For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

I'd heard stories of people getting in trouble for filming on train tracks or taking photos on train tracks, so it sounds like it already is.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones! That fad is basically them saying, "I'm gonna set myself on fire, but only ironically lol."
Gonna set us up in our CyTube alternate room tonight, for Bi.
So in case any of you don't read this first and go to our normal room and wonder, "What the hell is going on?" ...that would be why.
Alright, following a brief moment with Mark Prindle, and another episode of the 80's video arcade gameshow 'Starcade', happening right this very moment (as the timestamp on this post indicates), we'll be taking a trip on the Galaxy Express 999, beginning at ~7:30 PM (US/EDT).
Don't be late!
Find us in our alternate room, here: http://cytu.be/r/TroperCoven#

That's our normal room. Did you copy/paste the wrong room?
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!Apparently so. Don't know how that happened.

Sorry to be a nuisance. I've tried finding a way to get No Script to leave ST alone, but the logging in and out workaround I've found for CT seems to be the only way around it.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerHave you tried a non-Firefox browser at all to see if there's any difference? I noticed in a message from the CyTube admin that he wrote the NoScript update was specifically for Firefox.
For those who are curious here is the Roger Corman dub of Galaxy Express 999.
There's a lot to explain about tonight's movie...
LTD, Leadership Through Drama, is a small organization committed to giving kids (ages 12 & up) "the opportunity to develop leadership skills through the performing arts" by teaching them the rudimentary ins and outs of filmmaking and stage production and the value of teamwork while also building self-confidence in front of a camera or public audience.
Kids who enroll the intermediate class take on a group project to make their own 30+ minute movie written, cast, filmed, and edited all by themselves.
Pretty neat program, in principal, but its resources are so limited, kids are required to provide their own camera for filming, and they don't have any sound equipment (relying on the built-in mics on their own cameras, which have a lot of shortcomings and does nothing to help teach these kids about the role of a sound department in filmmaking).
And that's where we get to Bradley's Summmer. A product of one such LTD intermediate class, made in 2006, Bradley's Summer was uploaded to LTD's YouTube channel as a "serialized full length movie" (web series) for all to appreciate the hard work of this group of kids.
Their plot synopsis reads as follows:
All the better that this was uploaded to YouTube by LTD itself. Who would ever check out the DVD sold through their website for $15 if they hadn't already given anybody the option to check it out for free?
Anyway, this is what we're finishing the Summer with...

I'd like to announce my return with a suggestion for a movie. This one is a combination of WWII archival footage, WWII-era movies and (of course) Beatles covers. Without further ado, All This and World War II.
Ah, I've found that my barebones built-into-Windows copy of IE can connect to ST without any problems. Problem solved (although I hope NS or ST fix it soon...).
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerHmmm, you don't have Firefox or nothing else? As long as our usual room is working for you...
That looks pretty cool. Reminds me a lot of The Atomic Cafe, which does much of the same thing with Cold War newsreel footage fixated around the nuclear bomb (and which I also now realize is available to us).
A sample clip...
Ah, yes, but that's a genuinely good film.
Tons of Cold War footage, including a bit on how people in stressful times are easily duped that I can't find elsewhere, and some good music (Slim Gaillard's "Atomic Cocktail" and the bizarre "I'm No Communist" are probably the best things in this).
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Being "genuinely good" hasn't stopped us from watching things in the past. The Atomic Cafe is still, perhaps, the most chilling movie I've ever seen.

Okay, at the top of the coming hour, as the timestamp on this post indicates, we're capping off Summer Break with Bradley's Summer and the wild story of his eight weeks befriending other kids with "a talent for getting into trouble with the police due to their over active imaginations", who form a "detective club" and unravel "a terrorist plot to blow up a bunch of important political figures at a private party". High-octane action and important life-changing experiences follow.
On second thought, perhaps that sounds more interesting than it actually is. But what do you expect from a "serialized full length film" made by kids?
At least, new there's Retsupurae, old Bad Influence, and other stupid stuff to hold us over in the meantime...
You know where we at! http://synchtube.6irc.net/r/TroperCoven
That's odd...when I log into the chatroom using IE, the textbox doesn't function properly....
OK, one last try; I'm going to close everything but ST and disable No Script.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerHowdy from Frostburg! I think I have the internet working so far, but I'll talk to the Help Desk people tomorrow... since it's Labor Day and class doesn't start for me until 5:00 PM.
But so far, so good.
War is God.Glad to hear you're settling nicely, Prom. Hope to see you back with us again soon.

As FingerPuppet pointed out, Bradley's Summer is an interesting example of how kids' lack of inhibitions makes for a movie that many adults wouldn't have the balls to make.
The plot has its randomness, like the convenient way the kids discovered the terrorist ("OMG! My screen name is just like his accomplice's screenname, except one digit off!"), and weird ideas, like the invisibility potion and the drunken maid. It also has a villain who holds a knife and a gun to a kid's head, which many movies aimed at adults are afraid to do. And there was also that - ahem - joke involving what happens when Bradley stops being invisible, that no adult would dare to make.
Anyway, it was cheesy as hell, but I'm glad to see the score distribution. Several people voting ★★★ and slightly more voting ★, with only one voting ★★. I can definitely see why some people complained about being bored, but at the same time, I was laughing too much at the randomness and poor logic of the plot, the bad acting, and everyone's jokes to be even the slightest bit bored. Honestly, the experience itself was actually a ★★★★, but I felt weird voting that high, and it wouldn't have changed the final vote anyway.
And I'm glad a few other people started making Iowa jokes too. I thought my "because it's made in Iowa" running joke would get old, but a few other people picked up on it.

I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!Much like Johnny Mnemonic, I've been hoping this one would eventually come our way, and now we've got it!
Tonight, David Carradine must save New York City from the Giant Claw's cousin in Q: The Winged Serpent.
I also started a page for Bradley's Summer if anyone wants to add tropes.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!I wasn't that surprised that Bradley's Summer was kind of divisive. The experience kinda reminded me of Beezbo's Adventures. It seems like no-budget movies that star kids who obviously have never had acting lessons in their lives are a bit polarizing around here.
I was torn between 2 and 3 but ultimately went with the latter. I think it would have been a bit more enjoyable if they shortened it a bit. For example, the kidnapping part kind of came out of nowhere when the bomb plot the rest of the movie revolved around had been resolved. So it kind of made me feel a bit tired of the movie by the time it was over. I think that's why I liked Beezbo; at least it's concise in its ineptitude. Either way, I got a new avatar out of the experience.
I also really hope I can make it to see Q tonight because I haven't seen it, but have heard nothing but "good" things about it. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Okay, at the top of the coming hour, as the timestamp on this post indicates, it's David Carradine vs. The Giant Claw in the classic Q: The Winged Serpent.
But first up, there's new Retsupurae, old Mark Prindle, Adam West taking a lesser known turn as a TV detective, and some other stupid stuff.
You know where we at! http://synchtube.6irc.net/r/TroperCoven
...Yeah, I think that's probably already illegal.
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, baby
