I support square-dancing the ships. I think that's why I didn't have nearly as much of a problem with book 2's shipping as everyone else did. These kids trade partners at every turn? Sound about right.
If Book 3's shipping continues to be the romantic equivalent of everyone playing Twister, I will be satisfied.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Bolin's still a celebrity and national hero, right? I'd like it if each episode he had a different girlfriend if it's still so.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThat would...not remedy his increasingly narcissistic personality.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.The very first episode of Korra seemed to setup a "Bolin has a new fling every day" arc, so it would be neat to see that in season 3, even if it were just a Funny Background Event.
I'd like that, but less with a "throwing girls away" angle and more "genuinely tries to make it work, they all fail due to no fault of his". Taken lightly, though.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Eh, we got enough of that in Book 1, and it was heart-wrenching. We got a little of it in Book 2 and it was also heart-wrenching. Making Bolin a romantic Butt-Monkey would be a cruel Flanderization of his romantic misfortunes.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatShipping food for thought here:
So I got around to watching the first four episodes of Korra with the commentary on, and Bryke gave an interesting point about the relationships in this show when they were talking about Tenzin and Lin in Episode 1.
(paraphrasing here) They described the failed Tenzin/Lin pairing as one that made the characters learn something in the end about themselves and what they wanted in a relationship, even though they really did love each other.(paraphrase end)
I kind of interpreted that as this: Tenzin and Lin had traits that threw the other off, and they just couldn't quite compromise in the end to stay together, so they broke up and Tenzin got with Pema. This is running an interesting parallel with Makorra when they broke up at the end of season 2.
At this point, they can either permanently move on and try for someone who seemingly meshes with them better like Tenzin and Lin did, or they can try to compromise later on and get back together. That looks to me like the choices Bryke may have been trying to set up in this scenario, based on their previous train of thought. Could be wrong though.
Clearly the solution is for Korra Mako Korra to hook up with Asami.
Oh if only the television networks were more liberal, the possibilities...
So I just realized that despite both of them pinning for Mako, neither Korra or Asami bothered listening to him when he was suspicious about something (terrorist bombing/Varrick) because.... reasons I don't know.
I guess if Mako wasn't such a fuck up in Book 1, the girls would have fucked up even harder.
And with those 3 along with Bolin kissing a tied up woman against her will, these four should just get themselves fixed.

Yeah, I'd say the entire cast is pretty much awful.
Haha, seriously?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Just got caught up on this thread, so I'm going to pull something from last page:
So why doesn't Korra have mouth tentacles?
Because I've gotta admit that made me laugh. XD (The answer, I suspect, is "how do you know she doesn't?" ;) I think it's implied that Vaatu was able to do that because he was much more powerful than Raava, but Raava's even more powerful now. Of course, Raava has absolutely no motivation for doing that, outside of really weird shipping logic >.>)
And now, for something more recent:
So I just realized that despite both of them pinning for Mako, neither Korra or Asami bothered listening to him when he was suspicious about something (terrorist bombing/Varrick) because.... reasons I don't know.
Asami didn't listen because she (wrongly) trusted Varrick. Korra didn't listen because if what Mako said was true, it was incredibly inconvenient for her. Varrick's terrorist tactics might have been morally terrible, but Korra would have had every reason to deny that the NWT wasn't responsible given her need for military support against them. =P
Varrick's plan hinged on the application of Occam's Razor. If an obvious suspect exists, people will assume the obvious suspect is the perpetrator. A court of law may require hard evidence for a conviction, but human psychology is happy to go, "It's CLEARLY him, what more do you need?" especially when said human is already emotionally invested in the crime, as Korra was.
Mako investigating Varrick and looking for actual hard evidence as to who was responsible for the attacks was being a good cop. Korra going, "F*ck that noise, it's clearly the Northern Water Tribe!" was being a fallible human being.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Someone tell me what's with the fandom's obsession with shipping, anyway. I never got it. Why is the Avatar fandom addicted to shipping either characters who ages average around 13 years old (A:TLA) or shipping characters who are as emotionally mature as 13 years old (Korra)
Heh. Don't ever read Homestuck, then.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.It looks like Bolin is going to have an honest chance at a good ship that isn't cringeworthy and Jinora will probably be the new base-breaking one

Indeed, while I absolutely adore the [leaked] Book 3 episodes, Kai's relationship with Jinora is just... wrong. It serves no purpose to the plot other than to help Jinora find the missing airbenders, and it completly disrupts the flow of karmic retirbution against Kai's stealing and prickness. "Oh, I'm a little selfish shitstain that steals wallets even though I don't need to anymore, and that treats people who legitimately see me as part of their family as crap, and I will continue do such because I'm rewarded with a satisfaction for my blue balls! Teeheeeheee!!!!".
On a more positive note, I'm enamoured with Su Jin's sons. They're all sexy.
Come on Korrasami! This is the season, I can feel it!
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. Now that I've seen it with more context, I can safely say that I like the direction Bopal (Bolin/Opal) is headed.
Easily the stablest, sanest, cutest, and least messed up ship Bryke has created for Korra.
It puts Bolin on the "not naive" and worldly side for once, and it's nice just to see a nice girl for once that deconstructs all the smooth talking he does.
I imagine this would be the perfect flip to Masami, if Bryke hadn't decided to screw around with that Love Triangle so many ways to the point of exhaustion.
Still uneasy about the Kainora Toy Ship though, even if it appears for now Kai has Taken A Level In Kindness.
Nuuuuuuuu. Next season's ships need to be Korra/Asami, Bolin/Eska, but in a healthy relationship this time, and Mako/someone cool (maybe Desna?).
