There is no image and I have one in mind. So this thread is to find out if it is ok. Of course feel free to propose an alternate images on to use. I also encourage coming up with an alternate caption, because I am not confident the one I came up with is good. If you think the existing caption idea could be improved upon instead of outright changed I would be happy if we could hear those ideas too.

Remember to never mix drugs or share needles

In regards to the caption i came up with i am thinking of replacing "drugs" with "websites"

I tried fixing it in your post; you can't right-align pics or captions in the forum. Unfortunately, I think what you're going to have to do is reupload the pic with a shorter file name...not sure if that's what's causing the problem, but I know the system doesn't like long names like that.

thanks for your help, i couldn't fix it without you. well apparently you can post captions in the forum, but why is it blue?

The trope is "a completely mundane substance is treated as a drug". Like in District Nine the aliens are addicted to cat food. It's a super trope for Drunk on Milk, Alien Catnip, Frothy Mugs of Water, and so on. That image is "these things, which are not addictive drugs, can have effects similar to addictive drugs". It is factual apples to fictional oranges.

Also...

...on the forums, captions are always blue.

I thought it fitted this page just fine, just not it's sub tropes. I would like to have more people provide input before the final decision is made though.

It doesn't fit the sub-tropes either. Even putting "RL vs fiction" concerns aside, it is significantly different.

RL vs fiction concerns? like what?

This Wiki is a catalog of the tricks of the trade for writing fiction. RL examples are tolerated, but they are off-mission. If the question "should RL examples be allowed on this page?" is raised, the answer is always "no". Page images tend to be from works. Putting up some art from a magazine (?) depicting real life companies as intravenous drugs would be a weird thing to do.

But putting that aside, it doesn't fit. It is not about treating things that are like drugs as drugs, it is about treating things that are not like drugs as drugs.

so your saying some websites are to drug like already for it to count? I disagree. As for it being to related real life, i see where your coming from. its better to have no picture than a bad picture, so how do i take down the discussion (unless you want to give more time for other people to contribute to this)?

No, not saying that, exactly. They are not "too drug-like", they are "drug-like at all".

"Cat food, which is not addictive, is treated like an addictive drug" = this.
"Facebook, which is addictive, is treated like an addictive drug" = not this.

(The article talks about drug-like effects besides addiction, just sticking to that for simplicity.)

this thread is stagnant and going nowhere, can someone tell me how to take it down? If so, I'll take it down in a few days unless some says something aside from how to take it down.

We can't take threads down ourselves. What you can do is holler (see below) for a lock, which would close this thread and make it move to the Image Pickin' Morgue, or for a clock, which would put a three-day timer on this thread. If nothing productive happened in those three days, it would be locked.

If you do nothing, it'll sit around for a while and if someone has a suggestion and bumps it, that's fine. If nobody has a suggestion, Willbyr will clock it after about 45 days (so some time in June).

How to holler to the mods:

  1. Choose which post you're going to holler. I'm fine with you using this one, and it's semi-logical since it's about locking/clocking the thread. Alternatively, you could use your first post, or make another post specifically saying "Hollering for a lock" and use that one.
  2. You see that yellow triangle icon above every post? Click it on the one you're going to holler.
  3. A new screen will come up. This one has box to type in and some text at the top telling you about hollers. The holler has not yet been sent.
  4. In the box, type something along the lines of "Thread isn't going anywhere — no suggestions, and the one in the OP isn't a good image. Please lock/clock this thread."
  5. Hit "send". The holler will go to a Special Place Only The Mods Know About, and one of them may come along and lock/clock the thread.
  6. If nobody has done anything to the thread within a reasonable amount of time, they've probably decided to do nothing. This may well mean that they think suggestions might come and it isn't worth locking yet.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

This one's at the clocking point, but since the starter was wanting it taken down, I'll oblige and lock up.
