Alright I finished looking through all of Fish in the Trap. It's boring bad Yaoi plain and simple. Weird ass proportions, and every other page is talking about "breaking" some uke.

The graphic content I'm unsure of because there's very very little, maybe 2-3 instances where sex is engaged and that's mostly just weird shots of faces or limbs or panels which I think are supposed to be genitals the panels are whited out almost entirely save something which I think is a stomach. The most graphic scene is the one at the beginning.

I noted this before: Elfen Lied's sex scenes are more graphic than these.

The plot is mostly about some manipulative Seme and a good Seme and their relationships and rivalry while one manipulates and abuses his partners... I think. They're apparently in high-school even though they look like they're in their late twenties. There isn't a lot of sex here (all together maybe 1/5 of a chapter for a 20 chapter series), but the participants are underage.

Any thoughts?

Highschool means aged about sixteen, and if they look older that really cuts down on the pedopandering. Overall sounds passable if fifty-shadesy.

There was an OVA made of this, and going by the screenshots, the character who I'm assuming is the uke figure here looks a fair bit younger than either of the leads, but that's only to say he looks believable as a late teenager rather than like some ill-considered product of anime Dawson casting. I guess that pushes things into marginally dodgier territory but, again, the page seems to deal primarily with the manga, which is a different search altogether...

...in which case the age ambiguity is even more pronounced in places. I mean, the designs are reasonably cute and all, if inconsistently executed, and none of it seems especially explicit, but this is veering into the awkward end of shoujo smut territory where it becomes harder to make a clear call.

I think the big guy with the bandage is also supposed to be a teenager. At least Wikipedia refers to him as such. I thought he was a grown ass adult.

And yeah I only read the manga.

I assumed as much, but the smaller dudes are more the issue here. Yaoi tends to play to the difference in perceived maturity and masculinity as a way of reinforcing the dominance/submission dynamic, and that can occasionally run afoul of how the current policy is worded. That said, I would wager this is aimed at a *slightly* younger audience than the more aggro josei stuff often is—probably the same age range as the characters, to be precise—which changes how the rules apply somewhat.

Alright, so I'm looking at the policy rules and going from there

  • Pure porn, or porn with an Excuse Plot only,
    • No. There's a plot and a lot more interaction and story than porn.
  • Anything that has explicit underage sex,
    • That's the hang up. Both the explicitness and the vague character ages. I've described the details of the more explicit scenes above. The guy's age is suspect, especially as the romantic entanglements revolve around him.
  • Implied sex of preteens or younger
    • No. They're older than Pre-Teens.
  • Fanservice intended to cater to pedophiles (lolicon and shotacon fanservice can count)
    • Going to also hit this one with a no as well. There's not that much graphic explicit sex in it, and it's not occupying the brunt of it like a hentai manga.

O hey we have something new too

  • Jailbait (2014): The film contains graphic sex scenes with full nudity, along with several other instances of objectionable content. It is an exploitation film with a rather flimsy plot that tries to feature the female characters nude in several scenes.

fuuuun.

Film by The Asylum. IMBD lists it as TV-MA. One review seems to imply it's trying to ape the 70's sexploitation genre but seems to go back and forth between that and playing itself as a softcore porn flick.

Saw the Parents Guide. It says young girl. How old exactly? Pre-teen or teenager?

I can't find a thing about her age on Google. All it says is she was sent to juvie.

What's interesting is how little is out there... And how much mirrors IMDB.

90% of the stuff made by Asylum has very limited exposure (to the point that it looks like our page is still missing some of their movies) and is made mainly for the rental market.

With a case like this, we probably won't be able to review it without someone watching/having watched the movie itself.

Jailbait was classified as MA15+ in Australia, R16 in New Zealand, and 18A in Canada. It may be trashy, but something the majority of countries are allowing minors to see with adult accompaniment likely doesn't violate our policy.

Australia isn't the best rating there. Just saying. Pretty sure any game that has a hint of rape instantly gets the R18+ which is the NC-17 there and some that are slightly stronger just get out right banned.

Well, the work in question seems to be chock full of rape if reviews are any indication. More rating board wierdness.

[up][up]We don't automatically doom a work because of its rating. We may disqualify a work from consideration if the rating is too low, but Australia isn't likely to have that problem in the foreseeable future.

Yeah that was the point I was trying to make. That it's only low ratings that effect anything. I think I mentioned this with Cross Ange when we discussed it. A lot of rating systems were putting it on par with Game of Thrones and Fifty Shades of Grey and I briefly mentioned it but they said that Australia's ratings don't matter for the P5 as they have like T rating games in the US straight to R18+ over there.

Adannor Since: May, 2010

Well what's funny is that Jailbait apparently has a surprisingly low rating for Australia's standards.
