It's okay, I'm immune to it.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. How long has it been since she got all those donations, anyways?
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Loooong time. She better be cookin' up somethin' good.
It began in June and her original due date was... August?
Yes, exactly- slay a dragon but still be afraid of something tiny. Although this trope is likely there for comedic purposes.
I mean those pirates were hardcore, they weren't even scared of giant-ass eels in the depths of the ocean, they kept skeletal piranhas as pets, and yet all of them ran shrieking terror in the face of bees. Not one thought to attack.
xD It did seem ridiculous. It happens with tough guys too on occasion. An example I can think of is DBZ with Goku being afraid of needles.
to be fair, have you ever tried attacking bees?
its like punching birds.
Remember that Spirit Tracks-era Link also runs screaming from bees.
...Also "big tough guy scared of something small" is far from a female-only trope. It's just used to show that even the most tough and fearless person has something that they're afraid of, and that's an important lesson, really.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! Not to stir shit (of course that is what will happen) but when guys see things like this◊ You can see where some of the anger comes from.
Hell I know I got pretty angry at it.
It has this sense of "Women have it rough, AND ITS ALL YOUR FAULT MEN." to it.

So? It's a fact of life that a great deal of Westerners live off the benefits of slavery, oppression, sweat shops, ect. ect. It might not be their fault, but they're morally culpable in the exploitation — like the torture of the child at the heart of Utopia or whatever.
I think it's worth acknowledging that gender oppression is such a widespread influence that you can't remove yourself from it. I believe that you can't be a by-stander, and that you can only be passive. If you're angry about being seen as a target of someone's anger, don't fight back and create more anger. Prove it displaced.
Thorn, you seem to advocate the concepts of activism. Can you relate?
And the idea of subverting gender stereotypes in advertising is really heartwarming and a strange cause for anger. Like the bit in Wreck It Ralph where (minor spoiler!) the cute little girl was revealed to be a massive not!Halo fan, and the two boys were fighting over the pink and fluffy game. IIRC
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.I just think belittling the other side is a poor way to go about it.
More flies with sugar etc etc
I don't get that impression at all. Nor do I see anything to be upset over.
In fact, THIS article pretty much confirms everything I've been saying in this thread.

Its hard to get anything from that article without knowing what said scene involved.
Why does that matter? Isn't the fact that the writing team agreed that it should be left out enough?
Because we're only going by their word.
And Bioware's word has little worth to me lately.
It's a strong article. I don't think it's of benefit to delineate between genders quite as rigorously as the article delineates them, but then again it's a response to an industry which is reactionary, conservative, nostalgia prone, ect. ect.
In general I think it's unwise to see arguments over egalitarianism as cases of us against them. Kinda defeats the purpose of equality, doesn't it?
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Actually, that's a fair point.
I still don't see anything which I feel blamed for or should be angry over.
That men would add rape to games without knowing its rape.
I would have to reserve judgement until I knew what the quest was myself.
Sometimes people just don't get it. Not to derail, but Far Cry 3 and racism, for a recent case. Or Arkham Asylum and classism.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Uh, yeah. Happens all the time, actually.
Women can do the same thing, if there is no one around to point it out. Case in point: Devin Grayson's run on Nightwing.
In fact, we have several tropes about it.
- "Not If They Enjoyed It" Rationalization
- Questionable Consent
- Accidental Pornomancer
- Double Standard: Rape, Male on Male
- Double Standard Rape: Female on Male
- Double Standard: Rape, Female on Female
- Memetic Molester
- Unfortunate Implications.
- Wife Husbandry

So there was no proof that only females would have caught the supposed rape scene.
I don't think so, no.
