Donald Duck is no longer the title of the character's page; it's now a mere redirect that leads to Western Animation / Donald Duck (without spaces). I can understand why you would want to do this; the character's animated presence is globally famous. Yet I believe there's no need for this, and worse, it only opens a can of worms.

-As of now, both the Main page and the Western Animation one are one and the same; waste of icons.

-Plenty of tropes listed under Don's page do not come from animation; rather, they're derived from his many comic book appearances. He's also more known for those comics in other parts of the world, mainly Europe. Why, the image on Donald's page is a Carl Barks' painting based on one of his comics!

-Those are the tropes on the page itself, but out there, in "the wild" of TV Tropes, there are so many instances of Donald Duck being used to refer instances from the comic books that ScroogeMcDuckUniverse had to be renamed for this reason; this adds more weight to the idea that the character is far from defined by his animation roles only.

-If we are to leave Donald's page as a subdivision of "Western Animation", does that mean we have to remove every trope that's NOT related to his cartoons? Would we have to open yet another subdivision for Comic Books / Donald Duck ? Then would we have to rework the Main section so it only lists tropes that apply to all versions of the character? This seems too complicated and unnecessary a change to me.

Therefore, I suggest we simply remove the "Western Animation" aspect from Donald Duck's page, for the reasons listed here. (Maybe this is an easy thing to do, but I have no idea how to do it...)

Uh, well, we usually try to put works in the namespaces they first appeared in. Like how the animes are usually more popular than the light novels, but we put it in the Light Novel namespace anyway. Even in cases like this, where the comic books contributed most of the characterization.

I suppose we have a Disney namespace too. Should it go in there?

I'm kind of hoping for a crowner on this so I can vote for Donald Duck and have it actually count.

[up]I am pretty sure the Disney/ namespace is not for that.

I had brought up a Character/ namespace (or whatever would be equivalent if not that) but apparently nobody else bothered to discuss it further...

If that's the way it is going, it's understandable, but in that case havin' a whole different icon for "Western Animation" that does nothing but redirecting to the main page is pointless...This is a personal opinion but still having the comic-related tropes there would be weird as well. I dunno. I do think the practice could be spared in special cases such as this one.

What do you mean exactly, man?

I thought Donald originated in a comic?

I like the idea of a Character Namespace.

[up]Ah, now it gets complicated.

He was first mentioned in a comic. He first appeared in an animated cartoon.
