I made They Might Be Giants two pans of (pot-free) brownies in an attempt to at least get some signatures and a picture with 'em...only to have their manager lie to me about making sure they'd get them, and the Johns get some quick autographs on my Converse (which was my signature object of choice), and to find that they hadn't received them. They were too hurried to stop to take pictures with anyone, though.

Still, signatures ain't bad.

Not major celebrities, no, but I met Liv Jagrell of Sister Sin after their set at Mayhemfest '15. I also met Mac Faulkner of theChive outside a bar in Austin at 1:30am, lol.

He's not really famous anymore, but I met Greg Oden shortly after he got drafted by the Trail Blazers. I was at a burger restaurant with my dad after getting a blood transfusion, and I got an autograph from him. I remember him seeming a little nervous/surprised by the attention, but looking back on it he would've only been about 19/20 years old, and speaking as a 21 year old myself now that would've definitely had me nervous.

Bill Clinton, Agent Carter, Rick from TWD, to name a few.

The last two were at conventions, I met Bill at my high school. He was helping a senator's election and wanted to show up at our high school for a speech.

I didn't recognize who he was until he waved to me in the hallway and we both said "Hello."

Levon Helm from the Band, he was playing with Levon Helm and the Barn Burners in 2000 my mom was friends with his manager so we got to meet him for a full hour before everyone else did. He played at a local bar and both my sister and I were under age they let us in because we're with our parents. Levon gave me the drumsticks he used that night.

I also meet Nelson Briles he was a MLB Pitcher. He was my grandparents next door neighbor and my mom used to babysit his children.

I met Kevin Stevens in 1992, we heard different Pittsburgh Penguins players would be making appearances at various locations in the area; I think we heard it on TV or the radio. He went to a local Davis' Supermarket which doesn't exist anymore. We got his autograph.

I used to write for a country music blog, so I had a few encounters. I worked the blog's table at CMA Music Fest in 2010, and we didn't get a lot of big names at our table, but I still enjoyed seeing people like Bryan White, Trent Tomlinson, Doug Stone, Colt Ford, and Brady Seals. I also got to interview Razzy Bailey, and more recently, I interviewed the duo LoCash as well.

I also go to a lot of local country concerts, and although I usually get the cheap seats, I have gotten to meet a few artists in person after them, including David Nail and Aaron Tippin.

A local community college puts on random shows now and then. Throughout the years, I've gotten to meet some interesting people there, including Trout Fishing in America, Steve Smith (who plays the title character on The Red Green Show), and Boots Randolph among others.

Also, while I haven't met him in person, I've been Facebook friends with both Cleveland cult figure Toby Radloff (Killer Nerd) and the son of Eddie Floyd (the R&B singer who sang "Knock on Wood") for about a decade.

I met Rob Jennings once, who might qualify as a local celebrity, of sorts. (He's the weekend anchorman for Channel 6 Action News on WPVI, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia.) He doesn't look the same in real-life. On-camera, he wears a hairpiece and lots of makeup to disguise his aging appearance.

Harry Hamlin (of LA Law and Clash of the Titans (1981) fame) spoke at my high school graduation. But he's an alumnus.

I don't know if this counts as a celebrity or not but the most recent encounter I had was a chance meeting with the former Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire *when I was out shopping at my local Co-Op supermarket. He was doing the same [lol], but he was dressed up in his full uniform as the Queen's local representative. He must have been on his way back home from a public engagement of some kind or other. I think he was kind of glad I didn't think he was a security guard or bouncer - I clocked who he was almost immediately - because he'd recently been confused with one of those.

I work for the federal government (in the US) and one of the things my facility stores is bankruptcy files for New York bankruptcy courts. Anything filed after 2002 is stored electronically (with the hard copy coming to us), but if anyone wants to get into anything from before 2002, they have to call us to have copies made. Anyhow, Erik Estrada (who played Ponch on the CHIPS TV series back in the late 70's, called up once requesting his bankruptcy case. He seemed mildly disappointed that I didn't say something like "not the Erik Estrada?"

[up][up]I remember watching CHiPs when I was a kid. "Ponch" will always be pegged as a wannabe with capped teeth who never made it as big-time as he hoped to.
