Make it so that at the stroke of midnight a meteor will hit the Earth, and only they can stop it by shooting a laser into the air at the top of the Empire State Building.

Every rock/metal band on the planet gets together to play one ultimate song. The last note — played at the stroke of midnight — not only features a thousand electric guitars wailing at once, but also fires irresponsibly large fireworks into the sky with enough force to make the night look like daytime.
My Wattpad — A haven for delightful degeneracyI like the sounds of the fireworks. :) Hopefully we'll have better luck than Francis, Reese, and Malcolm. ;)

I like to keep my audience riveted.Well, if it's 2100, why not indulge in futuristic forms of modified champagne? The beverages could come in all sorts of colors and flavors, and allow all sorts of strange effects through the power of SCIENCE. I'd drink a drink that would automatically make my voice resemble Christopher Walken's, if it were a festive occasion.
"And every life is a special story of its own." —The Stargazer, Mass Effect 3Hmm, multicolored champagne? Now there's an idea. Thank you. :) Now I just need to figure out which flavor is synonymous with which color.

I like to keep my audience riveted.If you're still taking suggestions for celebratory effects, then perhaps worldwide artificial aurorae, created by firing off massive streams of charged particles in the upper atmosphere. It might start with a bright flash of blue-green at the stroke of midnight, and then settle into a sky-spanning light display, perhaps even synchronised to the music of the parties below.

Hey Brother Mycroft, I have some ideas as to your multicolored champagne suggestion. I hope you like the sound of what I came up with. :)
Red = Cherry
Pink = Strawberry (I know strawberries are red too, but strawberry-flavored stuff sometimes turns pink)
Orange = Exactly What It Says on the Tin
Yellow = either Lemon, Pineapple, Mango, or Peach. It was a hard choice. ^_^;;
Green = Kiwi
Blue = Blueberry
Indigo = ???
Violet = Plum

I like to keep my audience riveted.Just to screw things up, make the colours absolutely unrelated to the flavour to subvert Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
Yellow could be strawberry, Violet could be orange etc.
"I'll try that orange champagne. WTF, it tastes like Kiwi! Wild! This is some freaky party, huh?"
Even go as far as having different random flavours applied to different colours so, depending on what bottle it came from it could be nearly any flavour (except the most "logical" flavour).
"Odd, I've been drinking green champagne all night and so far I've had peach, banana, orange and strawberry..."

Now there's an idea. Thank you. :)
I like to keep my audience riveted.Here's another one I thought of. I was thinking of some cool ice sculptures besides the usual swan. Then I thought "Wait a minute, this party's going to be epic; who says they have to be made of ice? :)" Going with that, I came up with things like dragons made of ruby, diamond gryphons, platinum unicorns, and sapphire mermaids.
Oh yeah, before I forget, the Stone Cutters have a zoo now as well. :)
I like to keep my audience riveted.I had another sublime thought recently. What could we have to countdown to the New Year? I need something cooler than the old-fashioned disco ball sliding down a pole. I appreciate the feedback. :)
I like to keep my audience riveted.I thought to bump this thread because I have good news, everyone. Today I finished my short story, for now. :)
I like to keep my audience riveted.
The short story I'm currently working in is about the New Year's celebration for the year 2100. I'm trying to think of ways to make it the most epic New Year's ever. I admit, though, I'm a little stuck about that. ^_^;; What are some ways to make it a memorable party? I'd very much appreciate any tips and feedback, thank you. :)
Besides/in addition to the cool outfits and masks my characters will be wearing. :) :P
