Yeah, probably too much potential for abuse there, but I do want inherently time powers, and what you suggested is more a speed power.

Are there any of the other aspects of the power that might work, or is all too OP? The time knowledge seems like it would be too awkward, and OP in terms of the future, but I'm mainly concerned with the other parts. Maybe just the not ageing and "Time heals all wounds" thing?

[up]Healing's fine, though you should limit it a bit; if someone's head gets chopped off, or some other major injury occurs, I don't think there should be a 'get out of fail free card' all the time, if you know what I mean. Other then that... I don't what else to think of aside from the speed-up, without being too overpowering. If this was an actual comicbook story, I might actually be interested in the idea, but this is an RP. But here's a possibility; your parents were each a Badass Normal, correct? So, they could have taught and trained you in various skills since childhood, thus effectively making you a Badass Normal instead, if it weren't for whatever powers you end up having. And you can still have the healing and 'not aging' thing. How does that sound?

The intention wit the healing is that the injuries still cause effect, so something that would normally be massively debilitating or fatal would still be, but if he survives it it will eventually heal (although very long time frames are needed for some things, and what would heal without powers would need more time than for most people, so that's fine.

Just the healing and not ageing as actual powers and the normal parts of a Badass Normal will work well. Can I just confirm whether you're fine with the summon/dispel costume thing?

@kkho: Thought as much. Meh, most of my villain ideas are very campy and silver age-y, so, um, maybe it's for the best, ahah. Anyways, here she is again...

  • Name: Lyna Lovejoy / Anima*
  • Side: Anti-Registration
  • Physical Appearance: A pale girl with short brown hair and similarly coloured eyes, standing at around 4'9" and with an average build for her age, albeit slightly thinner than the norm. She generally just wears either her school uniform or something casual, skirts and t-shirts, that kind of thing. When in costume as Anima, she disguises herself by wearing a long pink wig and red contact lenses, as well as padding to make her figure look more developed in a vain attempt to make her pass as an adult. Her outfit is rather haphazard and was quite clearly made on a limited budget, consisting of a frilly pink one-piece swimsuit, a similarly frilly white skirt that reaches just a few inches above her knees and a plain white croptop underneath the swimsuit. She also wears shiny golden opera gloves and red knee-length boots. Most importantly, she carries the mysterious Dream Rod, a foot long cylinder of some unknown silverish metal topped with a glowing green orb.
  • Personality: Shy and withdrawn to the point that she only really has one friend. In addition, she is very much a nerd, and an otaku, and has always been a big fan of supers. In costume as Anima, however, her personality flips right over and she becomes a loud, outspoken and incredibly hammy CHAMPION OF JUSTICE type.
  • Powers: Enhanced strength, speed, durability and flight. In addition, her Dream Rod can fire out a beam of light that pacifies those struck by it by inducing feelings of bliss and contentment. However, her power level is unreliable and prone to wildly fluctuating due to the fact that she draws her power from the ambient positive emotions of those in close proximity to her. As those around her's hearts fill with hope, love, understanding and happiness, she grows more and more powerful, but if their hearts are stained with despair, hatred, anger and sadness, her power plummets to a level only just slightly above the human average. Her powers only work as long as she's holding onto the Dream Rod. Her powers take up rather a lot of energy to use, however, and to make up for it she has to eat far more than a girl her size normally would. She also has a taste for... Strange (to put it lightly) combinations of food, although whether this is also a side-effect of her powers or not is unknown*.
  • Other Skills: A somewhat talented actress (she's the star of her high school's drama club); half of the reason no-one's realised that she's really Anima is due to her acting skills (the other half being that no-one would think that shy little Lyna would ever wear something so ridiculous). She is constantly accompanied by her best (and really, only) friend Romana, a girl who somehow holds the dubious honour of being even nerdier than Lyna. Romana is far more intelligent than her friend, even if she has even less common sense. On the plus side, thanks to being probably the biggest super fangirl in the city, Romana has a somewhat detailed database of just about every super, hero or villain, who operates in Megalopolis.
  • Background/Origin: Lyna was just your average, everyday nerdy highschool girl, not a care in the world, whose only real worries in life were her grades and whether the guy she liked even noticed her or not, until one day she had an... Odd dream. She doesn't remember much of it at all, but what she does remember is someone (she's not sure who, but the voice sounded calming and pleasant) telling her to do... Something. She can't remember exactly what. When she woke up, she found herself clutching onto the Dream Rod, which seemingly just spontaneously entered existence whilst she was sleeping. She soon found out that whilst she held onto it, she had superpowers! Realising that this was, quite frankly, really neat, she did the only thing she really could: throw together a flashy costume and fight evil! Of course, she's not been at it very long at all, and really only sticks to her neighbourhood, so she hasn't seen any real action besides randoms thugs and muggers, but she has heart, and in the end that's what counts, right? As it turns out, she's somewhat anti-registration. She believes that if heroes worked for the government, they would only be assigned tasks that benefited the government itself and not the everyday people, which is something she doesn't agree with in the slightest.

...Well, that's what was put down for the original iteration. Lyna's a bit more experienced in this version, having been a costumed crimefighter for at least a year now. Her sixteenth birthday has just recently passed, and she's growing a bit more confident in her role as a superhero. Not only that, but she's fought some actual supervillains and amassed her own small rogues gallery, even if some of them are rather... D-list, to say the least.
  • Miscellaneous Notes: Unbeknownst to Lyna, her mother was once the infamous jewel thief "The Green Manalishi" in her youth. She met Lyna's father, a journalist, during her rehabilitation and he eventually convinced her to give up her life of crime and settle down with him. Whilst Lyna still doesn't know about her mother's past exploits, her mother knows far more about Lyna's current exploits than she lets on, but is fine with her daughter doing the whole super-thing whilst she's still young.

Small note about her powers: technically, given the right circumstances she can become as powerful as Post-Crisis Superman, but in these turbulent and paranoid times she will likely never get to that level. She has a base level of power that she will always be able to tap into, though, bringing her to peak human physical capabilities, making her bulletproof and allowing her to float about a meter off the ground.

Gotta love that the technical two heaviest hitters in Megalopolis so far are both pro-registration aliens.

I also kind of feel like Strix and Chronus/John and Axel would either Get along pretty well or hate each other considering they're both grim, analytical, dark-costumed slightly empty/mentally off teenage Rich Idiot With No Day Job types who've been deeply affected by the deaths of their well-known wealthy philanthropist parents and are living in the same city.

Okay I finally got some time to put my character up again. However, after thinking it over I did make some changes because I wanted to make him a bit more useful.

  • Name: Lucas Valerio / Adamant
  • Side: unregistered
  • Physical Appearance: When in his "human form" he is 5' 10'' with a light tan and black hair along with some stubble on his face. However if you were to look into his eyes his pupils have grayish sheen and his iris has copper panels. Whenever he is working he wears a white collar shirt with jeans and brown glasses to hide his eyes, but in his free time he wears casual clothes like a grey t-shirt and sneakers. However, although his arms and face look like skin, parts of his chest still have metal plates on them. In his "machine state" he grows 5 inches and is armored.
  • Personality: He is a pretty down to earth guy, but is a bit of a loner whenever he meets new people since he's too lazy to get out much, most of the time he's in cyberspace hanging out with programs, but when he starts to get know you he opens up more. One reason why he doesnt get close too others is because he doesnt handle rejection well, since he gets easily depressed. Although he is a hero, he trys to only stops serious crimes because he thinks that its overkill for him to change just too stop a pickpocket or common theif although he will do what he can.
  • Powers: He was infected by a techno-organic virus which made his body into a living machine that is capable changing form and can create a variety of weapons and tools. When he was first transformed his appearance was that of a metal skeleton, but after eating a few cars his body reformed.
    • Increased Durability and strength: He can lift a medium sized car with some effort, but any more would put a strain on his system. He is able withstand gunfire and small explosions, but large armor piercing rounds will removes chunks of his body and tanks rounds can blow limbs off.
    • Energy weapons: He has four weapons preset in his body (plasma buster, energy blade, railgun, and line taser), but for him to create more would take days to works out the technical details. All these weapons do use up lots of his power, expect for his line taser, especially his railgun.
    • Healing: Whenever he is hurt he can reform his body by using metal from his body or consuming nearby metal objects. This does take some time from a few minutes to hours depending on the damage.
    • Electrical conductor: He can reroute energy from powerlines or use his energy to power up eletronics or stun people.
  • Other Skills:
    • Electronic compatibility: Because he his part machine, he his able to easily hack into other machine by "talking" to them and can travel through cyberspace whenever he is connected to the internet. Whenever he is in cyber space he leaves his body, making him vunerable and defenseless.
    • Common language: He can translate and speak any language because his mind interprets it as code so that he can understand it
    • Radar: He can sense other people or machines within a 20 foot radius of him. This also includes wifi capabilities
  • Background/Origin: Lucas was a basic 27 year old guy before he changed. He sat in a cubicle all day working in data processing and it was a safe but boring life. However his girlfriend at the time wanted more and left him without a word leaving only a note and some of his funiture. In his depression Lucas got drunk and while driving got a flat tire and drove off the road. He didn't crash but instead ran over some kind of capsule, which tore out the underside of the car, slowing him down. He was okay but shaken up a bit and he went over to check what he had hit. At first he thought it was a plane part but then he saw some kind silvery-gold fluid leaking out. When he got closer to it, the fluid grab him and bonded itself to his DNA. However due to the lack of metal in his "organic" body, he first instinct was to eat his car to gain a more stable form. For a while his body was that of a metal skeleton as he walked back (creating some urban myths along the way) as he searched around for scrap metal (like railings off of bridges and parked cars). When he finally regained control of himself the AI of the virus explained what had happened.
The virus (the AI inside of him is named Ibbie or Integrated. Biotechnical. Being. Initiated. for Efficiency) was originally created thousands of years ago as a way to create guardians to protect an alien species home world, but later on the war ended after a treaty and their world was peaceful yet again, but there was a problem. Because of the aliens pacifist nature, those that had been changed couldn't take the psychological toll of war and some went mad. Even worse was that the virus was capable of infecting others and so had to be quarantined and destroyed in the end. Few virus's had escaped, but in order to survive the long wait in space they went into hibernation and even then they wouldn't be able to survive without a host. Ibbie explained that the human species wasn't in much danger of that happening because war and fighting was in their nature and thus could cope with it better.
  • Miscellaneous Notes: Because of his electronics and body, large surges of electricity can weaken and paralyze him and an emp will knock him out altogether but something strange happens if that occurs. A powerful enough magnet can hold him back and mess with his thinking. Although he can eat metal, tungsten carbide gives him stomach pains, mercury tastes very bitter, lead is tasteless and gummy, and depleted uranium will make him very sick and gold tastes delicious.
It should also be noted that there is an AI inside his mind with a personality of its own that goes by the name of Ibbie. Since she resides within his mind, he is the only one that can hear and see her whenever she projects herself in his view.

well now that I look it over it seems that I might have made him a little too OP. Well I'll let you decide on that

[up]Not in terms of an RP. I want 4 people on each side so both sides of players aren't too unbalanced; not in terms of power-levels, but from a game-playing perspective. If there's 5-6 players on the Un-registered side, but only two on the Registered side, it feels really uneven.

Not exactly keen on making a pro-registration character, but it seems that's what's needed. Means I have to go back to the drawing board, since being anti-registration was a bit part of the story I was thinking up for my original idea. But yeah, the pro-regs need some more manpower

I'll just leave this here and fill it in later...

  • Name: "Devourer" Isaac Alivio
  • Side: Registered
  • Physical Appearance: Isaac is black-haired, brown-eyed, with brown skin like most Filipinos. He stands at 6' and weighs around 200 lbs. He is dressed in gray jeans and a red t-shirt, wearing a black hoodie jacket over that and walking in equally black tennis shoes.
  • Personality: Isaac is not the most put-together man. He is almost always angry over his family's death and the knowledge that there are more Complete Monsters than he can kill out there. If he's not killing people, he's burying himself in his hobbies of science and the arts. He holds heroes in high respect, especially ones who he believes are of greater moral fiber than himself. He kills without hesitation, always making sure his victims had it coming to them. He would like to fall in love, but he is aware of how unlikely anyone could fall in love with someone like himself. He registered because he felt like he was alone in his secret identity's life, and that the government would have the proper thought to point him in the direction of people who deserve to die.
  • Powers: Isaac's powers are the same as the player characters in the Prototype series. Basically, he can absorb the biomass of other people and animals, killing them in the process. This gives him access to their memories, knowledge, and abilities, as well as mimicry of their appearance and voice. Isaac no longer needs to eat like a regular person, any food that isn't living meat is useless to him. Isaac heals himself from injuries by absorbing biomass. Isaac can use excess biomass to regenerate body parts and transform parts of himself into weapons, shields, tendrils, or cover himself in armor. Isaac can attain great speed and strength, able to lift hundreds of tons and run at 100 mph at full power. Isaac is also very durable, bulletproof at his base level. Isaac can also fly by means of releasing blood at high pressures from his hands and feet. He is capable of infrared vision and sonar/echolocation.
  • Other Skills: Isaac has the skills and memories of people he's killed before, using them whenever the need arises.
  • Background/Origin: Isaac is a vengeful young man whose parents and sister died in the crossfire of a gangland gunfight when he was twenty-three. Swearing revenge on those responsible, he lived in angry silence, collecting information. One night while he was out walking, Isaac was captured to be a guinea pig in the experiments of some mad scientist experimenting with biomass. Transforming the being that Isaac was, the scientist had hoped to turn hi[up]m over to his superiors to be used as a weapon. But Isaac killed the scientist, consumed his mass, and escaped. Realizing he now had the power to avenge his family, Isaac went on a rampage killing those he had found responsible. After being calmed down by another superhero, Isaac dedicated his life from then on to hunting and consuming the monsters who hid within humanity.
  • Miscellaneous Notes: Isaac was 25 years old when he was altered, and his appearance remains as such. He is currently 27.

  • Name: Tertius
  • Side: Registered
  • Gender: Male but his genitals fit inside a sheath so that even if he's naked they aren't visible. the sheath also acts as a natural athletic cup.
  • Age: 7 but looks 30something
  • Physical Appearance: 6'4" 170 pounds, lean build, aquiline features, violet eyes, disproportionately long and spindly arms and legs skin is normally matte black (see below)
  • Personality: Aloof, stoic, arrogant. Most of his coworkers regard him as a freak and this has caused him to push people away even when they try to be friendly. However he has been known to exibit a twisted sense of humor. he has occassionally been rumored to show up with his skin tone set on shocking pink and iceblue check, or plaid. His handlers worry that this might be a sign of incipient breakdown but so far it hasn't interfered with hs job performance.
  • Powers and skills:
    • Awesomeness by Analysis: His mind is a living tactical computer able to analyze and deconstruct any combat situation or puzzle in seconds.
    • His strength and agility, while not superhuman are definitely on the high end of the scale. He can bench press 500 lbs and has the agility of an Olympic level gymnast. Also his lengthy limbs usually give him a reach advantage in combat.
    • Is the equivalent of a fifth degree black belt in jiu-jitsu.
    • Is very stealthy and good at sneaking
    • Good with lock picks and sleight of hand
    • Although his normal skin tone is a matte black he can alter it's color to fit his surroundings including camo patterns
  • Equipment:
    • He normally wears a body suit covering his torso and neck whose color and pattern are programmed to match his. It's also bulletproof against standard ammo types.
    • He uses a six foot metal quarterstaff in combat. This can be extended up to eight feet or be seperated into two smaller staffs. When seperated the staffs can generate a powerful electric shock, sufficient to knock out a normal human.
  • Background: Tertius first memories are of being awakened in, then deconted from, a liquid filled tube, his mind already filled with the background knowledge most people take a couple of decades to learn. He also woke aware that he was the property of the United States government with no legal rights and a chip implanted in his medulla oblongata that could, at the desire of his handlers cause paralysis, pain or death. Thus he serves, albeit reluctantly, as originally, an agent of the DIA and now as a soldier in his worlds super civil war. He wonders but has not yet been able to find out what happened to the presumed Primus and Secundus.
