable future and will be analysed and re analised in future generations .

And to think many people were attracted to it by hopeless soldiers fighting against (and getting eaten by) seemingly alien and Lovecraftian Humanoid Abominations...

I mean, we've always had a heavy war and military-focused narrative, but the revolution and The Reveal about Marley have put things into a new perspective.

... And that's called jazz!

[up] Yeah, the last two arcs really sort of changed everything for the story. It stopped being about People vs Unstoppable Monsters, and became about people vs people with a focus on good ol' fashioned human cruelty.

It always comes down to Humans Are Bastards .

Honestly, I found the politics arc extremely well done as a result. Kenny ended up a rather excellent villain there.

It stopped being about People vs Unstoppable Monsters,

And that's when the quality nosedived, in my opinion.

It's still a decent story, but it's lost its awesomeness.

There is only so much you can do with that, though. Either the monsters win or the humans win, and the monsters stop feeling threatening over time.

And this hasn't been humans vs monsters since what, 2012? When Annie was revealed? Hell, it stopped being that (IMO) when Eren became a Titan. So like, chapter 10 or so. And it stopped for sure when Levi and Mikasa can carve Titans up like butter. After you see them in action, a Titan isn't scary anymore.

You can't have characters like Levi in a horror story. It doesn't work. When he shows up, it was no longer a horror story - which is fine, because I think Isayama recognizes that.

[up] Yeah, and even stories that focus on people vs monsters often include conflicts between humans. Isayama has said one of his inspirations is Muv Luv Alternative, and those series often veer from the humans fighting the BETA into humans fighting against one another. Primarily because even with man-eating alien armies trying to exterminate the human race, humans still end up screwing each other over for power.

And I agree, I think people like Levi and Mikasa lower the potential as the story as a horror involving just monsters. Which I think was one reason for him being side-lined with an injury for a while, since it raised the stakes without him around to help. And I personally like the explorations of these people that have essentially lived in peace for a century having to confront what a war does to people. Having to cope with killing other humans, or struggling with their morals, or how far they have to be willing to go in order to win. The Uprising arc in particular really forced them to deal with a lot of those issues, since it involved the ruthlessness of the veterans really being put on display and the 104th struggling with where to draw the line in the sand. I mean, we get our heroes torturing and killing people.

Hell, look at the meeting after they learn the truth. The top military brass absolutely want to do exactly what the rest of the world thought they would do. They are all about using the Wall Titans as a doomsday weapon, and Eren doesn't trust them to not hurt Historia if they think doing so will be useful. The people at the top in both countries are basically vicious bastards, that are using kids as cannon fodder. We've got Eren finally standing on the beach, looking out over the ocean......and wondering whether they will have to kill everyone to be free. Basically, both sides are sort of heading towards genocide or extinction if things continue as is. Eren seems to have finally grown enough to realize Kill 'em All isn't a good answer, but the question is whether the Paradis folks have been able to come up with a strategy that doesn't involve simply reducing Marley to a pile of ashes.

I think the idea is that Shifters can feel the coordinate but are able to resist it.

That's how I read it. Based on Ymir's recounting of what being Titan was like before regaining her human conscious, Coordinate only seems to work on regular Titans since they are effectively mindless.

[up] And using it on humans seems to require someone of royal blood, since Freida and the First King could both alter memories.

I wonder how the Coordinate's power differs from Zeke's ability to control mindless titans.

I didn't honestly think there was a difference, excluding the First King's control over whoever has the Founding Titan.

Coordinate power works on all Eldians. Zeke's power only works on Titans made from serum containing his spinal fluid.

How did he get Ragako though? I don't think a whole village would of easily accepted a serum from him.

That's a good question. Maybe he played "Grisha", and claimed to be a doctor bringing a treatment for a disease? That or he found some other method to sneak them the serum, like lacing food or drink?

That was one question I had ever since that was revealed. Seemed quite strange to me that the entirety of the village would of accepted some unknown serum from a stranger. You'd think atleast some of them would of rejected it.

You know, King Fritz's actions are pretty similar to President Madagascar's reaction to things , no? tongue

It's actually really fun with a wide variety of alternate modes to mess around in like zombies and Xenomorphs and apes.

I think Zeke just injected them when they were asleep. It seems those injected with his spinal fluid become mindless even before they transform so they don't resist afterwards.

There are multiple possibilities. I prefer the "lacing food and/or contaminating the water supply" because it may take a lot of serum, but feels less convoluted.

Would that work? I got the impression there serum evaporated quickly or otherwise didn't last long if not stored properly and is meant to be injected. That's what I always took to be the reasoning of why Reiss' King Titan (as I and a friend called it) was so deepened l deformed.
