From a literal reading of What Goes Where On The Wiki it seems that links to Darth Wiki tropes are always forbidden, Flame Bait or not.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhich is what I meant in the first place: why making a Darth Wiki trope Flame Bait when DW items are forbidden by default?
I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!Because it is Flame Bait that gets used for complaining.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOkay, Let Me Get This Straight...:
- Darth Wiki: namespace that is prone to excessively negative bashing of things, although not necessarily to natter/Thread Mode.
- Flame Bait: namespace that, aside from being itself a part of Darth Wiki, is meant for excessively negative bashing of things, to the point natter/Thread Mode isn't even frowned upon anymore.
Is that how things are, or I'm mistaken again?
I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!Darth Wiki has these pages among other stuff. Flame Bait isn't necessarily in Darth Wiki, but apart from some grandfathered tropes I see that Trope on Darth Wiki==Flame Bait, at least per What Goes Where On The Wiki.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNo, Flame Bait is not a namespace at all. It's a distinction for tropes so controversial, that we don't even allow them to be listed as examples of tropes anymore, in Darth Wiki, on YMMV, or anywhere else.
On the other side of things, I see that the crowner is stuck at 10-8 even though (apparently) putting something on Darth Wiki is exactly the same thing as making it Flame Bait - and the namespace shift won the previous crowner strongly.
This looks rather schizophrenic to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe subtleties of the similarity elude many people, and once something goes Darth, a lot of people stop caring about it. I for one enjoy reading DW, but I really only edit in Main, works pages, Laconic Wiki, and Playing With Wiki.
Pre-weekend bump for votes. It's at 11-3.
I am interested in knowing why we are getting downvotes, considering that Ruined FOREVER is on Darth Wiki and is being used exclusively to complain about changes you didn't like or about fans complaining about changes. This all qualifies as Flame Bait; it's nothing more than a value judgment with little relevance as per Not A Trope and I recall seeing a big Edit War on the Video Games page.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThis is awfully close to the margin for consensus. I'd like to see a wider gap.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Calling crowner: let's make this Flame Bait.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.The Flame Bait banner seems to have fallen off. I think I know why, but we'd need a Tech Wishlist thread to fix that. And done
Also, there are still wicks to Ruined FOREVER to remove. We need a Special Efforts thread there, right?

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOnce we remove the wicks, should we cut Main.Ruined Forever? I know in the past we cut Darth Wiki redirects to prevent them from being used in the Main Wiki (like So Bad Its Horrible and Wallbanger). I know this one has 4,000 inbounds, but I'm pretty sure the other ones also had a lot of inbounds when we cut them.

It still has plenty of inbounds after the inbound reset. Dunno how to get that past the cutmasters.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRedirect and faux redlink seems the right choice.
I'm for fake redlinking the redirecting page as well.

The wicks are cleaned (or were—I'm still having to fix up one or two a day). Any word on the Faux Redlinking? I think we're a hair's-breadth from being done here.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. There are plenty of fake redlink requests out there. Something tells me that we aren't going to get any more of these approved.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIf true, that would be a very bad thing.
Then we're going to need a mod ruling on whether this thread is ready to lock up or not, unless there's something else to do here.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. There are two tech issues to fix:
- The RuinedFOREVER/ namespace needs Darth Wiki background.
- The Flame Bait banner must be added to all pages with that string.
Removed the last wicks. How is the tech fix going?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanTech fix is up to Eddie. Sorry. Will try to bring it up. Otherwise, locking. Thanks.

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
Aaaaaaaaand what is wrong with that entry, exactly?
Didn't mean to play devil's advocate here, but, back on the topic itself, I don't see why we should make "Ruined Forever" a Flame Bait trope. Honestly, the mere fact that Darth Wiki items can't even be linked to in YMMV tabs should suffice, right? Just saying - having an already frowned-upon item further frowned upon would be kind of redundant, or am I mistaken?
At least, that's what I could understand judging by Administrivia pages.
