LightNovel.Dragon Crisis was put up for review. I watched around seven episodes of the anime series, and while the 10 year old-looking dragon girl character being in love with the young teenage protagonist raised some initial red flags, the relationship remained perfectly chaste throughout. The dragon girl was not sexualized or the target of fanservice at all from what I saw, and the raciest thing that happened was an implied kiss on the lips between the two characters in the finale episode.

So at the very least it seems like the anime should get a pass. Since I haven't found a way to review the light novel though, I thought I'd ask the standard questions of those who may have played/read it... How many sexually explicit scenes are there in the LN, and do any of them involve the dragon girl or any other underage-appearing characters?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Yeah, having seen the anime, the anime itself is fine and the girl isn't greatly sexualized. She's also only a couple of years younger than the main character though it's enough of a physical difference to be noticeable. Still, the worst of it is a single chaste kiss, just lips brushing. She doesn't have any panty shots, and the one scene she's naked in, they only show arms and legs and the scene itself is Naked People Are Funny.

The one character who is sexualized is in her twenties and looks it, and it's mostly just cleavage.

I have not found the light novel to read, but it's work noting that the Japanese site for the Light Novel draws Rose as looking older than she does in the anime. She looks more 13-14 than 12 in those illustrations.

This series is really generic. I seriously doubt it changes much later on either (Unwanted Harem + Oblivious to Love).

I don't think anyone bothered to translate the Light Novel. Does that mean we have take the anime on its own?

I don't think there's a manga to worry about either, although it's also possible no one bothered to translate that either.

Meh.

If the light novel isn't available to be reviewed, I'd be fine with voting an angel for the series based on what I've seen of the anime. I just wanted to make sure that there were no glaring problems in the LN that anyone knew of.

I don't see Dragon Crisis listed on the site most of that stuff appears on. You'll have to go by the anime, I believe.

My sources tell me that the anime follows the light novels closely, and that the premise is essentially "Shakugan No Shana with guns". Also, ANN says the "objectionable content" is "Mild"... which is apparently very tame for ANN.

I will take a look. Thanks for the link, Marq. Beginning with ep. 4.

Update: Why is it always a goddamned beach episode? Just the usual Male Gaze over some of the older characters. Nothing else to report.

Update the second: Still nothing of interest to report.

Update the third: Now halfway through ep. 7. Aside from a blatant ass shot of a girl who looked about 16-17, nothing.

Update the fourth: Nothing to report. Noticing a pattern here? Onward to ep. 9.

Update the fifth: See above. Anyone got a beer?

Update the final: Done.

Verdict: Harmless

  • Not much fanservice, what there is is of the older girls
  • Only objectionable content is the (entirely chaste) relationship between the young girl and the male protagonist
  • Listed as having only "mild" objectionable content

Side note: Hearing the little girl call out for Ryuji kept giving me Toradora flashbacks (Same voice actress and everything). Why couldn't this thread be about that, so I would have an excuse to rewatch it?

Yep, the only even borderline thing in the show is one entirely chaste kiss between two characters only 2-3 years apart in age. It's entirely harmless.

Bumping to get the locked threads to the bottom. So far this one has two keep votes (including mine) on the tool.
