It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo pulled some weird shenanigans with game names and such with Mario for the non-Japanese audience.

Maybe it's gonna be another mario remake. Yep. I'm putting my money on that.
But why would a remake be a sequel.......

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Eh, I wouldn't read too much into it. Domain names and shit get bought all the time just as preventive measures. I don't see Nintendo making a game called "Super Mario 4."

Easy street has no parking signs. They could be trying to pull the same "nostalgia + new stuff" thing that Sega's doing with Sonic 4.
But New Super Mario Bros already did that.
I have a message from another time...2D mario (not 2.5 NSMB) maybe?
^^^^ Exactly.
^^ So did Super Mario Galaxy (especially 2) and Super Mario Land 3D.
Mario practically invented that sort of thing.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. There's a new 2D side-scrolling Mario game in development for the 3DS, so it could be short for Super Mario Land 4.
Wishful thinking, but hey.
Eh.Super Mario Bros. 4: Episode 1, anyone?
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Except good!
Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them.Haven't we had, like, four Super Mario Bros. 4's? None of which actually being "Super Mario 4?"
Not like a single one of Mario's games has actual consistency - numbering them as sequels is pointless unless it's one of the RPG games.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorSuper Mario World was already subtitled Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan. That makes this whole thing pointless, even if you don't take the NSMB games into account.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadWho says it's going to result in an actual game? I'd imagine they're doing so just to make sure no one else has it.
I recall that Activision did a similar thing back when Guitar Hero was still being made, taking domains for classic games like "Drum Hero".
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...I guess, but that still doesn't quite make sense.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadMaybe Super Mario World is just getting a website really late.
New Super Mario World perhaps?
(Seriously, I would buy that, but not with the mediocre graphics of the NSMB games)
NO TREE FOR ME (ALSO LOVES HER BOYFRIEND)YOU WILL TAKE YOUR DS/WII GRAPHICS, AND YOU WILL LIKE IT!
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadNo! Not those bland shareware looking graphics!
NO TREE FOR ME (ALSO LOVES HER BOYFRIEND)Oh my, how interesting.
Here's a WMG:
It'll feature hand-drawn graphics a la Rayman Origins and also actually feature a story.
I make video games. They're not the most interesting video games, but they're video games nonetheless.
This is very interesting...
Could Nintendo be planning another numbered entry to the Super Mario Bros franchise? Will we be seeing Super Mario Bros. 4 sometime in the future? Will it be different from Super Mario World, which is Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan?
