Well, people running away from shitholes is not really a uncommon thing, is just that happens more easily now.
You know, Venezuela is a dictatoship, but for the normal people on the streets, is like if the goverment dont existed and they were in some bizarre land where random local polices and the fucking gangs are the closest to a organizated goverment that exist, to the extend that sometimes they basically are fused.
Of course, it makes sense, if you want stay on top, just let the chaos run on the lowest levels of the social hierarchy, they will be too busy trying to hold some type of civilization to actually start protesting.

Watch me destroying my countryI saw that article the other day.
I don't have the heart to read it.
And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!What the hell is parliamentary immunity?!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.It exists in differing styles in different countries. I guess it was set up so that whoever controlled the judiciary or the police couldn't intimidate lawmakers into legislating a certain way. But this is rife for abuse, and it's not like it protects them from normal blackmail or even just a crippling terror of the media like in the UK.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Mind you, it can be revoked and the (sad) reason behind that is mostly because the Judical branch is not an apolitical entity so any groups of judges from party X could freely prosecute an accusation to congressmen of party Y for an indefinite period of time before they have to drop the charges.
The situation with the President is starting to look grim, whether he is as guilty as he is accused or not, the matter is that taking him down would leave a vacuum of power that cannot be fixed and would surely be exploited by the Fujimorist party to try to play kingmaker and put the current President of Congress (who is also Fujimorist) as the new president.
Honestly, Pope Francis can't come here early enough to help heal the tension.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.We are on danger, the Fujimorists will surely take the country.

Watch me destroying my countrythst is happeing in Venezuela, a lot of chavistas judge are sugesting to revoke the inmunity.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Though in our case it's less "revoking" and more "disregarding".
And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!the judge out right said they should remove them because it was unfair to have it.
As subtle as always
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"In the UK it predates that, it was set up so that the King couldn’t so easily intimidate lawmakers if they said something he didn’t like on the floor of the House of Commins.

Basically, a congreswoman referenced a cartoon character and then she got angry because said character was from Chile (our "rival" nation).
All her rant was basically: The Chileans want steal us and PPK (our president) is a chilean spy AND a Odebretch (a corrupt enprise that had links with pretty much everyone, either legal or illegals) one! And when a peruvian try to defend them, he mentioned Condorito !, and Condorito is chilean! The Left are Traitors to the nation!-
Is ridiculous, but she actually can revoque our president with her vote.

Watch me destroying my countryOur congress ladies and gentleman, setting the bar lower with each passing year.
We are at 78 votes of the 87 required by the congress to sack the President, pray to God that they fail or else blood will be shed.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.And God was merciful.

PPK is safe, thanks YHVH.
Lets see, so, Paolo Guerrero will go to the World Cup, PPK is still president and the Fujimorists were defeated again.
I love Happy endings.

Watch me destroying my countryGod is merciful indeed. All praise the Lord of the Miracles.
This might not be over but we sure as hell won't see the situation escalating to this ever again.
And with this, Perú can have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I think this is closer to Earn Your Happy Ending, but I love it too nonetheless.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.Holy Molly, Yeni Vilcatona is becoming the new Fountain of Memes and Hate Sink of Peru. For one side, this is just giving force to the stereotype that all peruvians hates chileans because we are Sore Loser , the country ; but on the other side, Yeni totally deserve it.
Is hilarious, and sad.
Remember, liking Comicbook/Condorito is TRAITION TO THE NATION.
Watch me destroying my countryOut of all the things that Chile has done, she has to attack Condorito.
On other news, I'm dissapointed but not surprised to see that the entire Left voted for the vacancy, seriously, it's as if they wanted the bad publicity.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.Yeah, seeing our Left letting such a direct attack to our democracy happening because Muh Ideological Purity (nothing says Leftism like letting a group that literally bases itself arround a Right Wing dictator taking the power over a democratically elected president).

Watch me destroying my countryIt'd be like if the Stupid Fringe Left <cough> Green Party <cough> in the USA actually had significant political power here.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSigh. The Odebrecht scandal has tainted a number of people, and from what I can tell the accusations in this case are credible. I agree if someone wants to say that the Fuijmoristas are being hypocrites since Keiko apparently has her own corruption allegations but lumping everyone who agrees with Kuczynski (sp?) removal into a „loony left“ label is being economical with the truth.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think you have misunderstood something.
The Fujimorist are primarily a party of the right with populist tendencias and appeal to the Protestants for incluiding some preachers in their ranks.
The current left is formed by Frente Amplio (Wide Front), which is an amalgalm of various leftist movements under the leadership of Veronika Mendoza (yes, with k).
What happened is that the motion to oust the President was being done without regard of the needed process and was a thinly disguised Coup de etat to remove PPK and place a Fujimorist in power, essentially making the congress majority in the true power in the state since they would be able depose the head of the Executive branch and attack the Judical branch with impunity.
And a lot of people understood that this was not really about Odebretch, but about the Fujimorist being resentful of not being in power and grinding the country to the mud if it meant they got in power.
And the Left knew that what was in play yesterday was not just the head of PPK, but the office of President itself, along with the little political stability we still had after the spat with the Fujimorist.
All of them still voted to see PPK out of the office.
I'm not going to call them "loonies" - though a lot of people now can call them that -, but they have demonstrated that they are incapable of compromising their ideological position for the good of the country, and that can be righteously be held in contempt because that proves they are willing to put their ideas before the best interest of the country.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.How do you put your "ideas" 'before' anything if by doing so you cancel any possibility you had of executing them or having them see the light of day?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.A case of them being Principles Zealot?
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.Our country just love the Doomed Moral Victor trope.
Remember how Bernie supporters prefered dont vote anyone despite Trump being way worse than Hillary and knowing that their lack of vote will just help him?
That is basically what happened in the Peruvian congress.

Back in Hong Kong, so many people had relatives on the mainland during the Great Leap Forward's famine. Either the relatives escaped from the PRC, or they stayed and got food packages. A lot of lives were saved that way.
