Well, the characters are really unique but it doesn't look like the plot is going to break much new ground.
I like how the ancient sword bequeathed by the gods actually looks like an ancient sword bequeathed by the gods though. It is on a proper level of pimpage.
I'm just waiting for the gods in question to be abominations that are responsible for the invasion. Then again, I've probably been playing too much Persona.
I guess we could go... wherever we please.Nah, evil gods/gods who are secretly abominations are a pretty par for course video game plot.

i. hear. a. sound.Ain't La Pucelle like the only japanese game where God Is Good? Which is funny because it's also like the one where they erased all the crosses in localization.
So hype for this game XD
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Nah, the God-figure being even arguably evil was sort of started (or at least popularized) by SMT as far as the Japanese scene is concerned. I mean, you played that figure in the Actraiser series. 'Generally benevolent but apathetic or aloof' is the more traditional, Western-derived portrayal used in earlier games.
ONE WEEK FROM TUESDAY. I AM EXCITE.
:D
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Someone on Game FAQS posted an older review of the Japanese version of the game. It's pretty glowing and answers a lot of questions many might still have about how the game plays.
A bit late, but Zelenal, Atlus games become pretty darn rare and often expensive shortly after launch. To put it in perspective, I missed out on Radiant Historia during its February release, and in June (when I had money) I couldn't find it at any store anywhere. On Amazon I recall seeing it for well over $50, and I only obtained it by sheer luck at a store way out of the way that had a single new copy in stock. However, if a game does well enough/demand is popular enough Atlus may reprint some copies, and, using the same example, Radiant Historia is far more common and reasonably priced in the present.
Anyway, now that I'm done ranting, I've decided to buy it from Amazon since I doubt my local Gamestop gives away preorder bonuses. I can hardly wait.
I have the game near the top of my Game Q on GameFly. I can buy Radiant Historia from them so I should be cool.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I like Zozo do to my like of Necromacers in general. Because as she stated despite her look she is not a zombie.
I like Tsukikage although I'll have to play the game myself before I can figure out who my main will be. Probably a Fragile Speedster.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I'm probably going to just play as Solange first and get a feel for all eight characters before making a decision. I'm a sucker for slow, but powerful characters.
And nice, I wasn't expecting an official unboxing:
By the looks of things, it has a nice thick manual. Oh Atlus, thou spoil us too much. And just when I thought I couldn't get more excited for this game.

My one question is, is there anything like a single-player "Arcade Mode"? Or is multiplayer the only option when I just want to punch bad guys independently of the story?
And on another, shallower note...is it possible to change a character's colors like in a fighting game?
Stupid questions, I know, but I've been curious.
Yes, there are tons of bonus quests in the game. You can play them, as well as the story quests, as many times as you want. So have at it and smite thy enemies into oblivion.
As for your second question, I'm pretty sure I saw a gameplay video with a palette swapped Solange somewhere, so there most likely is.

Well I just pre-ordered the game. I hope I like it. How hard is it anticipated to be?
Difficulty seems to vary from what I've seen. Missions are ranked 1-5 stars, and doing any decent amount of damage is built around using the "lock-on" and "burst" features. Lock-on does exactly what it says, locking onto a single enemy to do double the amount of damage. Burst burns through MP to send out a brief burst of power that hits all nearby enemies and also doubles your damage output. Both can stack, and victory in the later quests hinges on using them at the right times. I've seen a gameplay video of an entire team getting utterly destroyed by a dragon during a co-op quest.
On a separate note, I find it interesting that in a lot of articles Kinu Nishimura is often credited in both character and world design. I like to think that the game developers let her go wild on world building and this is the crazy looking art direction up she came up with.
I just got home with my copy and hnnnngh, I love it! I've never played a beat 'em up with plane shifting, so it's taking some getting used to. The characters are all quirky and charming so far and the script is very funny.
Solange seems to play a lot faster than she did in the Japanese version, and the framerate only drops when you'd expect it to. (3D on, lots of elements on screen.)
My local store won't be getting their copies until tomorrow. Ah well, it'd have been placed on the back-burner in favour of Pokémon anyway.

Gamestop, eh? I also don't see why they choose horrible release dates for the game. In Japan, it came out the same week as Fire Emblem Awakening, and in America it comes out the same week as Pokemon Black 2 And White 2. It's like they want it to fail. Just got my copy. Initially, I was surprisingly unimpressed, but five minutes later it got far better. This game is awesome.
And...does anyone know why the YMMV page is locked?

If you think about it a certain way, they may be hoping that people impulse buy it after seeing it on the shelf when they already walked into the store for a game for that same system.
And you have to admit, that cover WILL draw people's attention. There being a (almost) naked girl on the cover is not only what made me check this game out, it's also what made me check out Spice And Wolf.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Looks cool.
Doesn't she get cold??
