I tried to find something better, but all I could come up with was this◊. There are variants without caption as well.

Check out my fanfiction! The current image was actually the chosen outcome of a previous image picking thread: one created well after the whole JAFAAC issue was already ungoing repair for a long time.
Suggestions are never frowned upon though.
Also: Your link from Zerochan doesn't work.

The current is fine, I don't care for either of the suggestions much, and (to paraphrase a couple people in the previous thread) we don't want to get into long, pointless, and subjective debates about what image contains the most moe.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Drag it into the address bar. If you still get the hotlinking protection, Shift+F5.

Moon◊That doesn't work either; you have to take the periods out from around the dash in the URL. The suggestions are good for Image Links, but I think the current is great...and I'm rather proud of that caption.
EDIT: Killed the hottip in the caption since that was added on after the IP thread.

I'm actually fine with the current and think it's the best so far. That said, I really want to throw Honey in here: [1]◊
please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.He's listed as an example on both pages (and also on Token Mini-Moe), though I personally see him as more moe than keet. That's why I suggested him.
The image I linked is particularly moe, I think.

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Wow. That's reaaally really good. =) Consensus seems to be "leave as it is". Yet I do think that kid illustrates the trope a lot better than the current image.
In a quest to erase natter from the face of earth.I don't get moe from the Honey pic at all...way too manic-looking, even with the cute elements. Mikuru and the K-On girls do a much better job, and I still lean toward keeping Mikuru.
There's that too...moe isn't a trait that I think would be normally associated with males.
also: Interesting...I had to take the periods out to get it to work. No telling.

I thought "Moe" was a predominantly female thing?
x6: worked for me.

Moon◊"Male characters can also have moe traits, and they figure prominently in Shoujo and Josei. Like their female counterparts, moe boys are usually ridiculously cute."
I'm also not really seeing "manic" in the image, but here are some more Honey images then: [1]◊ [2]◊ [3]◊
OK I'm done now, sorry about the pimping.
please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Mikuru doesn't works unless you already know that character. I get it now... After watching Haruhi. But I didn't get it the first time I read the article.
In a quest to erase natter from the face of earth.Sadly, the same can be said of Honey-Sempai from Ouran. If they don't know who it is, they can come around and make this thread again claiming it is also JAFAAC.
I do like #1 although maybe it's more deliberately cute child..
I actually don't know who the boy is, yet I think he conveys the concept of "moe" way better than the current one does (only speaking of the images, of course).
In a quest to erase natter from the face of earth. As much as I like Ouran, I think Mikuru or maybe the K-On girls would do a better job of illustrating moe - they are pretty much textbook examples. That said, I'll try to find an image of Mikuru that illustrates the trope even better tonight.
Hmm. When you put it that way, then I guess that makes sense. Best to try to look for an image that just conveys how much sympathetic cuteness they provide, regardless of who they are.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Mikuru isn't a great example of the trope, she is, of course. What I'm saying is that the image is not very good at representing what moe means. =)
In a quest to erase natter from the face of earth.Does Moe mean having your mouth open?
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.not sure about any of those, though the scene from the first one looks like it could provide some more moe.
This is my last attempt at pimping, I promise: Yutaka from Lucky Star (whose mouth is also open).

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Have some more Mikuru (also with mouth closed...)
I can also look at K-On tomorrow if anybody sees the need. Hidamari Sketch could be another source, although I don't think we will get a good picture out of it.
Anyway, is also good.

Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
I read the Moe article both before and after watching Haruhi and belive me, the expression on Mikuru's face is not enough to illustrate the trope. Mikuru's character is Moe in her behavior, her appearance doesn't really says much.
In my opinion we need a child character to visually illustrate what moe means, since childs are better at "instill[ing] in the audience an irrational desire to adore them, hug them, protect them, comfort them, etc.". Older characters become moe depending on their behavior, and that's really hard to demonstrate on an image.
Either that, or an extract from a manga, (which I don't read a lot, so I would need a little bit of help finding one).
Here is a suggestion:
[1]◊
This one fits the trope, BUT it does have white borders, and the title of the work (in japanese):
[2]◊ (to clarify, this isn't a suggestion, it's rather to show the idea).
