Not all fanfiction will be cut.

Hopefully that's clear enough.

I'm not just concerned with fan fiction. As I've said before I don't like the demonization of sex :(

Should we change No Such Thing As Notability and Works Pages Are A Free Launch to add a no-porn disclaimer?

Works Pages Are A Free Launch currently says "As long as these people and their works exist and are published (Unpublished works have their own dark little corner) then they have a right to a page."

Wait, when did this change from "we're getting rid of pedophilic works" to "we're getting rid of anything with significant amounts of explicit sex"? The former made sense to me — though I do think deleting works of literary significance like Lolita is going too far — but the latter seems like prudishness. Is Google really demanding that we delete those pages entirely rather than just keeping them behind a content warning?

...Hang on at what point was ever Fan Fiction itself considered to be cut? O_o All I remember is porn, explicit, Fanfic Recs, and "whatever Eddie doesn't like".

[up] Apparently this has not been about Google for quite a while now.

Why are you assuming we'll get rid of anything with explicit sex? Explicit sex does not equal porn.

@164 It happened several hundred pages back, on four different threads, when the idea was just to get rid of the MLP "clop" fics and it turned out that most of the cast didn't qualify for the Pædo Hunt deletions under any scheme other than "has sex in it". A push had to be made to make it as broad as possible to get rid of them.

It has to be said though, deleting Lolita was a bad move. Its virtually a trope in itself that when someone attacks Lolita on "moral" grounds that they've gone too far and look silly. There are sitcoms that make jokes about it FFS.

From what I can understand, we are only going to permanently cut works with straight-up pedophilia, porn without plot, and overly violent and sexual works.

We're not covering porn anymore, in whatever medium. Crusading against the demonization of sex is not what we're about. It would have no effect if we did draw some sort of line in the sand, anyway.

However, it looks like it's difficult for us to trope works that are solely pornographic, because we have trouble keeping it to acceptable levels for our ad providers.
Did they clarify what they expect to see done before they restore the ad service? Because last I heard, the original appeal to Google was rejected without the slightest actual explanation, and Eddie was going to seek contact with an actual Google official to get some actual answers.

The trouble is it isn't just google advertisers, Eddie personally wants some stuff gone regardless of whether it is acceptable to google.
Which is what most of the complainers have a problem with; for all the bad points that can be said about Wikipedia (and yes, I know We Are Not Wikipedia; doesn't mean we can learn from their example), you don't see its owner(s) imposing their collective personal preferences/biases/whatever-you-call-them on the site wholesale about what it should document beyond the understandable rule of notability (at least, AFAIK). I really mean no offense to Fast Eddie, but if TV Tropes is really supposed to adhere to his personal preferences even if said preferences clash with the site's mission, then he really ought to amend said mission to reflect that.
