This is the same image that's on Signature Scene. I think it works better over there than over here. Any ideas for a replacement?

Rhymes with "Protracted."

But it would be much easier to find a better image for Signature Scene.

Looking through the examples, I'd say White Heat would probably fit the best, as it's really a villain climbing, it's not justified like so many of the others, so it illustrates Ebert's concept well, especially since Cody simply gets shot from the ground. Plus the whole "Top of the world!" thing is pretty well-known. I couldn't find a screenshot, but I'll look more.

ETA: ok so I watched the ending scene and there are no cappable moments unfortunately.

^^ Not as classic I don't think.

^ The Shower Scene from Psycho and Riding the Bomb in Dr Strange Love are close to how classic the King Kong scene is, I think.

[up] They'd probably work better for "Psycho" Shower Murder Parody and Riding the Bomb, respectively.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Yeah but the movie itself isn't as old. Also KK doesn't fit the other very well, not really a "villain".

That is certainly true, but most of the other examples listed don't fit either. A good portion is protagonists climbing, in many of the cases the climbing's justified (e.g. the top of the tower isn't really the end, the villain has a good excuse for thinking climbing was a good idea etc), and some of them just aren't very dramatic. I only scanned the list but couldn't find a single example that would work really well.

Well, for Signature Scene we also have:

Fantasia: [1], [2].

Romeo And Juliet: Several images from this page.

Hamlet: [3], [4], [5].

I'd say these are as classic as King Kong climbing.

^ I think the Yorick scene would work well for Signature Scene.

Something that came to mind for Signature Scene, from The Matrix: the "bullet dodge" sequence (1, 2) or Neo stopping the bullets: [1].

[up] I'm getting a 404 when I click on the first bullet dodge link but I do like the second bullet dodge.

[up] This is the screen I'm getting when I click on the first bullet dodge link.... Oops, it's one number off from a 404, it was actually a 403.

How irritating...it did the same thing to me a couple of times and then it let me go to the picture. I decided to upload it.

This is not perfect, but what about it for Climbing Climax, and leave Kong on SS?

We need to make a move on this. Thoughts?

R&J balcony scene would be nice, though I haven't seen an image I particularly like yet. The uploaded Matrix image is good — it's about all I remember from watching that movie aged 9!

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

Matrix image is not so good for Climbing Climax, the bullet-dodge one in particular doesn't have enough (literal) background to establish that it takes place on a building roof.

It's being suggested for Signature Scene as far as I can tell — at least, that's what I support it for. Ditto with Romeo&Juliet.

The BatB suggestion is for Climbing Climax (Kong on SS). Removed the one Willbyr mentioned.

Yes, the Matrix suggestions are for Signature Scene; Kong is perfect for Climbing Climax.
