Manga.Eiken ran in Shounen Champion, a manga magazine for teenage boys (majority of the readership is age 9-18, bar graph at top here shows data from the Japanese Magazine Publisher's Association) which is notorious for being trash-tastic. It is about high school kids involved in every kind of fanservice, suggestiveness, Not What It Looks Like, women falling over and losing all their clothing, suggestive popsicle-sucking raunch that it possibly can, but there is no sex whatsoever and it is not sexually explicit. It's a terrible manga (Jason Thompson, who read all of the manga published in English up to 2007 for a book, voted it one of the worst), but if it's going to go then the guidelines should be expanded from "no porn" to "no heavy fanservice".

Defending Gor: it has a lot of fans who'll talk your ear off about the quality of the worldbuilding. (It also has fans who'd rather gag you and tie you up, but I'm not sure the two groups even talk to each other.)

Defending Bible Black: The much-more-famous anime is reportedly almost plotless sex, but I've heard the original VN had an interesting and surprisingly complex plot. Has anyone played it who can verify?

^^ Actually, Gor hasn't been cut. The post I was responding to was calling for it to be cut. (However, Bible Black has been cut.)

No, I won't actually. People need to bring up legitimate well thought out and worded, arguments not just generalized points which can be applied across the board to works that obviously wouldn't apply. Using straw points doesn't help anyone and hurts other arguments and I will point out the flaws in them when I see them.

I don't care if an argument is on my side or not if someone tries pulling small cherry picked things, are basically just Look at this! arguments they will not get my respect and will be called out. For their flaws, this helps out everyone and should be done more often not less. Eventually people will create proper arguments and not just throw things into the wind and hope they stick.

Gorian is a synonym for rape fetishist in many parts of the internet for a reason. I admit The first books just had a creepy undercurrent and unpleasant antiwoman themes. But now and for most of the book series' history it turned into utter rape porn.

Also it's world building sucks, especially in the latter books because it was clearly written with one hand. It really is like reading Hitler's worldbuilding in a post All Non Aryans Are Dead sci fi novel.

Let's not use "this work is terrible quality" as an excuse.

If we're just supposed to be naming names . . . Actually, why are we naming names here? Shouldn't we be going down the entire list of recent cuts, rather than just debating the restoration of whatever one person happened to notice had been cut? (Some of the cuts are pretty obscure, so even if someone would know whether they deserved to be cut, they might not notice that the page had been cut at all.)

Damnit. This is why I'm not reporting questionable works until after the review council is established.

(Would anyone be willing to go through the cutlist and make a list of all the cuts related to this purge? They're a bit hard to find amongst the regular cuts that happen every day.)

All Anime Is Naughty Tentacles should be restored for the following reasons:

1. The cut list reason was that it is hentai. It isn't hentai. It isn't even a work page. It is a trope.
2. It is not a sex trope or porn trope. It is about stereotypical presentation of anime.
3. None of the examples were about graphic sexual content or were graphically sexual in their description.
4. None of the examples were from pornographic works, or even works that would warrant an R rating. They were mostly from works like The Onion.
5. All the examples are objective examples of the use of the trope in works. It is not purely an Audience Reaction, nor is it complaining.
6. It is a legitimate Sub-Trope of Public Medium Ignorance and Small Reference Pools.
7. Since January 1, 2011 this article has brought 1,815 people to the wiki from non-search engine links.

It might be desirable to rename the trope, but that is something that the TRS forum could handle.
