Remember to CamelCase the article link.
As it is, I disagree with you. This is because it says "There are", not "These are". To me, this means it isn't saying only people in the Periphery Demographic are real fans, it's saying that some of the most dedicated fans are in the Periphery Demographic. However, the image doesn't really gain much from the text below it, so I'm not opposed to removing the captiony part. We could also change the text to add a "some of" in it, which should prevent any misinterpretation.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I think it's perfectly fine as it is.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I think it's fine as is.
I don't see a problem with the current picture/caption.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I'd be fine with cropping off the caption, it's really unnecessary.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!I agree. Relating to the first post, I see the Unfortunate Implications there now that you mention 'em, but I think few people would notice it, and even if they did, they probably wouldn't get the wrong idea.
Evil is my favorite color.Crop off the caption; the picture speaks for itself well enough.
Plus, "True Fan" carries a lot of negative connotations. Just check out this page on the Transformers Wiki.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I didn't associate with True Fan. Probably because the True Fan arguments are about a binary distinction, and not a gradual scale, which the caption implies.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. How about this?
I don't really like that; it's plain, kind of boring, and relies on text. The current — with or without built-in caption — is better as a page image.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Prefer the current to the graph.
Not to mention, "Veiwers".
Moon◊Bump. Consensus is pretty much to keep the current pic; now we just need to decide on whether to keep or cut the caption. I don't have a problem with it.
I'm with Trope Eater on the caption; now that it's been pointed out I can see how people might misinterpret it, but I don't think it happens often enough to be a real problem. The image itself is perfectly fine.
Reaction Image RepositoryI'd be fine with cropping out the caption. The picture works just as well without it.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdCrowner's hooked to decide what to do with the caption.

I agree that the picture isn't good enough. Since nobody has posted any, I found some nominees that would best fit this, and explained why they are examples of this:
- Adult in a Spongebob costume
- Man on the official website for the Pretty Cure franchise◊.
- Brony with his McDonald's My Little Pony toys◊

I agree that the picture is good enough. And the text.

Check out my fanfiction!^^ Those may be examples but they are not good images. You have to know what those things are and what their target demographic is.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Pre-weekend bump for votes.
It's been 5 days and the cut has been consistently in the lead, so I think it's safe to call this. The captionless version of the pic is up and tagged; locking up.
Crown Description:
What to do with the caption?
I think this reason is the closest one I can use. Let me explain.
To make myself clear, it's not the image itself that's the issue, it's the context. Let's take a look at the caption. "These are people who are not in the target audience yet are the truest fans." That's the key part. By itself, the caption is saying "You don't need to be the target audience in order to truly appreciate it."
And not read through the page. What does it have examples of? Okay, we get legitimate ones like "deeper than it looks", but then we get examples like "the yaoi fanbase". It's almost like it's saying "Oh, the people who like the show for its slash fanfic and Rule 34 potential? Those are the REAL fans."
I mean come on, can we really call those types of fans the "truest fans"?Those types are what some people call "shallow". I am making a statement. Yes, I know reasons can overlap, but if you put the two together, it just sends the wrong message.
The image itself is fine, it just needs the caption removed. Then I won't be having problems with implying the wrong message.
